Report says they recovered a firearm at the scene. Hopefully one of the invaders dropped it and will be a good lead to get them.
And to the homeowner

So why not call it a self-defense rifle? Seeing how anytime a bad guy uses an ar it’s called a assault rifle

Yup, easy pick up as the criminal undoubtedly registered his firearm.
I mean , that's what the law is for, right ?   >:D

Thought about that possibility, but hopefully not.  Also hopefully the guy has a few other firearms.  If he doesn't, hope he looks to get another as the value in defending his home has been proven.

Yup, guarans it's registered.  That IS what the laws are for.    [/end slight sarcasm]

Maybe I've been watching to many shows like NCIS and the like.  Need the forensic scientists to find trace DNA at the scene.  The attackers probably shit themselves when they were shot at.  Wishful thinking. . .  ;D

There has to be a backstory on this.
That area of Maui was/is the home of the infamous Maui Wowie pakalolo.
It's where all the "peace, love, dope" Caucasians migrated to in the 60's

"peace, love, dope"

maybe that's what's engraved on the select fire on his AR

How come the media didn't refer to it as an assault rifle?

How come he only fired one round with an AR15?

Wasn't "full semi-automatic" and the "clip" wasn't loaded.

The person who fired the AR-15 found it horrifying, dangerous and very very loud. The recoil bruised his shoulder,
and he suffered temporary PTSD from the explosion, which felt like a bazooka — and sounded like a cannon.

I understand completely why he stopped after one round.  No one needs to endure that much suffering to use a firearm.
