What are you currently loading? Let’s see your fun stay at home projects. Currently loading 9x19 parabellum! Resurrecting this old hobby, luckily stocked up with powders, bullets, brass and primers from 2017!

The last two days I have been loading 45LC with 255gr LSWC PC boolits using Titegroup, Unique and Trail Boss powders. I am waiting until the Gun Show this Saturday to pick up some 300gr jacketed bullets so I can load up some .454 Casull. Saturday I loaded 9mm with 115gr LRN PC boolits and I tested them on Monday. And last Thursday and Friday I loaded up a mess of 45 Auto Rim with the same boolits as the 45LC.

Nice! Those are some awesome cartridges to load. Powder goes fast, lol. I’m actually all most out of unique and titegroup.. but been bored so mostly loading 45 ACP, 223 and 9 since I have a ton of cfe pistol and cfe 223. Got a bunch of lil gun for the 300, imr 4227 and Varget. I think I actually enjoy the process more than the outcome, lol. Never hurts to have a stock pile.

I've had more time in the past several months to reload more than I usually do.
here's just a little of what I've been reloading

Nice looking loads. You single charge your cases? That looks painful, haha. I never really setup for match or moa. Bought a chrono back in the day but could never get around to use or set it up. I been trying to find those Sierra 168s I actually have a bunch of Hornady 150gn interlocks I been meaning to load. The 44 mags 240 gn pills?

yup, single stage.  it's slow but I don't have much room for reloading at my house so I have to live with it, I've gotten used to it
I don't have a chrono either.  only the palm chrono.   ;)
44 mag FTX is 225 grains.  kind of an odd weight and the projectile is long, so OAL is a bit longer.  I think the bullet is made for lever action mostly, but it fits in the cylinder so it works.  but I wont be loading any more of that bullet.  i'll stick with the XTP in the future, I also have some sierra jhc and lead bullets I can use

I just finished up 700 rds of 223, got tired of loading rifle so switched to pistol. It’s so much easier loading pistol, no neck to look down each charge and I love how a 3/4 fill in the hopper can go along way at 5.3 gn’s lol. I did about 400 rds of 300 blk before the 223s. Actually just wanted to get rid of my 223bulkbullets stash that was collecting dust.

Still loading  from the 70lb  of 116.5gr  9mm polymers  (29,700) I got awhile ago.
Did a couple K last week, only a couple K  polymers left, then I'll move on to FMJ's
Using 4.2 gr TiteGroup, and Federal 100 primers but almost out of those so already switched to CCI 500's.
I'll keep the last Federal 100 primers for some HP 9mm  and HP.38  :geekdanc:

Slid in a couple hundred 168 gr SMK HPBT .308's depleting my old stock of "heads".
Began loading from new batch of 500 SMK HPBT .308's which shot  the same at 100 and 200, did not get chance to check 300, 400, and 450 yds.
Will do later this week.
Using 42 gr IMR 4064 and Federal Premium GM210M primers.
All brass full sized, cut to length and de-burred weeks ago.

Like Stang, I single load the .308's
Size and de-prime, tumble, dry, check size (stash already de-burred) then prime a bunch, hand measure the powder and then to press to seat.
Pretty consistent groups, 100 yds is -half dollar usually on or touching.  ;D

When I run out of 9mm and .308 heads, I'll give 5.56 a whack.
Got several K heads and plenty of powder and Federal 205 primers

Hey, that’s MY load! Copycat!!!

I rescued an old Spanish Mauser Carbine from 1916. I have not shot it yet. It was rechambered in 7.62 NATO. This is my first 7.62x51 I have ever owned and loaded for. I have not had the time to start loading for it yet but I have everything I need. I’m going to load both 168gr HPBT and 166gr LRN with gas check. I’ll probably reduce the lead boolit load. I couldn’t find new brass so I went to my usual once fired bass source and I bought all 100 pieces they had. And I found another 400 from another source. New and used brass for this round has been hard to find. I have IMR 4064, IMR 4895, Varget and H4895. I will probably load with 4064 to start with and reduce the loads with one of the 4895’s. Oh, and of course I’ll make a few rounds with Trail Boss just for a laugh.

