Title: Badger Ordinance bolt knob
Post by: Frog on June 15, 2020, 03:38:48 AM
Anyone know of a local gunsmith that can install a badger ordinance bolt knob on my Remington 700 bolt?  Or should I just send it to badger ordinance to get it done?  :shaka:

You could contact Pacific Custom Rifles, I am sure he could do it.

Is it really something that hard to do though? Check youtube, it might be easy?

I think she could polish your knob ...   :geekdanc:

Looks like a simple machining process if you have the right equipment.

I assume you have the bolt already, so the cost would be $68 + shipping to them.  They pay return shipping and will replace the part if they muck it up. I don't know if you'll find many local gunsmiths willing to do the job for significantly less.  If it were my rifle, I'd ship the parts and have Badger do the installation.  Take "before" pictures of everything, just to be safe.

One thing to remember is that on a remington 700 bolt, the handle is cast i believe. There are many reports of voids or cavities found within the handle itself, which is why handles have also broken off in the past. If i was to do it, i would take a look at Mark at SAC. Dealth with him before and his team is awesome. Id look up their process to threading a rem700 bolt handle. They basically reinforce it so that a potentially void doesnt affect integrity.
