Only if you mean "more stupid" in reference to all New Jersey state gun laws in addition to the school district "policy". At least they won't suspend students if they go to the range in the summer. I want to hear the administration and board logical argument for that particular part (I mean besides you can't suspend someone from school if they are in school at the time... summer school?), in addition to the entire policy. And notice the standard for suspension: "reported". Sounds just like the "gun violence protective orders" standard of proof for granting the ex parte gun confiscation orders.  :wtf:

Scott Bach spoke about this last week on NRA News Cam and Company:

Scott Bach: Students Suspended For Social Pics at Range

In New Jersey, the Lacey Township School District has suspended students for posting pictures of themselves near firearms at a target range off school property. NRA board member Scott Bach of the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs says their school handbook states students are subject to suspension if they are reported to be in possession of a weapon of any type for any reason or purpose whether on or off school grounds during the academic year. It's a violation of both the First and Second Amendments. The ANJRPC is prepared to sue the school district unless it rescinds the suspensions and apologizes to the students and their parents. Scott says, by the rules of the handbook, a student can't shoot clays with mom and dad, take an NRA training course or earn a Boy Scout badge. The district has yet to respond to the ANJRPC demand letter. Originally aired on Cam & Co 03/16/18.

Hey! I just read that there is a happy ending to this story.
The school backed off and is revising the student handbook.

I'm guessing their lawyers told them they had two options: 1. Revise the obviously unconstitutional rules, or 2. Pay a huge sum of money as a result of certain-to-lose lawsuits, at which point the rules will be changed anyway.

That pesky 2nd Amendment always getting in their way to enforce unconstitutional rules.     :shake:

When I was reading the article, a part of me wished the school had pushed the issue and this case got nationwide attention.  That they backed of is a positive ending, but the school administration went way too far.  I can see if they had posted some stuff about wanting to harm someone or even reckless acts.  But seemed like just a fun day on the range, outside of school perview.

Here's Scott Bach's update today on Cam and Company wherein he outlines the weasel-worded deception by the school district, their unannounced change of policy, and a further First Amendment issue with having forced a student to remove a sticker from his vehicle under threat of punishment.
