Psychologically, the holiday season IS the most stressful time of the year for lot of reasons.
The disparity between affluent and destitute causes heightened resentment.
Artificial deadlines to get things done causes a lot of domestic drama.
Even family gatherings cause stress as people who normally don't see each other have to deal with each other.

Just watched the press conference, and Ballard mentioned that they'll be pushing to change the long gun permitting procedure to be like pistols where you'll need to get a permit for every long gun purchased. Also, they'll be pushing to make owning a "ghost gun" illegal. Isn't owning an unregistered gun already illegal, and how are they thinking any of this would've prevented anything that's been happening/happened..... ? ???

it's not about having any effect on crime but having more control over the law abiding population.
Just like the food safety placards, plastic ban laws and the stupid fees for micro mobility vendors such as Lime but none for Biki.

There were plans to push that for long guns for a while now. Just was happening in smaller groups at leg with folks going around asking if they would support. Looks like that made it to HPD.

Yup. Def I’ve seen is a gun manufactured by individual with no serial number/marking. So yup? Already illegal. But we already know what they will be going after. Will be interesting to see how they challenge the legal definitions. Then again, like NY, seems like a “throw crap on the wall and see what stick” approach is what’s going on.

Maybe Cops should use Spiderman webbing and Batman utility belts, so the bad guys can be subdued without firearms?
Lethal force was used after they tried to tase him TWICE. The Tasers were ineffective.
Some mistakes don't come with do-overs.
I don't see any difference between threatening a Cop and taking an overdose of your favorite illegal narcotic, or getting into your car after a few too many. A choice was made. The risks were accepted. The outcome was avoidable.

The tech is being tested. Not sure how it would work on a person moving or arms moving. Test vid I've seen shows person standing still with arms to their side.
