It is about as "true" as him calling himself a mass shooting survivor when he wasn't even in school when the shooting occurred. He is nothing more than a grandstanding asshole.

There's a difference between sarcasm over a false claim of "7 assassination attempts"

and actually being in a coma with a REAL chance of dying soon.

I'm willing to bet that the force would be a better anti 2a argument, because a bullet won't stop a Jedi or dark side practicer. Because if you really had that many assassination attempts, you should be carrying the thing you're fighting against.
