What needs to be done when changing home address for firearms registration? I checked my paperwork, hpds firearms page, and googled. Best I could find is an old thread here where someone posted that you may need to notify hpd in writing. any more info?

HRS 134-3 doesn't mention anything about requirements for anyone to update an address for an existing firearm registration.

Isn't that one of the benefits that liberals make for registering firearms in that they can be returned to us if they got lost? How will our lost firearms return home if we change address? ;D

Interesting question. Consider someone arriving on island. They will have to register firearms they bring within 5 days. It's possible that person will have to give their temporary "place of sojourn" address. Once they have a permanent address, there's no requirement to update the registration.
Once again, this is a busy-work, time-consuming inconvenience that's never solved a single crime. The new laws, however, will allow the state to do exactly what we warned registrations' real purpose will be -- confiscation.
I recommend not updating the registration address. If you ever buy & register a new gun, get a job, go to school, see a doctor, or breath air, they will already have your address in the new gun registration and/or RAPBACK at a minimum.
Since you do have to notify DMV of any change of address to get your license updated, I'm sure HPD will be able to find you.

Nevada ccw permit requires current address. 30days notification. Or its a misdameener that will cost you $25 (like a jay walking ticket).

Slight correction. It's not a misdemeanor. That would constitute a criminal charge. The Las Vegas CCW website states it's a civil fine of $25.

As outlined in NRS 202.367, a permittee shall notify the sheriff who issued his or her permit in writing within 30 days if the
permittee’s permanent address changes. A permittee who fails to notify the sheriff pursuant to the provisions of this section
is subject to a civil penalty of $25.

And, the statute:
NRS 202.367 Duplicate permit; notification to sheriff of recovered permit; penalty.
1. A permittee shall notify the sheriff who issued his or her permit in writing within 30 days if the permittee’s:
(a) Permanent address changes; or
(b) Permit is lost, stolen or destroyed.
2. The sheriff shall issue a duplicate permit to a permittee if the permittee:
(a) Submits a written statement to the sheriff, signed under oath, stating that his or her permit has been lost, stolen or destroyed; and
(b) Pays a nonrefundable fee of $15.
3. If any permittee subsequently finds or recovers his or her permit after being issued a duplicate permit pursuant to this section, the permittee shall, within 10 days:
(a) Notify the sheriff in writing; and
(b) Return the duplicate permit to the sheriff.
4. A permittee who fails to notify a sheriff pursuant to the provisions of this section is subject to a civil penalty of $25.
