Title: Battle Belts
Post by: kala201 on March 21, 2020, 07:36:21 PM
Not to get all tactical and out there, but what battle belt/ carry belt do you guys run?  How do you have them set up?  I’ve finally decided to get a little more serious and start taking some classes, but like the HDF days they all require a holster and mag carriers.  Anyone run a chest rig?

Thanks Mac I found it.  Gave up and just typed in belt.  It’s “range belt” started in 2018 if anyone else is interested.  Not a lot of posts, but there are pictures.

I take the HDF skill builders and do not have a battle belt.  I run a plate carrier that has mag poches on them.  I have the G-code rifle mag pouches that can also hold pistol mags securely. I can fit 2 pistol mags in 1 rifle mag pouch.

But on my riggers belt that I wear, I do have 1; 2 magazine capacity blade tech pistol mag holder and my pistol holster and TQ holder.  But I wouldn't consider this a battle belt. I'm too pake to buy a batttle belt.

I know others who have a 2 mag holder and just put the other mags in their pockets.

Here's a thread range belts.  This is a subject that I've had quite a bit lately with friends that I train with as well as those newer to getting into training.  I've personally gone down the road of "try this, then try that. . .", like many of us.  I'm very much a try and see for myself.  I take feedback from trusted individuals and verify for myself.  A big part of verifying is going through training and firearms classes with that gear setup and see how it works for you.  Gear can be expensive and even more so the "try this, then try that. . . " approach that I did.  Hopefully this thread will help avoid some of that.

Many of us also have a box of gear that we no longer use.  Still good equipment, but just not what we prefer.  So good opportunity to see what folks are interested in and maybe there are some that can offer up gear to try.

Thanks guys.  The 2 belts I’m considering right now are the ATS Tactical Skirmish Belt that Platinum uses and the Assault Belt System by AWS.  Supposedly AWS is the company that manufactures the Ronin Tactical belts.  I also considered the Blue Alpha Gear belt because it got so much positive reviews on YouTube and the internet.  I saw that Changemyoil uses a plate carrier and originally I had thought about just having a gun belt and chest rig, but changed my mind.  Since I work construction I’m used to carrying my tool pouches on my waist and figured a good belt setup would be more comfortable and easier for me to navigate.  Once I get my rig set up I’ll post pics.

Ahh, never heard of Blue Alpha Gear.  It's great that there are lots of excellent choices, but also "bad" in that I'm often tempted to give a new setup a try.  And I already have a bunch.   ;D

Seems like you're looking at the inner/outer belt with velcro setups.  I personally have a setup like that from US Grunt Gear.  I've heard good things about Ronin belts and a couple of buddies have them (or did).

Looking forward to seeing what you end up going with and how it works for you.

In the end, each has it's pro's and cons.  Find what you find the most rewarding since it's your money.  Like grabbing a mag from a chest rig while prone takes a little more effort than from a belt.  Not impossible, but just slightly more effort. At the same time, if having to shoot from on your back and leaning to 1 side, you may be lying on the mags, so a chest rig is easier.

You were looking at the same ones I was.  If I were to get a system, it would be AWS or Ronin

Blue alpha gear. Minimalist but can use molle or regular belt loop gear. Very stiff.

Vtac raze belt.

Once you have decided on what belt you are gonna go with, next you're gonna need holsters to hold all your gear. Thats where I can help you. If you need AR mag holsters, C.A.T. holsters, Singel or Double mag holster, and of course gun holsters, I can help you with that.
Pictures of some of my work. If you have any questions please feel free to DM me. thank you.

GCode contact series with scorpion softshell a that mount directly and a Safariland ALS holsterops with midride UBL mount is all the basics you need. Can add a small med pouch, multitool/knife or Foldable dump pouch (loppy, maxpedition)

Good question as I just set this up recently myself (past year) and much prefer a pistol belt than just holster when wearing my vest.

I’ll post a pic of my basic set up. Going to be adding either TQ or small IFAK to belt. Dump pouch is clip on.

Cobra buckle belt inside a padded belt. The original padded belt has plastic connectors which I took off and ran the Cobra through. Cut opening on padded belt for holster.
Used with a vest. Pistol mags and holster on pistol belt. Rifle mags on vest.

Ok so I finally made a decision and made my purchase.  I ended up going with a Condor LCS Cobra Gun Belt.  I went with the Condor belt for 2 reasons.

The main reason I went with Condor belt was because of price.  The belt was $75 from Amazon and then I spent $10 on eBay for a Rothco inner belt.  The second reason I went with the Condor belt was because of its flexibility.  The Condor belt is a padded PALS/Molle belt which is one of the criteria I had set for myself.  The flexibility comes in the fact that the belt has a removable stiffener so that it can be used as a stand alone belt or with the stiffener removed it can be used as a double belt system, hence the purchase of the Rothco inner belt.

I know cheap doesn’t always mean good.  I really do get that, but this will allow me to experiment and see what I like and what I don’t like.  Then after I have more experience and understanding I can make an educated purchase if and when this one falls apart or I can keep it as a back up and upgrade to a Ronin, ATS Tactics, or Blue Alpha Gear.

Once I get my pouches and holster I’ll post a pic.

I finally got my rig put together.

Condor padded gun belt with PALs webbing
Rothco inner belt
Alien Gear Shapeshifter holster
Esstac KWYI mag pouches
Blue Force Gear dump pouch
Leatherman MUT
Amazon tear away IFAK pouch

I'm just waiting on my flashlight pouch and I'll probably add 1 more rifle mag pouch
