I find the ammo manufacturing pickup by vista outdoors or sig interesting. I hope sig because they been making ammo for a while, and have good reviews. I think vista doesn't have an ammo man. In they portfolio, they own Smith and Wesson I think. Ruger picking up marlin brand and the company that owns p.s.a picked up bushmaster. Here's hank strange breaking it down.

I remember the rebates during the last 2 holiday seasons were through them.

Ruger gets Marlin
I always wanted a levergun in 44magnum, now I can get it in Ruger too! :geekdanc:
I wish Ruger would buy Colt too, then they can mass produce the Python and bring the price down to Ruger price, not Colt price

I've been trying to get a Marlin 1894SBL lever gun in .44 magnum for the longest time. Still not successful. Now that Ruger will continue the Marlin line there is hope but I think it will take time.
Oh well, there are other guns that tickle my fancy. Also looking for a bolt gun in .223/5.56 ;D

Wee know who got what now.
Hopefully soon we can get some good quality marlins.

I’ve wanted a lever .357/.38 for a long time. Now that I have a .44 mag revolver, I could go for a .44 lever. A buddy has a Marlin .44 Mag lever and it’s pretty soft shooting, even with the full .44 mag ammo.

I want 357. I hope Ruger made ones are better quality and come in under the pre remington prices. And do something crazy and release a pump carbine. I was thinking of taking a swing at a beretta one on g.b but it climbed to 1g and thought better of it.

Yeah, I want the Marlin 1894 SBL because it will complement my SW29. My 29 is nickel plated while the SBL is stainless. Thats ok. They both will be shiny, lol!!
I like the SBL because of the short barrel and the side loading port. I was thinking of Henry (who make great lever guns) but they don't have side loading, but recently they introduced a bunch but not in .44 magnum. Yet??.....maybe in the future?

For all you lever gun aficionados, are Henry's any good? I was thinking about getting a 22LR lever action.

Yes, Henry's good, that's one rifle you can feed any 22LR ammo.

Started eyeing henry's when they started manfucaturing with the side gate, want an octogon barrel.

I'd take sig. Vista controls way too much of the market as it is.

Henry’s are very nice. Especially the 22LR. Very smooth actions. Just make sure you handle it before you buy. If it is an octagon barrel and/or the brass receiver (Yellow Boy) it may be heavier than you wish it to be. I suggest getting the round barrel model with the steel receiver if you have a choice unless you prefer the octagon barrel and/or the brass receiver. The beauty of the levergun is how light and well balanced it is. Making it quick to shoulder and put on target. A heavier gun may not be optimal. Just try before you buy.

I like Ruger buying Marlin. Even tho they said in their statement they don’t intend to change the Marlin lineup I expect they will cease making the Model 60/795 which competes directly with the 10/22. Unless sales are still strong. In which case they may continue with these models.
What I like the most about Ruger taking over Marlin is they will improve the quality of the leverguns. Its not that Marlins are bad. It’s just that a good smooth levergun is a thing of beauty. They require more hand fitting than most guns. I am sure Ruger will be able to keep or improve the fit and finish of the Marlin design.

Highly recommend Henry. They are beautiful quality made firearms. I don’t have a lever but I do have a break action shotgun in 12ga.
I am eyeing the long ranger in 308.

Will someone pleas give us the Magpul version of the Masada we were supposed to have in ‘08? Thank you!

Marlin model 60 is a tube magazine.
Ruger 10-22 is a removable magazine.
I own both rifles.
I'd expect the Marlin model 7XX's to be
done away with.
But that is just an opinion.

I own both a Model 60 and 10/22 rifles as well. The Model 60 outsold the 10/22 for many many years.
