I'm sure many will be excited to hear that Dicks will soon be coming, and forcefully filling a void that many have been desperately pleading and yearning to have filled.
Also, not gonna ask what keywords ya'll used to find the images posted above.
-
Really? I wont be buying anything from there due to their stance on "assault rifles". I will go in and look around.
-
They can suck one too. Been to the one in Vegas at Fashion Show Mall and EVERYTIME, the staff acted as if they couldn’t be bothered.

Enjoy your overpriced rifles.

Good luck finding anyone on the 2nd floor also. Took a dump there once.

I wish Bass Pro or Sportsman's Warehouse would come here.

Me too. Wonder if the market could support them? Think bass pro would do better here though....
-
Please don't buy from them. They have bailed on the 2nd amendment many times in the mainland already, are overpriced, and the people that work there typically don't know anything. You can get everything from gun broker and online that you can get from them. Eff Dicks.

Spending half of every year in Texas with all these stores, I can tell you they aren't that great.

What sporting goods store do you think is the best?
-
I went to one near San Diego area. It put all of the Sports Authority on island to shame. It was probably 3X as big. Occasionally I miss Sports Authority when I need something right away.
I'd prefer a Bass Pro or Cabela's. Sportsman Warehouse would be cool.

Exactly. Why people still support them is beyond me.

Because a company is free to sell whatever they want to sell, and you are free to buy your preferred goods at another establishment of your choice if you are unhappy with the type of service they provide.

Big 5 was a good outdoor product shop in WA. Don’t remember them selling firearms though.

Where did I say they weren't free to do what they want? Of course they are. But why would any 2A person give Dicks even a penny? They are overpriced, have bailed on the 2A several times, have gouged existing customers when there are panics (Like Cheaper Than Dirt, but worse), and always has employees that don't have a clue about firearms working in the "firearm" section....if you can even call it that anymore.
Why even defend them dude?

Because the people salty about DSG are mad because they elected to not sell a product, which is their choice.
Everyone crying about DSG sound no different than the liberals crying about a cake not being made for gay couple. If you don't like what they offer, then don't shop there. Not sure why they have to cater to your wants and needs.
And i defend them because 1) I defend their choice to sell whatever they want, as i thought this was America, and 2) some of us are actually happy that a company is willing to fill the sporting goods vacuum that sports authority left. Not everyone cares that DSG won't sell you an AR or sells ammo and gear at the price you think it should be at, Because not everyone is shopping for firearm related merchandise.

I was egging Inspector on to “go there” with the joke... ;D

Nope. Liberals would try to ban a place they don't like. I'm just saying that I have no idea why anyone would waste their money at a place that doesn't give a shit about the 2A, and has repeatedly raped their customers when their customers needed them the most. If that's the kind of business you want to support, have at it, but I can't, and will always urge others not to. I guess you are a far easier customer to please than I am. I'll just continue buying better products from better places online or in person, and hopefully the bad practices at Dicks will eventually catch up with them. It luckily is starting to in other states.

I think I went to a Dick’s in Tukwila Washington. It seems to be just like Sports Authority.
Everyday prices weren’t great....I think our lgs have the same prices. Does Dicks have good sales on firearms/ammo?
SA rarely had sales on guns/ammo....I mainly remember sales for birdshot

I don't recall sales for ammo at SA that really caught my attention. As in the price was better than I could find in bulks sales at LGSs. Yeah, like you said, maybe for birdshot.
I bought my Rem 700 from SA because they could special order it and it was well below what LGS's could get it for. Otherwise, I would have likely gone to a LGS if the pricing was about the same.

Value and fair price is determined by the individual purchasing the goods. If its worth their money, they will buy it, or shop somewhere else if they don't.
You keep projecting your personal opinions and ideas with regards to how things should be or what should be sold or how much things should cost, when it should be the company and individuals making the purchase who make that determination. I honestly don't care that you are butthurt that Dicks doesnt sell the firearms you want them to sell or prices aren't what you think they should be, because myself and others will make that determination ourselves, and if we feel its worth it, we'll spend our money there.
So rather than continuously blow up this thread with negativity about Dick's and how much you don't like them, simply don't shop there and point individuals towards better companies when they inquire for them.

Saying I'm butthurt is just plain immature man. Come on dude. I'm not butt hurt. All the guns I buy nowadays have been banned since May 19th, 1986, and I buy pallets of ammo at a time from SGAmmo, so Dick's practices don't affect me at all. I'm just trying to inform others. We are on the same side here are we not?
My first statement in this thread was that I don't understand why people support them. Is that not ok to say here? I only started typing more in detail as the thread continued. I'm also trying to inform people of their practices incase they don't know and have never shopped at a Dicks. As a supposed supporter of the 2A to the fullest, why would you choose support them?
I'm not telling you to do anything. Do as you please, but I'm just asking people to not give them business, and explaining why incase they do not know the companies shitty history. If you honestly don't care about supporting companies that have bailed on the 2nd amendment several times, raped customers during panics, cancelled existing orders once panics happened only to raise the prices and resist the items, have supported anti gun legislation, etc, then have at it. I guess you can have pretty and large storefront to walk into to? Neat. Seems clueless to me to support them, but have at it. That easy going mentality is why this state's gun laws are as shitty as they are as it is and will only to continue to get worse.
No hard feelings. Just my thoughts. Agree with them or not, what I state that they have done in the past is true, and others here can freely decide to do what they want. Take care.

