He's going to be in our backyard this weekend. Already did most of the prep when Hector came knocking earlier this month. Got water, got non-perishable foods, got a little camp stove, got lotsa batteries. I may be eating more tuna fish than I'd normally like, but I won't starve!

HK Costco only had the small (8oz) waters left last night
no one wanted to pay the extra deposit
next shipment was due in Thursday
Costco iwilei gas this morning was out to the sidewalk, but not yet into the street at 6:40 am

FYI,
I picked up a 2 pack of 12 VDC LED light bulbs (Directional) from NAPA.
2 pack came with 2 bulbs and 1 socket so I bought another socket.
Pack had a button on it so you could press to test brightness
$13.00 total.
Pretty bright when hooked to 12VDC car battery.
Just as bright with smaller 12 VDC lawnmower/alarm battery.
More convenient and easier to transport but probably would not last as long.

Yeah, got canned stuff like spam, tuna, Bernie weeny, etc etc. went on base got gas for the car and another 10 gal for the generator. Plenty of batteries, propane and camp stove. Have 3-22 gal water containers so hope that will be good for the old lady and me. No plywood for the windows though. Wonder when the gouging is gonna start? :thumbsup:

Freeze water in ziploc bags, if power goes out can use em in the cooler, then can drink em when it melts

My daughter-in-law "needed" body wash, so we just had to go to the store this evening...And it had to be Walmart. Of course being too young to know better, she didn't understand why I said HELL NO! I could've explained, but figured this would be a good learning experience.
There were lines of cars at the gas station causing a back up at the intersection. In the parking lot every fat bodied a-hole has to hold traffic because they need the closest possible space (half the lot was empty). Inside we grabbed what we needed and I decided it'd be good for her to see "WHY". Loads of people pushing carts were full of bottled water, rice, spam, dry ramen, toilet paper, batteries and whatever else (crap) people suddenly need. There were lots of empty shelves but store employees were moving pallets of stuff and dropping them in the aisle while customers hovered like vultures. When a couple of Walmartians started arguing about taking batteries out of someones cart, I turned and said time to go. Being oblivious she was there doing her instabook/twatter/facef*ck thing.... :wtf: 10 minutes in line and we walked out of there with her body wash and my 2 bottles of traffic cone orange nail polish.
I find it funny how crazy/stupid people are in the world. We're on a rock in the middle of the Pacific ocean...storms happen...people should be better prepared.

Seeing how panicky, irrational, and unprepared people are really makes me glad I own firearms. Maybe it’s just the psychology of Retail Therapy to burn off some steam but than again I can sense wide eyed desperation that goes beyond the typical Black Friday shopping-as-contact-sport mindset.

I use my empty Gatorade bottles for that, but Ziplock bags take less space. Just make sure you use the freezer bags.

I can't believe people still run to Costco in hordes for stuff like water and gas.
So sad.
It's not like we didn't have advanced warning.

I never understood why folks rush to get toilet paper. Do they only have enough toilet paper for like a week? I mean I'm not that well stocked, but I almost always have enough TP for many weeks.

I never understood why people would wait 10 mins (normal) and now 30 to fill up gas at Costco. How much are they really saving? I passed the 76 this morning by my home and only had 1 car. This was at 8am.
Even driving to Costco just for TP and water. I rather spend a few dollars more and not go through all the stress.

So I stopped to top off the tank.

Depending on your driving and MPG, saving a few dollars 8 or more times a month adds up to real money -- especially when prices are over $3.50/gal.
Not only is Costco normally less per gallon than most non-military retailers, using a Costco VISA card also saves 2%-5% on the purchase through your cash-back annual rebate, depending on your membership level and promos.

My wife has a phobia about running out of TP, so we are always stocked... :love:
We have a hard rule about never going below 1/2 tank of gas, and I scored 11 gallons of ethanol free before Hector, and ran the generator just to make sure. We keep canned stuff on hand as a matter of course, so really nothing to do but take down wind chimes, etc.
We have a small dipping pool of maybe1,500 gallons, so water should not be a concern with my filtering gizmo,

Texaco on Beretania and Keeaumoku was super bad too. The station near the NEX looked like a Costco. I guess folks like Texaco.

A guy was at Texaco but the stadium this morning and he said a few stations in Waipio were out!

I never understood why folks rush to get toilet paper. Do they only have enough toilet paper for like a week? I mean I'm not that well stocked, but I almost always have enough TP for many weeks.
One year my wife and I both stopped at Costco within an hour of each other on the way home one night before a hurricane warning. We both bought extra TP and probably had 6 months worth at that time. Besides having a good laugh over it, we still have some of that TP stashed away.

I worked with a lady who told me there was a TP shortage on Oahu in the 70s. Ever since then, she and many others she knows have purchased TP everywhere they went. They developed a habit of buying from outer island stores to bring back to Oahu.
She said she took a look in her cabinets a few years ago, and she had TP in every closet, cabinet, storage space and anywhere else she could stash it.

A high school classmate’s mother was a TP hoarder. Something like when she passed, there were rooms full of TP. Like many years worth of TP for a whole family.

My friend just showed me the new ADU they added. The bathroom had a Toto toilet with a remote control unit. Press a button and the lid lifts up. You can sit, make your deposit, press a button and get your butt hole squirted with water, press dry and a blow dryer will dry you up. No need toilet paper or even have to wash your hands. He said he never tried it but his wife does.

Loaded my range mags last night for the AR. I remember watching a show about the Tet Offensive. Some bases were unprepared. So they had to put soldiers on a deuce and a half to transport them to the gates. But since they were not expecting an attack ever, many didn't have any loaded mags. So they had to load them as they were in route to the gates.
This is a very time consuming process. So I can imagine how long it would take and being under stress. But i believe when it happened, the 20 rounders were being used.
