Title: Catalytic Converter Thefts
Post by: Flapp_Jackson on April 13, 2020, 01:09:08 AM
Been getting quite a few reports of thefts & attempted thefts in the Mililani area. Many have spotted a Gold Nissan Altima or Maxima and a dark color Toyota Tacoma in the vicinity of the crimes.  Yeah, that really narrows the suspect list down.

They target specific vehicles: a Honda CRV was "cased" and not burglarized (wrong year?), and a Honda Element had the converter cut in two places before a neighbor yelled and scared them off.  That was this past week.

There have been earlier CC thefts reported, too.  If these were posted on the Ring app, then I can only guess at how many more haven't been.

In this economic crisis, I'd expect these incidents to increase.

Thought I'd pass it on.  Stay alert, especially in the early morning hours when these things seem to be happening.

They'll probably take your curb feelers and spinners, just to piss you off!   O0

Prius owners have the most to worry about.  Those are the favorite because it contains more of the valuable metals than others.  My 2001 Dodge diesel doesn't have one.

Another Honda Element CC was targeted 2 nights ago near the Safeway in Mililani.  Unlike the first where the thieves took off when a neighbor yelled at them, this one was actually stolen.

Things will get worse before they get better.