The intent of starting this thread was to inform other 2A folks that a blatantly anti-gun company is opening up here.
It occurred to me that many people here might not be familiar with the recent news regarding Dicks corporate actions.

I'm well versed with the situation regarding Dick's.
Using your logic, it would be impossible to shop anywhere here in Hawaii, being that +90% of vendors and retailers that aren't gunshops are anti-2a.
Foodland
Safeway
Times
Whole foods
Down to eartg
Longs/CVS
Wal-Mart
Target
Costco
Sams
These are just a few cmpanies that have demonstrated anti-2a sentiment locally or nationally. Are you telling me you don't shop at any of these retailers, or other retailers that aren't listed?
A principle or ideology needs to apply universally, or it is simply hypocrisy. If You say not to shop at Dick's because they are anti-2a and 2a issues are important to you, yet readily shop at another vendor who is anti-2a, then it becomes contradictory, and your opinion becomes irrelevant.
-
Did any of the above stores hire lobbyists to go to congress to push anti gun laws?
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-05-03/dick-s-sporting-goods-ramps-up-gun-control-push-hires-lobbyist
If any of them did I would like to know.
-
Like you said ".....that aren't gunshops".
Why are we even comparing Dicks to Walmart? LOL. Jesus. Are you just trying to argue to argue? The difference between those places and Dicks is that Dicks pretends to be an outdoors and GUN AND AMMO store. The others sell food and clothes. Also the others haven't screwed over dedicated 2A customers when there are gun panics. Their own freaking loyal customers dude! How does this not bother you.
Clearly you are happy that a big pretty and flashy "gun" store is coming to Hawaii. I guess, cool? Yippie? Go enjoy it. Good for you man. It's not really that great after you walk in once or twice, and they bone their customers, but whatever, go enjoy it. I'm happy for you. I hope that one day I can be as excited as you about a place opening, and there will be a surplus machine gun and tank store down the street from me either in Hawaii or Texas, but I think I may be waiting longer. :(

There is a difference between anti-gun and being anti-gun but in the industry.
Dicks once sold AR's, but chose to stop due to political pressure (MDS shooting). That's the difference. If they decided on their own to stop or what ever, then it wouldn't be as bad.
But Dicks bowed down to Hogg and his lemmings. Timing is the key. Like when Yetti decided to stop their NRA affiliation. They claim it was thought about for a while now, but the timing was bad for them to announce it.
My Pillow never bowed down. I actually am going to buy a $60 pillow just to show him my support.

It was a cheese ball decision for Dick's. They made the business decision that they would rather support the soccer mom's who buy sporting equipment for their children rather than support 2a rights.

I was stoked Dick's is coming.
Now my son can try on baseball shoes and check out bats and gloves. ( doesn't mean I 'd buy them but at least I'd be pretty sure they fit)
Without having to buy sight/fit unseen online.
Get a new freestanding basketball hoop and backboard. (On sale without double the cost of the hoop in shipping.)
Does anyone on here have young or youthful children? You gonna deny them the equipment you can't get anywhere else in Hawaii since Sports Authority left?
But if the above article is true....that changes the whole game.

I look at people and organizations as a whole and how it benefits or hurts me. 2a is important but there is a lot more to life. Do they help the community? Protect other rights? Save me time and money? Donate to charity?
A store woukd have to do a lot more to prevent me from doing business there.
-
I think the hypocrisy and ignorance (?) of continuing to sell other firearms while removing AR-15s shows they are not serious about the issue one way or the other.
They are virtue signaling -- pretending to take the PC high road even though the decision doesn't really have a net effect on public safety.

Finsbury LLC = Roland Rudd who is a George Soros associate.
These people do not want any guns whatsoever.
Whatever the chain of cause and effect, it is certain that Open Democracy and the entire Soros empire are engaged in a full-scale battle to prevent the UK leaving the EU. Its contributors include Roland Rudd, the brother of Amber Rudd, who was a major figure in and behind Britain Stronger in Europe, the designated Remain organisation.
Mr Rudd is the UK lynchpin in the aggressive £13.7 billion drive by Soros – the amount he has just donated to his ‘charitable’ interests such as Open Democracy – to achieve EU integration, allow fully open borders, and smash the nation state.

You can always go try it on in the store then order online form a less politically polarizing retailer. Kids may have to wait a bit but seems like kids these days have immediate gratification issues that could use some work.

Yeah, that was my point.
At least we could try them on / check them out before ordering.
I don't care they stopped selling AR's.
They're not a gun shop. They're a sporting goods store.
Plenty places we can get AR's and support local retailers.
Hiring Lobbyists to lobby Congress for more gun restrictions is something else though.

Dicks, or any individual, corporation, etc for that matter is free to support whatever they feel is right. And then consumers are also free to choose continue to support or not support based on those actions.
That said, I believe what Dicks did was shortsighted and a kneejerk reaction to the "we have to do something" mentality that tends to lead to folks wanting to ban guns or at minimum, look to create new gun restrictions that will have little to no effect on the issue. But it is their emotional effort and investment that will make them feel good about having "done something" all while not really changing anything.
Yeah, but it does suck to have less options for decent sporting goods stuff. Walmart and Kmart sells trash. There are specialty stores around, but less and less.

Many times, I like to try things on, like for shoes and stuff. Yeah, Amazon has a free return on most shoes, but it's still a PITA to return. I also miss having a local shop that you can get things last minute. Have to think ahead more with Amazon.
