Must've came from KHSC. Looks like pistol round, might cause them to limit pistol target side to 5ft

someone should do trajectory analyzippz

The whole area is a warzone so it doesn't really matter.

bullets don't fly

Difficult to tell where the bullet came from. Looks like a 9mm bullet which can travel about a mile or so. Or it could've been shot at a high angle. No one heard it in the area so fired at least a 1,000 feet away? So between about 1,000 feet and a mile away.
I'm surprised the front of the bullet took that much damage. I thought the petals would've stayed intact going through the rear glass.

more restrictions at KHSC...

There is a picture of the bullet?
Funny article. Says there was a bullet next to the headrest.
Cop says no bullet in the car.

Cop says no bullet in the car.
I think the Cop said no bullet was "lodged" anywhere in the car, so they think it may have been fired into the air.
I believe it's their way of saying there wasn't enough velocity to penetrate anywhere else in the car beyond the window.
Officers on scene told him the bullet could have come from anywhere.
"Upon further inspection, they found that the bullet wasn't lodged anywhere in the car so they
thought maybe it was shot in the air and it landed on my car," the victim said.

Right up the street from iwilei costco has multiple housings, chinatown, and aala park. Its 1 mile radius has a lot of undesirables.

So, what you're saying is there are lots of armed Cops in that area. :geekdanc:

KHSC is on borrowed time.
You don't need guns anyways. Just a big dog.
-
isn't costco is in a different direction than the pistol range is pointed? Also, isn't costco iwilei 1/3 of the way across the island, probalby like 15 miles?
i live in downtown area, and i can tell you, there is a bunch of random gunfire downtown/chinatown/kalihi that occurs that isn't reported by the media/cops unless something actually happens. even gunfire during the day can be missed. there's random loud noises, bangs, car tires blowing, etc. all day and most people wouldn't recognize or hear the gunshot in the first place.

I could not see the video on my tablet so I didn't know there was a picture of the bullet.
But I see the video on my pc now.
The bullet looks pretty busted up.
Karl Rhoads was right.
The bullet was fired by someone at Koko Head who was blatantly open-carrying a 3D printed gun.
It bounced off a rock and flew 15 miles, thereby proving that guns and bullets are out of control and need to be banned immediately.
BTW, I've sifted a lot of bullets from the backstop to melt down for casting and I've never seen a discoloration on the bearing surface only.
I wouldn't mind examining the bullet.

As respondsible gun owners we don't need this shit. Need to report that someone who let off this round.
-
The bullet was obviously shot from a straw.

Some things don't add up. Guy states he heard a shot and took cover with his family between cars and was crying. No one else in the area heard anything or took cover.
Granted, it could have been an empty lot, but if you've ever been to that Costco, it's always busy with people walking to their cars.
-
Someone took Joe Biden's home defense advice and fired shots aimlessly into the sky.
-
Maybe he had a gun in his car and it discharged

the article said saturday afternoon and super busy.
i thought it was weird that he heard a shot too, but hpd said it came from the sky. if it came from 1 mile away, you'd think he'd only hear the glass shattering, and not also a gunshot.
My guess is that someone actually discharged a handgun somewhere in the area, maybe not the immediate vicinity.

Watch/read it again. He said he heard a loud sound, turned around, and his rear windshield was shattered. The sound he's describing is a single sound, that of shattering glass. It's more clear if you listen to the video clip; the punctuation in the writeup makes it ambiguous.

projectile could have come from a cop's firearm
we have the toughest gun laws in the country, so nobody is carrying around in public. cops are the only ones carrying in public
-
This was a scare tactic to create fear and terror in the minds of Hawaii residents in the same week the right to carry was reaffirmed in the 9th circus.
Did anyone notice any Hawaii Kai residents in the area? Maybe a middle age guy buying 150 lbs of cat food?

shouldn't, because this was the iwilei costco, not the HK one. That's why its weird if the gun range was brought up.

The bullet was obviously shot from an assault straw.
;D

yeah, like a whole bunch for going thru glass, even damaged on the side
BTW, I've sifted a lot of bullets from the backstop to melt down for casting and I've never seen a discoloration on the bearing surface only.
I've never seen such uneven discoloration on the bearing surface of a newly fired round.
I wouldn't mind examining the bullet.
How about slingshot an expended round into the air towards Costco ?
50/50 you hit a car

I didn't want to mention any names. You know how lawyers love to go after you for slander and such.
