I saw that scandal but I looked at the zoomed in image of the trinket on her shelf and it didn't match the watermelon eating image people were posting suggesting it was.

I understand that someone could be given wrong info about their family background. But the problem is that she made millions off of that info. And her mom isn't able to confirm "yeah, I told her she's Indian".
And she isn't Indian enough that she should be allowed to benefit from it. That's like my coworker who's pinky toe is Hawaiian and he wants to apply for homestead land.
As conservatives I think we should refrain from giving credence to the liberal crap about who is what race, how much is enough, and what it should get you (or take away from you). I take her at her word, that her relative told her she is native american and that she trusted her relative. My relative told me we are native american so I put it on my college forms. Was she supposed to not trust her relative and not list anything just because her skin is too white? I just don't see this as an issue we should lend credence too even if she is ass backwards on guns. (For the record I now currently refuse to put any race on forms)
Conservatives are (generally) against affirmative action but now we are going to come out and stipulate a certain percentage of minority someone has to be? I find that inconsistent. I don't think anyone has the standing to tell anyone else they aren't black enough or white enough or native american enough. It's an arbitrary line. I once new a black guy who had a skin condition where he lacked pigment so his skin looked like a white guy. Culture on the other hand is a different issue.

Well now I refuse to put anything, except for the gun permits because I don't want to get into an argument or test what happens if I refuse to put my race on the form.
Though since I never really liked the idea of racial preference I might put native american just to mess with the system.
But about people checking Hawaiian I know that happens all the time.
Were the forms she filled out 1 choice only or multi-choice? But either way, I don't care. If someone ¼ native american can list their race to their advantage why not someone 1/6th or 1/32nd?

My philosophy is that the flaw is with the system, not with what she did. The system dangled candy out in front of her and she legitimately took it.
The real problem is with the system that tries to give preference based on race. That system is what creates this market for questionable claims.
It's like giving all sorts of tax exemptions and then complaining when people take them by calling them loopholes.

I agree, she may have had no idea that she was not indian. But the fact is that even if she was (1/1024 doesn't count), she used it to move through the ranks. How do I know, she pulls more nordic than indian, just look at her. Like if she was half, it would show. Or even 1/4 it would show. But then the question is what % is acceptable to use for financial gain? See my example above I posted. If my friend who pulls more haole than hawaiian (pinky toe reference), applied for a school and used Hawaiian as his main race and got in due to that fact, would society be okay with that? Say he applied at The University of WA. I know they look to get that demographic in because my other friend got in because she's 25% Hawaiian.