Like Stang, I single load the .308's
Size and de-prime, tumble, dry, check size (stash already de-burred) then prime a bunch, hand measure the powder and then to press to seat.

This Mauser is probably accurate to moment of gong at whatever range I shoot it at.

I’ve been playing around with coated boolits in 9mm, 45AR and 357/38. So far not bad in the 9mm and excellent in the 357/38 and 45. I probably have enough powder/primers to last me at least 1.5-2 years I think. I have a few thousand 9mm and 357/38 but I only have about 1k 45. I have a shit ton of 223, 308, 310, 314 and 7mm. I still need to obtain more heads. But I just started casting my own today. I’m getting used making sure I maintain temperature. I intend to cast for everything I shoot except all 223 and some 308. So I guess powder coating is in my future next.

doing some cleaning at home and in the corner in a paper bag which I thought was Dremel stuff which I hardly ever use also had  a brick of 44mag primers and a few hundred 44mag brass that I forgot about for at least a few years   :geekdanc:
I must have forgot to put away in my reloading storage box
I should clean up more often

Today was Schmidt-Rubin reloading day. I loaded for my K31 7.5x55mm using H4895 and my 1889 7.5x54.5mm using IMR4198. I started by making a dummy round for the K31 and all was good. So I primed and charged cases and seated boolits and all was good. Then I started loading for my 1889. I primed my cases and then charged them all. I seated the first boolit and realized I had not made a dummy round to make sure the concept was still correct. So I made up a dummy round and tried to chamber it and WHOOPS! It wouldn’t go. So I made up 4 more and 2 out of 5 chambered fine. But 3 would not. And they would not by near an inch. Checked OAL and they were fine. The best I can figured is that I only neck size and I keep the K31 cases separate from the 1889 cases. But when I moved I must have mixed some up as the K31 cases form much larger than the 1889 cases due to chamber differences. So I fucked up. Emptied out 100 cases and full length sized them (plus an additional 25) removing the primer as I went along. I decided to use my ultrasonic cleaner to remove the sizing lube. They are currently drying.

If I had made the dummy round BEFORE I primed and charged the cases I may still not have found the issue as only 35 out of 125 total cases were the wrong ones. I got lucky on this one. Tomorrow is 1889 Schmidt-Rubin loading day and then I will continue my foray into casting my own boolits.

My rule has always been, it's okay to talk to yourself, even to answer yourself when you ask a question.  it's when you start arguing with yourself that you need to see a doctor.

Seems the C-19 quarantine has claimed another victim.  :(
Trying to finish up 9mm polymers when the handle on my 550 B went so forward it hit the collection bin ramp.
Further inspection showed ALOT of slop in the link arms to frame, link arms to crank, and crank to main shaft.  :wtf:
Did notice the shell plate platform rotating ever so slightly on the down stroke before the major malfunction.  ???

   Contacted Dillon .
Will let you know how their "No B.S. Warranty" is.
They were pretty good about it last month when they sent me a new slotted bell crank when the "button" that holds the spring popped off.
So spent the day checking and cutting more .308 brass.
Boring

My wife and I drove down to Phoenix today to take her niece and BF out for lunch. She got a new job and we wanted to celebrate with her. Before we left this morning I loaded up 150 - 7.62x54R rounds for my Mosin Nagant. I loaded them with a 200gr gas checked lubed boolit sized to .313 over IMR 4198 Powder. Tomorrow I’m going shooting at the pistol range. Gotta figure out what I want to shoot. Decisions decisions...

No, I am still just making 357/38 boolits. Practicing with those. I had choke rifle boolits right before I moved. Gonna use them up before I start casting for those. I’m still trying to make room for doing the powder coating. I’m getting there.

