Very sad, great barrels. Hope they had insurance and can rebuild.

The owner stated it's insured but also said included in the $4-5 million estimate is equipment that took a lifetime for him to find. At 66 years old, he may not have time to rebuild.
A while back I was curious and looked up gun drills. Those are pretty much custom order and the associated lead-time as well. That's just one aspect of the process and doesn't include the machine to handle the drill. The machine itself would have to be trued as well. For precision barrels, that can take a while if the machine has a lot of variance.
I would really like the company to continue but the road will be a hard one.

Yeah, didn't think of that. These precision rifle barrel makers have good stuff that they just don't really make any more. Much of the heavy machinery needed to do this type of work just doesn't exist in this day and age.
Too much "good enough for government work" action.

As I know, Pac Nor had 3 and 4 groove AR barrels. I read that it may factor in longevity due to smaller number of lands and grooves and less pressure; but I never had the chance to buy a couple and test.

Looks like they're going to rebuild! Yay!
