Police arrested 30-year-old Kelsey Kimiko Matsukawa and 33-year-old Jacob Lopaka Ruff for burglary.
Matsukawa was also arrested for resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle for police.
Both already have extensive criminal pasts.
Matsukawa has 34 convictions including forgery and ID theft.
Ruff has 24 convictions including burglary and numerous drug charges.
"Hopefully we can get people that want to do harm or steal from others off of the street," the victim said.
He said he is lucky he came home when he did and he hopes Matsukawa and Ruff are
punished for their crimes.

What kind of deplorable person would want to punish people simply because they had the deck stacked against them from birth due to their economic conditions, their educational deficiencies, their learning disabilities, and their parent's (fill in the blank: addictions, absence, abuse, etc.)?
These are good boys who have merely been led astray by their surroundings and the society that capitalism has created wherein they are made to suffer through no fault of their own, leaving them only the option to commit crimes to get by while surrounded by elitist working people who bring home paychecks and have all the luxuries these poor boys cannot afford unless they steal and rob. They simply need to be given a chance to succeed with all the help provided by taxpayers to make it possible for them to game the system learn a trade so they can only rob and steal on rare occasions rather than a daily basis. They need to be given as many chances as necessary to adapt to the horrible conditions they live in which unrealistically and unfairly expects them to be law-abiding contributing working members of society. The horror! Where's your feeling for your fellow man?

I know. It just got copied from your post. It was directed at the victim's statement. It was total sarcasm. Here's my non-sarcastic point of view: the system should permanently prevent these people from ever harming anyone ever again.
You know if someone has been arrested, prosecuted and convicted for 34 crimes that they likely have committed thousands, at least hundreds of crimes for which they were NOT arrested or prosecuted or convicted. What's the point of keeping people like this around? They've clearly proven their value to society, now society should demonstrate how it values their value.

What's the point of keeping people like this around? They've clearly proven their value to society, now society should demonstrate how it values their value.
The 3-strikes laws were created to stop the revolving door of injustice. Judges seemed to be unwilling to take a heuristic view of repeat offenders and career criminals, giving them chance after chance with minor consequences.
At some point, the impact and future risks to society demand a more definitive solution to these crimes.
Not saying incarceration is the only option. Just saying, what they are doing makes things worse -- not better. If it's drug-related crime (stealing to support a habit), letting them out to continue that behavior is stupid.