I didn’t go shooting today. Though if I had I only had to go outside and kill the fucking pigeons that have nested underneath my solar panels. I had to stay home today to have the pest control people come and give me estimates. And I have to stay home tomorrow because my Carcano is now going to be delivered tomorrow instead of Wednesday. But I think I can go in the morning on Wednesday because the pest control guys are coming on Wednesday afternoon. I’m thinking I should shoot my S&W Model 10 on Wednesday.

my first 223 reloads.  target is 50 yards
shot with my bolt action 223.  will try in my AR next
top target is with factory Federal 55 grain FMJ.  (AR 223 ammo)
bottom 3 targets are with my handloads.  Hornady factory seconds, 55 grain, FMJBT.  each target is different powder charge.  not bad for my 1st reloads of 223   :D

They’re normal size. They really squeeze down to get underneath. They have to because the hawks dive bomb them all the time. The hawks got one on the 4th of July and killed and gutted it on my front porch! 😂 I’m still finding feathers all over my front yard. And occasionally one of their eggs rolls off the roof and I find it on the ground.

Funny thing about all of this is every pest control company I called I said I have birds nesting under my solar panels. Everyone said “I’ll bet they are pigeons”. Apparently it is a thing that occurs often as they all stated they have been getting more and more calls for this particular issue.

Very nice!  Confirmation that your hand loads are markedly better than Fed 55.  While not match ammo, 193 typically does well out of most of my guns.  That load in the center/bottom looks great!

My dad hated the Bulbuls that would nest in the orange tree that was outside his bedroom.  He bought a pretty nice air pistol and scope just for them.   ;D

I've seen the pigeon ticklers mentioned below.  They them all over where the birds like to roost, esp high up in steel hangars.  Everytime I see them, I think to myself, "who the hell gets to go up there and get those stinking flying rats down".  It's funny too, because I've only seen pigeons skewered in them.  Guess other birds are smarter and stay away.  Haha

Pigeons are the reason the term “Bird Brain” came about.   The pest control guy had metal mesh, about quarter inch openings and about 6” wide in about 10’ long rolls. He used self tapping screws to attach it like a skirt. Before he attached the skirt he used a garden hose and a brush on a long stick to flush all the pigeon droppings, nest, eggs, etc. down my rain gutters. Then he flushed the rain gutters out of all that crap. He sprayed disinfectant around as well. He also used the mesh to cover a couple of areas where the roof made perfect pigeon nesting areas. He (NAZ Pest Control) charged me $200 for the whole job. He estimated 87 linear feet and 2 hours to do the job.

His competition (Friendly Pest Control) came out on Tuesday morning (8:00am) and was 30 mins late, didn’t call to let me know he would be late, and didn’t get me the estimate until late Wednesday afternoon. Within 5 minutes of Friendly leaving my house, his office texted me and complained that my Hawaii phone number was coming up an international number and they couldn’t call me from their business phone. Then they went on to ask me to contact them so they could set up a date and time for their guy to come out for an estimate. Since their guy had just left I ignored their text. Then on Wednesday late morning I got an e-mail from them letting me know that they scheduled their guy to come out on Thursday to give me an estimate. I finally called them and asked them why I had not gotten my estimate yet. And they said because their guy had not come out yet. And I told them their guy was out on Tuesday morning and was late and I still don’t have an estimate. Then I asked her why they were so confused? So she says, let me straighten this out and I’ll call you back. I told her I don’t want a call, I want the estimate they promised me. Then late Wednesday afternoon I finally got an email from the owner apologizing for the confusion and he attached the estimate. The estimate was for 185 linear feet, didn’t state how many hours it would take and came out to $1,467.00. What they don’t know is that when they finally sent the estimate NAZ Pest Control was already on my roof doing the work.

By 6:00pm NAZ had sent me his invoice and I paid it with my credit card.

Funny story. Back in the 80’s I worked all over Los Angeles. In downtown LA near the 10 and 110 intersection is a small lot with both McDonalds and Burger King side by side. They shared the parking lot. The route into and out of the lot was in between the buildings. And of course they had outside tables. It was not uncommon for the pigeons to come up to the tables looking for food. Only something was weird about these pigeons. They were totally FAT AND GREASY LOOKING!!! When the cars drove in and out they didn’t fly to get out of the way. They ran. Maybe because they couldn’t fly? I don’t know. But I have never seen pigeons like this before. It goes to show you what a continuous diet of French fries will do to you.

