See the snark from candidate (New Ager) Marianne Williamson tweeting that she'll have to learn Spanish by tonight (she's in "debate" #2)? Someone else tweeted that "Mayor Pete" will be dropping six languages tonight. What a joke. I had to turn it off when the Telemundo "moderator" went on his diatribe (including partly in Spanish) about the criminal treatment of illegal aliens at the border... I didn't even get to the part of it that might have maybe eventually been a question. What's with Tulsi's acne?

Didn't listen in, but. . .

1) Reading liberal "acquaintances" discussing (in passing, on social media, etc) it's mind boggling the perspective.  One college classmate basically said "Warren or bust", because she "just can't vote for a male".  How about you vote for the best candidate?  I mean, everyone is free to vote for whomever they damn well please, but really?   :wtf:

2) Even NPR was making fun of the Spanish thing.  One very liberal interviewee even made fun that some of the candidates spoke in Spanish and some "tried to speak in Spanish".

3) Didn't hear one national level commentary/coverage mention Tulsi.

Worst reason to vote for someone.  Like how Barry was elected because he's black.  And what has he done for the black community...ZERO.  But same goes with parties.  Some vote GOP/DNC just because of party.  For me, I look at many variables.  But most shift me toward GOP.  Biggest one is gun control.

like how people from Hawaii voted for BHO, because he's "from here"
and he didn't do shit for Hawaii except for creating a huge ocean preserve that no one goes to anyways

my brother likes to say that he lived here as long as BHO did, from intermediate school through high school

I can't tell you how many folks I know voted for Schatz just because he's a Punahou grad.  I would ask what they thought about "X" issue and they were like, "I have no idea".

Same for BHO.  Yeah, all good to be proud of local folks, but need to use logic and reason over emotion. . .

We know which of the 2 parties use emotion vs. logic.

There was a rep in another state who only got 5 votes.  His own family even didn't vote for him.  They used logic I guess.

I consider myself to be a citizen of the American
state of Hawaii.
I use Veteran and senior citizen discounts,
I'm not part of the land here or anywhere.  Much of that
Hawaiian stuff is used to gain a political

I've seen how "real" Hawaiians are treated

NBC News analysis declares Donald Trump the winner of first Democratic debate

Quote
An NBC News analyst declared President Trump the winner of the first Democratic presidential debate of the 2020 election cycle.

Author and reporter Jonathan Allen expressed surprise that Trump emerged "largely unscathed" as the field of 10 candidates mostly avoided direct attacks on him.

Allen said the Democrats seemed more focused on positioning themselves furthest to the left to win over primary voters, rather than appealing to the swing voters that decided the 2016 election.

"For long stretches, it seemed, they completely forgot about the man who has been at the center of pretty much every discussion among Democrats for the last two-plus years — the man they're competing to take on next year. The obvious reason: The motivation to beat each other was, on this night, more urgent than defeating Trump — a life-or-death moment for some of their campaigns. Trump was the chief beneficiary of that dynamic," Allen wrote.

Not putting a lot of stock on that opinion, but I've heard similar feedback from many liberal "news" sources.

I'm on the younger side, how many clips were y'all able to fit into a gun before this hero came riding into town? In regards to smart guns NJ is leading the charge with S101 which has passed the house and senate and is heading to Gov. Murphy's desk. The law would require dealers to carry at least one model of smart gun in their inventory, it seems like a pointless attempt at virtue signaling. Perhaps the government should lead by example and have their agents of state switch their arsenal to only smart guns. I will begin writing politicians and selling them on the benefits of this smart gun tech. Biden seems very passionate about this, perhaps he wouldn't mind his SS agents beta testing it for us.

Here's how the NY Post covered that moment (Yes, they ALL did raise their hands, but they cropped the photo for aesthetic purposes. Also, did anyone else notice that at all these moments of one or the other all announcing free whatever for everyone that the loudest audience screams seemed to be coming from high school or maybe college age females? That was weird.):

As was discussed on The Five today, these Dim candidates seem to have no understanding of "incentives."

We have too many people coming to the US illegally. People (incl. kids) are dying.

Why?

Because they know they can abuse the system and get to stay if they claim asylum.

Now add free healthcare, decriminalized border crossing, and abolishment of ICE.

Crazy.

Trump's deal with Mexico is already impacting the number of illegals crossing into the US.  Mexico deployed an additional 1,500 reserve military to the US-Mexico border.

We need the laws changed so that asylum requests must be filed at the US embassy or consulate in their country of origin, or in the first safe country they enter.  No more "just passing through" asylum seeker caravans from Central and South America traversing Mexico.

It's not disturbing that Democrats are pandering by offering free giveaways to the "lower classes" and claiming it'll be paid for by the "wealthiest 1%".

What disturbs me is, after decades of the same charade, there are still people who believe them.  Obamacare is recent enough that even young voters should be able to get a clue.  They LIED to pass Obamacare (you can keep your plan & doctor, average family will save $2600/year, the mandate is a "fee", not a tax, it'll pay for itself through efficiencies and fraud controls as if Obamacare will be different than current programs, ...).  "We have to pass it so we can see what is in it."  Pig in a poke.

They even had the architect of the plan admit openly that the program only passed because of the stupidity of the average voter.

100% of Republicans voted against it.  Only Democrats voted for Obamacare.  That's not the way to have a successful program that's larger than any existing government program, especially one that wants to take over 1/6 of the US economy (Healthcare).

