How often do you folks shoot? Understand that many are here for a variety of reasons. 2a activism, interest in firearms in general, interest in shooting, interest in arguing with folks online. . .
Thought it would be interesting to see how many are interested in shooting. I really enjoy shooting and why I am into firearms. However, I very much do appreciate those who show appreciation by collecting firearms.

Your poll choices doesn't have more than once a week.

I was gonna put an option for "every day" and "a few times a week", but couldn't get the button to add more options to work. Can't seem to edit the poll now.
We'll day "once a week" is "once a week, or more".
-
I go about every other week, maybe 3 out of 4 weeks
I'd go more but some weeks I gotta do yard work or some other BS
I think I'm a little of both shooter/collector but I shoot everything I own. also interested in the politics of firearms and 2A bc it affects what I like to do
I like collecting Ruger revolvers and shooting them, as well as bolt action rifles, building AR's, reloading
over the years, my interests have evolved a little. I'm sure it will evolve more over time

I do not own any firearms, ammunition, nor reloading components...

Pretty much same for me. I used to go once a week. Now, I'm about once a month if I'm lucky. Occasionally I'll go a few times a month, but that's not normal. Lots of "adulting" to do.
I am somewhat of a collector as I am interested in all sorts of guns, but just not enough $$$ to "spread the wealth". I also shoot all guns that I own, though some more than others. I'm not against a safe-queen, but just everything I currently own are shooters. I am also keenly interested in 2A issues and happenings and try to get involved where I can.
I have always been interested in firearms. The last 10 years or so have been in ARs as well as training, as well as competition. I used to be really interested in long range and precision shooting, but that sort of got put on back burner. Been wanting to mod the Rem 700 for a while.

I shoot my handgun 2 to 4 times a week, mostly pest control on my property. Actual target practice, once every two or three weeks. Depends how long I am on Oahu where I do no shooting and I go there at least once a month. 99.5% of my shooting is with a handgun. I rarely shoot my rifles.

Ditto
But if I did, I would not be a collector or have any safe queens, just a basic "3 gun package" which I would focus on. ;)
Anything more than a handful is wasted.

Just my luck, my "weekend" days off happen to be the 2 days that the range is closed.
So maybe once per month if I claim a vacation day. :(
-
Depends on how recently I was on vacation. I’ve got the run of my parents farm to shoot out to 500 yards and plink 2 liters, 12 oz soda, fruit, aerosol cans, steel, or whatever. It takes a couple months to get excited about shooting paper again. Then it’s every other Sunday to get out from underfoot of the cleaning ladies.

I used to go out twice a month, religiously. It was my Zen time. This was in addition to LIFE and HRA monthly events, which I don't consider "shooting," but would certainly count as "day spent at the range."
Now, I honestly have no idea how long ago my last trip was. I mean, I did just get back from two months of travelling, so that screws up any answer, but before that, I doubt I was going once a month.
What happened? No one thing. Burnout as an instructor. Over-attendance at club shoots such as HDF and HRA. Plus, I go thru cycles about my enthusiasms: rifle, shotgun, pistol. They pulled the steel targets from the rifle range as I was just getting into a rifle phase, which really took the wind out of my sails.
Elsewhere in my life, I've been getting back into independent filmmaking. Hawaii Filmmakers Collective is becoming more a part of my life. And there's only so much time for doing fun things :(
I did just kill my first pig, which may catalyze a change. And I did just bring home the family smokepole, which may initiate a new cycle. Hard to say.
I miss being at a bench, doing my own thing. I miss shooting with a buddy or two.
-
Define "shoot"
Powder burners only, or airgun practice as well?

That certainly lowered my motivation level to shoot rifle and that funk affected me for a while. But I hear you on going through cycles. Right now, I'm back in the cycle of shooting more, or at least trying to shoot more often.