It's a wonder how the "Friendly Pest Control" types stay in business.  Probably "catering" to folks that don't know any better.

It’s funny you said that cuz I felt like I was getting a deal from Ohana. The day he came and gave me the estimate we sat down in my garage and talk story for an hour before he left. The day he came and did the work we talked story again for another hour. He did a good job and I was happy to pay him $200 for all the work he did. And I made a new friend.

Boring

Dillon should have received my loader yesterday.
Sitting at my computer and looking over at a loading bench full of all the components needed to reload for everything I own and all the time to do it is "upsetting"  :'(

I’m sure Dillon will honor their warranty with no problems. Are the parts wearing out or breaking? Do you have a single stage you can work with while you are waiting? Let us know how long it takes them to get it back to you?

I’m starting to cast my own boolits now. Next week I try my hand at powder coating them. When I get tired of brass prep, I can reload, and if I get tired of that I do some casting and now I can do some powder coating.

Seems to me the link arm pivot points are worn, thus the slop.
No single stage (2=1, 1=none )

My friend ordered a 650 weeks ago, then changed to 550 when he heard 650 would take 3+ weeks and he could get the 550 in 2 weeks.
2 weeks later they tell him 3-4 weeks to delivery on 550.
Also told him they take care of existing Dillon customers before new customers. ;D
Of course I gave him $#!T about how they were going to dismantle his 550 to repair mine.

p.s. Just received my UFO light replacement.
For some foolish reason, I removed it and broke the light strip.
Lucky for me a replacement light (expansion kit) only cost me half ($18.84) of a new setup.
Now I just need a press to install it on.

Takes a lot of use to wear out a press. I’m very impressed! You’ll get your press back soon enough. I couldn’t reload without a single stage. I use it for so many different duties. Besides using it to reload all my rifle cartridges, I also use it for depriming without resizing both pistol and rifle cases, swaging primer pockets, swaging boolits, bullet removal when I make mistakes, etc.

I am thinking of upgrading my Lee Turret Press to a better turret press. I can’t bring myself to spend the money on a progressive when I have more time now that I’m retired to reload. I can easily keep up with my shooting. So it doesn’t seem like a necessary tool. And I am growing unhappy with the sloppiness with the Lee turret.

Quote
The Terms Red Pill and Blue Pill refer to a choice between revealing an unpleasant truth,
represented by the red pill, or to remain in blissful ignorance, represented by the blue pill.

These terms are in reference to the 1999 film The Matrix.

Is there any doubt the red pill was picked for the truth (Republicans = Red), and the blue picked for blissful ignorance (Democrats = Blue) for a reason??

Even in fiction, the truth lives on.   :geekdanc:

I loaded up 150 rounds of 38 Special using 158gr LSWC and Trail Boss. I had some errands I had to run today as well. I need to buy some ammo boxes for a new to me cartridge I have never loaded for. And that is 7.62x51 NATO For my Spanish Mauser which I have not shot yet.

Tomorrow morning I’m going to try powder coating again. This time I’m going to follow the video instructions a little closer in hopes of getting better results.

What he really needs to learn quickly is positive reinforcements.
Like a pat on the head or a doggy treat or a snickers bar when he makes a successful bullet.

Sent my Dillon to them on the 9th and got her back yesterday with new  link arms, crank and  main shaft.  ;D

I took the  Primer Housing, Primer Shield, primer slide assembly, all of their accoutrements, Roller Bracket Assembly,
Cartridge Spring Retaining Screw and the Operating Rod off for shipping purposes and they sent me ALL of those too  :D

Will reassemble this week end after I pick up my daughter and 6 month old granddaughter for their 6 week visit from Japan.
Have not see daughter for a couple years and this will be the first time to see GD.
