Title: Antique Glass Floats

Wondering if anyone could give me a bit more info on a glass float ball I've had for years.  My understanding is that they were used before plastic ones became the norm due to cost and weight I'm guessing.

I have a green one that is 35" in circumference with a little less than a quarter of water in it.  There's no markings on it as well. 

Was hoping to get some info on how how common these are a the value of them.
