Army 1st Sergeant Matt Corrigan was woken in the middle of the night, forced out of his home, arrested, had his home ransacked, had his guns seized and was thrown in jail -- where he was lost in the prison system for two weeks -- all because the District refuses to recognize the meaning of the Second Amendment. This week, the city dropped all charges against Sgt. Corrigan, but the damage done to this reservist cannot be so easily erased.
This story will describe how Sgt. Corrigan went from sleeping at home at night to arrested. Subsequent installments of the series will cover the home raid without a warrant, the long-term imprisonment and the coverup by MPD.
Check out the link, this is a definite eye opener for anyone, not just servicemembers, on what could happen merely based off of what you say or type. Even though the guy walked away a free man, the courts destroyed him. Also of note, the article lists Hawaii as one of only 4 jurisdictions within the United States that requires registration of all firearms; the others being Chicago, New York City, and Washington DC.

Don't ever ask anyone from the government for help with anything, ever. Ever.

D.C. is its own little country where the the Constitution itself doesn't exactly apply. Kinda like the Vatican isn't really in Rome or even Italy.
But, still... that's just screwed up.
OK. Law is law and those firearms should have been registered. But a SWAT team wake up call is NOT due process.
At least they knocked. If they hadn't and he thought his home was being invaded he'd be dead.

Way to thank one of our many service personnel.

Good Lord, what were they thinking?? I hope 1stSgt Corrigan gets his guns back soon!

There is such a thing as being charged for having multiple caliber? but then again he should of registered within the 72 hr period. I Did it the next day by taking a taxi to hpd.

Happened in Washington DC, not Hawaii.
