do "pop up" testing?
I blame the rabies prevention policies for this COVID overreach.
It's much easier to control animals being transported into the islands than it is people. It seems the gov't thinks we can prevent or quarantine all COVID-infected people just like animals that may have been exposed to rabies.
Basic ignorance. A 0% infection rate is not a rational goal. We need a quick and cheap test AND a proven vaccine for immunization and treatment to meet that goal. Until those exist, nothing we do will get us to 0%.
People are not going to live in a bubble or on complete lockdown forever.

**** A 0% infection rate is not even an irrational goal... it's utter nonsense and an impossibility (unless, for political purposes, it will suit "them" to count zero infections just like they count all the deaths WITH the virus as CAUSED by the virus). Even Fake Fauci says that a vaccine efficacy rate of 50-70% is likely the best that will realistically happen. Then polling reveals that 34% of Americans will not get vaccinated even if the vaccine is free. Do the math. Only one solution, like Sweden, et al., population (aka "herd") immunity... everything else is just an inevitable postponement... with the attendant horrible financial, health (suicide, depression, drug addiction overdoses, etc.), societal costs (no adequate schooling, etc.) adding up daily.
People are not going to live in a bubble or on complete lockdown forever.
**** What are their alternative options? Four people (two 69 and 70 years of age) arrested yesterday on Big Island for breaking "quarantine"... recognized and ratted out by people who recognized them as quarantine subjects. (Though one was arrested at the airport when he refused to fill out and sign the "mandatory quarantine agreement".)

I am convinced that the apparently most enthusiastic about the Chinese virus lockdowns are democrat.
This may be an opportunity for an in-your-face message to patriots.
IOW, "see how easily we can lock your life down?"
"just wait until we decide you cannot be armed"
"you will go along just as easily"

In the summer, the Interisland bullshit self-quarantine went away. Will it go away anytime soon? Or have the junk science "testing" places paid so much in bribes to the state to get on their "approved list" it's going to take a long time until they make their money back?

And all the karens on hawaii quarantine kapu breakers support this. Guess they got enough $ to live.

It almost seems like some sort of competition for "most woke" mayor. They probably realize soon they will have a huge problem to deal with after destroying their tax base and are trying to hold out for as long as possible. Most likely they are just looking for more federal money though.

Read somewhere (here?) that every time some mayor declares a lockdown, the fed money gates open for relief.
Dunno how that works, if it does.

I could be wrong but isn't pop up testing supposed to give us more accurate numbers? They mass test groups and get people who aren't showing symptoms coming in for tests or who wouldn't pay for the tests.

Because then the government loses control.