It's also disturbing that Bernie threw off the disguise of just being a "caring" Liberal and went full Socialist in plain sight.  Now, the Liberals are trying to out "Santa Claus" HIM!!

Think about that.  If the declared Socialist in the room wants to promise free X, Y and Z, and you're offering that PLUS A, B, C, D and E, what does that make you?

Free?  SOMEBODY has to pay for it all.  Bernie finally admitted in the debate that his plan would raise taxes on all tax payers.  The math already told us that, but at least the media is starting to get that fact front and center -- not like they refused to do in 2016.

Socialism is an ideology of entitlement, envy and hatred.  The dogma strives to make the majority hate the rich with the promise of redistributing that wealth directly to the less wealthy.  It has failed every time it's been tried.

The Sander's Campaign says CNN has lost any journalistic integrity they may have had after publishing the exchange between himself and Pocahontas Warren right after the 1/14/2020 debate ended. The debate was sponsored and moderated by CNN.

The exchange was captured on audio and video, even though the audio was not broadcast at the time.

In response to the public release of the audio in which both candidates accuse the other of calling him/her "a liar", the Sander's Campaign announced they will remove ALL CONTENT (advertising?) from CNN.

Title: Re: DNC Debate

Would this be the first time that there is no GOP debate because no one can run against Trump?

Primary debates (and elections) are held to weed out a party's field of candidates running to be the nominee.

If the incumbent President is running for another term, they are always the presumptive party nominee.  It would be foolish for another candidate to run for the party nomination unless the incumbent could be easily beaten.

Primaries are run by the party in each state. There is nothing that says a primary election is even required if the party delegates have already decided the incumbent is their nominee. That means there's no way for another candidate to win the nomination.  Unless the convention becomes contested, meaning somehow the incumbent failed to get more than 50% of delegates to support him, the nomination is a lock.

If the GOP primaries are held, and no GOP candidate gets more than 50% of the delegates, then the convention becomes contested.  They hold round after round of voting by delegates.  The first round, they must vote by their state's primary results.  Some states award all delegates to the winner of their primary election, and others award a proportion of delegates to each candidate based on the % of votes received.  After that round of voting, if no candidate gets >50% of delegates' votes, they vote again, this time unbinding some of the states' delegates from their primary election results.  If that fails to name a winner, they hold another round unbinding more delegates.  Basically, they let more and more delegates vote their preference versus voting the way the state's primary voters wanted them to vote.

Eventually when a candidate reaches >50% of delegates, a nominee is named.

So, if the party doesn't hold primary elections, all delegates are free to vote their preferences.  Hypothetically, if REAL evidence of a REAL crime is made public that the incumbent needs to be impeached over, and impeachment takes longer than the date of the convention, it's possible another candidate can win over enough delegates to replace the incumbent as the nominee -- no debates, no primary campaigning, and no significant fundraising to that point.

I actually believe Bernie on this one. I have watched videos of his discussions on this subject and he has said he believes a woman can be elected president. Warren has a habit of lying and has lost most of her credibility. I believe she is lying about this. While Bernie’s ideas are wild and expensive, he is sincere in his beliefs. And that comes across when he speaks. He is also consistent and doesn’t change or plagiarize his policies from others like Warren does. He also doesn’t back down from them when they are criticized like Warren does.

I also believe the DNC is terrified that Bernie can win the nomination. They are backing Biden. It looks pretty obvious to me that the impeachment articles being transmitted when they did is an attempt to take some delegate away from Bernie since he will be tied up with the trial for a while.

1.  Warren is a corporate lackey.
2.  Warren appropriated Bernie's campaign's entire list of issue positions without going to the trouble of declaring her adoption of Socialism.
3.  Warren's got a plan for everything except for how to win the nomination using all her plans.
4.  Warren has been caught in a bunch of public lies:
     - Ethnic background (Pocahontas)
     - Being fired from teaching for being "noticeably pregnant" (never happened)
     - Her kids went to both public and private schools, not just public as she told voters (lie of omission)
     - promised to serve her full Senate term if reelected in 2018; her 2020 presidential run began a few weeks after she won that election
     - Said her father was a janitor, but her brother says that's not true
5.  Her poll numbers have been steadily falling
6.  She's now playing the victim card, the misogynist card and the gender card all directed at Bernie
7.  CNN did a "Candy Crowley" by throwing Warren a lifeline designed to imply Bernie was the liar.  It's very possible the entire thing was staged by Warren and CNN to get Bernie out of the race.  That helps Warren's standing, and CNN gets the same thing they were helping Hillary do in 2016 -- ensure Sanders isn't the nominee.

I think voters are so tired of the Dems and Media (repetitious?) gaming the primaries for a predetermined nominee, they will wind up voting for Bernie to spite these election rigging snakes.

One thing the Dems have been very careful of is attacking other candidates out of fear those candidates' supporters would be unlikely to switch their votes to the attacker out of retaliation.  It's a game of predicting voters will think "I'll vote for X because X has pissed me off the least of all those running."  A low profile can have advantages.

I don't think Bernie voters will switch to a nominated Warren or Bloomberg.  Most likely they won't vote or will write his name in again like 2016.  Unless they are more anti-Trump than pro-"another Dem besides Bernie", Bernie losing will hurt all of the Dem's chances.

A whole lot of Bernie's supporters voted for Trump to protest the way Bernie's chances were rigged against Hildabeast.  They wanted to punish her for the unfair way he was treated.

It worked -- bigly!!
