I’d rather have the paid day off than to work at time and a half. :wtf:

Been a crazy past few days for me. Worked a 12 hour shift in Hilo on Saturday and just made the last flight out and dropped off FNRA tickets at night . Worked an early day shift yesterday then went to FNRA. Got a call during the banquet to work another graveyard shift. Then got a couple hours sleep then back to another day shift Doing surprisingly well for just a few hours of sleep in 72 hours.

I came to Oahu for work, so yes I did work today and didn’t mind it. What I don’t want to do is work on Saturdays during the college football season.

worked today

Motorcycle maintenance and much much more. Hopefully this will be enough to get me through winter before the next major service interval. It's not exactly chill time or work but then again I didn't have to earn money to pay someone else to screw it up.

Trying to get there myself. I have an early retirement plan but it involves living off of savings until SS kicks in. It’s not ideal, but it is tempting. :worship: :worship: :worship:

Wish I was there. I really don’t get to shoot enough.

I feel your pain.
I was originally told I would only get paid for the OT I worked and the rest of the 8 hour day would be holiday pay. As it turns out my company told me to take the full 8 hours of holiday pay AND the OT I worked. So instead of having my preferred paid day off they paid up for my having to work. They treat me very well here. I shouldn’t be whining. I’m just at that point in my life that I prefer the time off to the extra pay.

You did something for yourself. That is worth more than pay in my opinion.

I’m off Friday too. ;D
Will be working in a way as I’m getting home improvement stuff taken care of and helping family with flooding issues at their house.
And it sounds like your company does appreciate you. That’s very rare these days.

Family comes first IMHO. I feel that this sort of “work” for family is not really work. It is satisfying knowing you helped a loved one. You don’t get that when you work for a company.
They are sending me to Lanai tomorrow. It will be my first trip there.
There is one thing I am having a hard time getting used to working for this company. They ASK ME if I want to go to Lanai. They ASK ME if I want to work at a particular project every day. I’m so used to being told which project to go to that it takes me aback when they ask me if I want to go. My first reaction is NO I don’t want to work anymore. But then reality kicks in. I have never turned down a project from them. I just wonder what they would do if I did?

Yeah. That's not work, as opposed to something that I have planned for that day other than nothing. Plus I get to see my aunt and uncle, which I don't get to see very often.
Are you technically a contractor for them? From that I recall, I had the impression that was the case. I have only interacted with a few of the folks there and I actually applied there when I was preparing to move back to Hawaii. Seemed like really good people, but just wasn't the right kind of work and office at the time.

No, I’m a full fledged employee. Things are a little slow at the moment. We have a lot of work starting soon. So I should be back working every day soon.
You are lucky that you have family here. You can visit anytime you want. While I have been able to deal with not seeing my family very often, it has been over 3 years now since I have spent time with them and I am feeling a little weird about it. I have plans to visit next year so I am looking forward to it but still only 5 days doesn’t seem like enough.