Yeah, airgun too!
I would draw the line at airsoft or paintball as they aren't what I had in mind, but if folks do that, then right on too.
-
I am hoping once my kids are of shooting age I will go more than a few times a year.
It would be nice if the state or city could have another range closer to ewa side so those guys don't have to trek two hours just to shoot.
-
Ive been busy with work for a while so try and make it out once a week. I got a major pistol competition in a couple months so ill be shooting 3 or 4 times a week soon.
-
One, maybe two days per week if I am lucky, but not nearly as much as I used to since I find myself with much less time.
-

Never seen macsak shoot anyways. Kind of just shows up to watch and hang out. Enter surf ninja's reference (Rob schinder and surfing)
-
Was gonna add a few more options, like “not nearly enough as I want to” or “not nearly as often as I should”.
I wish I could shoot 1-2 times a week at a range where I could set up a target and do my thing. Plenty of ranges like that on the mainland. Was awesome. But think I’d go broke on ammo. :(
-
Seeing Mac shoot is like searching for big foot. Folks need to keep your heads on a swivel... :o ???

So long I've forgotten what it all feels like. The closest I've been is doing airsoft with my son over a year ago. Why...? Life... Coaching youth sports, attending youth sports, doing scouts, work...
Ugh

I try to go every week. Mostly rifle shooting. This weekend will be going to the silly side. Good chance to shoot lots of 22’s and big revolvers.

Sorry to hear you have a funeral. Condolences :(

Considering all indoor ranges in Hawaii are pricey, I’m mostly shooting .22 on the fun range. Got a few of friends and co-workers wanting to get into firearms so gotta keep my ammo costs low :P

When I first started shooting handguns, I would sometimes shoot 300-400 rounds. This was when I lived in WA and one of the ranges there had this pretty cool game where it projected targets on a net in the range. You would shoot the targets and they'd explode. Kind of like duck hunt but with real handguns. The ammo costs were much cheaper then too. . .
I used to take many friends shooting. But then they started inviting their friend and family to try. I mean I'm down for that, but I ended up having them go buy ammo.

Bring your Glock anyway. You can still hit that huge plate out at 50 meters!!! 😛😛😛

I'm not even exaggerating but there was a bunch of young soldiers shooting shotguns 50y on the rifle side. I was two benches away. One of them was super recoil sensitive and the rest was all laughing and clowning with him. Whatever all fun and games. I go to pull my target and have a huge hole from a slug in my frame 2 benches away another in the cardboard. Yes it is possible to miss a 4X4 plate.

Thanks guys. As I get older, it seems like I attend more and much more frequently. It's part of life. Mahalo!!

I know what you mean. Just lost my hanai father last week. There won’t be a service otherwise I would be going back for it.

Yikes! Sadly I believe it.
A buddy’s uncle would “setup” his brother. His brother doesn’t own guns, but enjoys shooting here and there. Anyways, the gun owning uncle loads up a couple 3” slugs after a couple birdshot.
Round 1 - Bam, yeah!
Round 2 - Bam, yeah!
Round 3 - Boom! Oh f!&k! (As cousins laughing)
I’m there just shaking my head.

The wife missed that a few times. Hit about 12 feet in front and the road. But after getting warmed up, no problem.
So I told her if I was held hostage, go shoot at something else before attempting that head shot.

Definitely recoil anticipation.

There's been many times I watch someone bring out their big bore revolver on the silhouette side
I see it's a 500 or 460 or 454, so I stand back and just watch bc I love big bore revolvers
And sometimes they get the recoil flinch and hit the grass or dirt 10-20 feet short. I don't really react bc I've been there myself, but it is kind of funny. :D
-
I work the graveyard shift (12am - 8am) my only days off are during the week and most of my time is spent with my 6 month old. I try to go at least once a month to stay "proficient". I'm not a collector (due to low funds and small condo) so I only own one handgun. Thinking of getting a shotgun or some kind of rifle in the future and I'll be done after that.

Those buggahs brings out the flinch in me too. :(
Where’s dogman. He loves the big bore handguns too!

I hear ya. Adulting takes a bunch of time in our lives. Happy to hear that you have the desire to maintain proficiency. That’s a definite big step. Hopefully soon you can introduce your son to some 22 action and make it a regular thing.
I think a long gun is an excellent addition to handgun for defense. What are you looking at?

Most likely a shotgun as that probably is my cheapest option. Just need to figure out where to store it.
