Title: Transporting/shipping ammo Inter-island
Post by: Shooooots on July 29, 2020, 03:55:07 PM
Anyone have any insight or words of wisdom when going inter-island with ammo?  I know Hawaiian only allows 11lbs checked in.

keep ammo in their original box or in a sealed container and store in your checked in baggage
go to concierge desk and tell them what you have, then fill out paperwork.  TSA may or may not inspect it.  just follow directions of what concierge desk tells you

I just flew round trip to Hilo this weekend. Kept my ammo in original box in the same case as my pistols. Going out of HNL had no issues. Coming back out of Hilo, they pulled me off the plane last minute saying that TSA needs to get into my case. Only thing different was less ammo, so not sure what the issue was. They couldn’t even tell me. If TSA does have to open it, make sure you’re present and hold onto your key.

Thanks!  Only ammo since the firearm is still at home.  Just replenishing.
