I have a Maine non-resident Concealed Carry Handgun (CCH) permit that expired last month. I initially applied because it was one of the easiest states to get their non-resident permit, and it was honored in states I needed it for.
I applied around July 2013, and the massive backlog (high demand) pushed the issue date out to 5/2014. Good for four years. It's supposed to take 1-2 months to process, but it took mine almost a year.
Anyway, in October 2015, Maine passed a law to allow permit-less carry for residents and non-residents. Before that, Maine gave gun owners the choice of open carrying without a permit, or concealed carrying with a permit.
So, no need to have that permit renewed.
In my reading, I also found that New Hampshire also has relatively new laws protecting permit-less carry now. I believe in 2017, they started allowing non-residents to conceal carry without permits. That adds a new state to my list of where I can legally carry concealed.
It looks like there are 16 states now that allow at least some form of permit-less concealed carry. Some require the pistol be unloaded (so stupid), some require that you be a resident of that state, and some, like Maine, say as long as you can legally own a gun, you can legally carry it concealed or openly.

Arizona CCW permit is the way to go also. Essentially the same. Just prove you had firearms training and copy of ID and fingerprints and you're all set. They had a turnaround time of under 4 weeks back in December.

I have 3 other permits, so I'm good for a few more years.

I like to get the state that I will visit mostly because it allows me to come within 1000ft of a school zone. If the state has reciprocity with another state, you can CCW, but can't carry within that 1000ft mark. You need that states specific CCW permit. This is federal law. So IDK what they do if the state has constitutional carry and school zones.
Even just passing by counts.

Constitutional/Permit-less carry still has the same rules on where you can't carry legally. Some states don't allow you to be carrying in a restaurant or bar where alcoholic beverages are served, while others let you as long as you aren't consuming alcohol.
Always good to carry a list of these restrictions for quick reference when traveling to any state. Uniform laws under national reciprocity would be so nice.

Luckily the 9th island CCW laws are more laxed, even though they're a blue state. No bump stock ban yet either.
No restrictions on bars, just BAC can't be above .08. I don't drink and carry anyways, don't wanna end up like Deedy. This way I can say ZERO drinks drank.
Casino gun free zones don't carry the weight of the law.
Only thing you have to watch out for is some properties are owned by UNLV so you would be breaking federal gun free zone law.
I always do a law refresher before flying up.
