Hi guys,
I heard powder prices are going up. Anybody know what one pound of HP38 and Titegroup are going for locally?
Thanks,
Dave

Aloha Super Dave,
Here on the Big Island a pound of TiteGroup goes anywhere from $29-$32. But as the bottle says... "A little goes a long way" lol True Story!

I just paid $29.99+tax for HP38. Believe that to be normal full retail.

Titegroup was $23 at HGS last month. Eugene will be at the gun show this weekend but have to go to store for powders. HP38 is the same at Win 231. I bought the last bottle of A2230.

Gee, 5 or 6 years ago I was paying $20 a pound for Titegroup.

I don't think we'll see a return of cheap powder any time soon, especially if the liberals start going after ammunition as their next 'gun control' initiative.

Four years ago I paid forty bucks for a bottle. Remember those days?

I do remember. But not very fondly. Certain LGS were selling bottles up to $45. And one in particular was right around $48. Also, limited to purchase one bottle per day.

The powder shortage began around 2012.
It caught me unprepared. I was fortunate to have a friend who had a few extra bottles of WST which is a great powder for 45acp.
But I was trying to load some 9mm and needed something slower. I paid around $40 for a bottle of CFE from Jhara.
Expect more shortages as the snowflake generation spits out their pacifiers and starts crying for attention.

I was getting into reloading summer of 2013
and availability was zero
bought what i could thanks to a member here who was at WGS (old location) when they got their shipment in
and paid big dollars for it
were all the stores chaging more for powder at the time, or was it only a couple?

Don't recall exactly, as it was a slow-motion event.
I noticed a shortage of bullet HEADS  in early 2013, then powder started to disappear.
This was when I discovered xtreme bullets. In 2014 I started the thread about alternative propellants in 9mm.

early 2013 was when .22lr started getting scarce
it took until the beginning of 2017 before powder/primers started to become a little more available, then the spring of 2017 i started to see more .22lr

Thanks for the info. Yea, I remember paying $50 for a bottle of HP38 at J Hara. It was hard to come by back then.

I think it's still $50 for a bottle at JHara last time I was there several months ago.
