Schizophrenic lib article.
It's a lame attempt to write a balanced article about the right to carry.
One of the co-authors of that article has 2 MA degrees, linguistics and modern languages.
I guess that's what passes as qualification to write about crime and punishment for TWP.

They mention the number of successes and failures of the good guy with a gun. What's difficult to measure is how many active shooters are deterred by the possibility of a CCW nearby. I imagine that the Oklahoma shooter was trying to get shot. It just happened to be that the civilians get to him first.

usually criminals aren't trained as much as CCW holders.
The difference is that We have constraints (the law) while the criminal operates without any moral constraints.

I thought it was a good article written from a neutral position.
CCW encounters are a lose - lose situation. The best outcome is to walk away with everything you previously had and no more lives are lost. Most people don't have the proper training which is why I stress training and scenario practice. Still CCW benefits society stopping or preventing attacks like this at occasional risk of a bad outcome.

Didn't read the whole thing, but seems like the response by those two guys prevented further loss of lives, so
Seems like a mess that could have gone very bad with two guys pursuing the attacker. Seemed like the attacker was pointed out to one of them, but maybe not the other, so some potential for mistaking who the attacker was.

Agree. The situation coulda gotten real messy if the shooter was inside the restaurant and the two civilians entered the building from both sides. With the shooter outside in the open makes me think that the shooter wanted to get shot.
