was checking on how much shipping would be and got this message:
We're sorry, but City or State law prohibits us from sending item(s) in your cart to the address you have specified.
UPS shipping restrictions prevent the shipment of ammunition to Alaska, Hawaii and Catalina Island, Ca.
it's not ammo damn it

Hawaii is not apart of the US, so I've heard from various customer services. I ask them back so what's the 50th stateam then.. ..this usually prompts a awkward silence

I also like to discuss the "lower 48" since Hawaii is the southernmost state. Alaska and Minnesota are the northernmost so they should be excluded when stating "lower 48." Continental 48 is also another fun discussion with there being 49 states on the continent.
If Midway won't ship here then f*** 'em and take your business elsewhere. What you looking for? Maybe one of the local stores can order it for you.

Haha! That reminds me of the story about the guy from New Mexico who called the domestic phone line of the agency handling the ticket sales for the Olympics in Barcelona Spain and was promptly told by the operator that he had to call back on the international line. When the caller insisted that he was calling on the right line because he was in New Mexico , the operator said, "I don't care if you are calling from New Mexico or Old Mexico, you have to call back on the international line!"

That's surprising. I always use the online checkout and pick usps and never had a problem. I could have sworn my aimpoint was from midway?
-
Interesting. What model Aimpoint were you looking to order? Lots of online vendors that will ship to Hawaii. I've ordered my T-1 and M4s through Larue Tactical, mostly for the combo with their mounts though.
-
That's funny, kinda, they ship stuff to Guam...Last time I had a Midway problem, talked to a supervisor of customer service and problem solved...
-
I already have my aimpoint pro shipped to me a few days ago. I was looking for a cheap red dot for my 15-22. Midway had sent me some discount codes so I was just checking out what kind of deals I could get.
I was thinking of getting Of getting a primary arms aimpoint clone anyway
-
I suggest you call them and rectify this as there is no reason why they can't ship USPS. Maybe just a programming glitch?
I just ordered a red dot from Natchez and they are sending it USPS. Check them out, they have excellent prices on optics at the moment.

Some sights and intraweb sites require that you sign off a form that says you will not export the optics/sights..............could be that.
-
Weird seeing that most entry level optics are made overseas such as China
-
Maybe it thinks its reddot powder LOL
-
I ordered red dots from midway in the past with no problems. Your order probably included ammo, which is another story.
-
There are shipping restrictions on the lithium cr123 batteries that come with the unit. The default message is no ammo shipment. I have talked to Midway in the past about this. Obviously they have not changed it.

Wow that's weird. I ordered an insight x2l from midwayusa and it came with a cr2 battery. I didn't have any problems with shipping though. Although when i order from midwayusa, i ALWAYS use usps as the shipping method.

The lithium battery restriction with the postal service just went into effect about 30 days ago. I'm not sure what the policies are for FedEx, UPS, etc.

Just another piece of bureaucratic red tape to make life in Hawaii that much more taxing. :'(

(U//FOUO) The FBI assesses with high confidence, based on multiple incident reports from a collaborative source with direct access to the information, that counterfeit and substandard lithium batteries pose a serious health and safety risk to consumers, specifically law enforcement officers, emergency medical services providers, and military personnel who use these batteries extensively. The FBI has received numerous reports of such batteries, which are not manufactured with the safety mechanisms of legitimate US branded-batteries, spontaneously combusting while being used, transported, or stored, resulting in serious injuries to consumers and damage to tactical equipment and property.
(U) Law Enforcement, Military, and Emergency Responders at Risk From Counterfeit or Substandard Lithium Batteries in Tactical Equipment
(U//FOUO) Lithium batteries, primarily CR123A cell batteries, are used by the public in electronic devices; however, they are more frequently used by law enforcement officers, emergency medical services providers, and military personnel in tactical equipment such as flashlights, weapon lights, headlamps, and helmet lights and cameras. Counterfeit and substandard lithium batteries have caused numerous incidents involving serious injury to law enforcement personnel, as well as damage to equipment and property.

Sounds similar to my Amazon experience. I wanted to purchase a 32GB thumbdrive, but they wouldn't ship to Hawaii. However they will ship the 16GB version. I called up amazon and asked why they can't ship the 32GB, and they said they are not allowed to, then asked why they can ship the 16GB, then silence.

Amazon was afraid that they may violate a Hawaii State Law by sending you a high capacity thumbdrive. You may insert it into your assault computer and go on a rampage of downloading porn resulting in the death of millions of sperm cells.

I used lithium polymer batts and when exposed to air they combust violently. Haven't tried cracking open a Lithium ion batt. thogh

Just curious, we talking about red dot as in optics, or red dot as in gun powder?

I've had no problems ordering red dot optics from MidwayUSA, that's including batteries, that's why I'm curious, red dot optics, or red dot gun powder.

It has been stated in this thread that this change in shipping behavior has only started recently. It's also been explained that the reason why they didn't ship it is because the package contains lithium batteries. So unless red dot gun powder comes with lithium batteries, i don't think it's the gun powder.

Roger that. Thanks for the clarification.

ScReW midway. Brownell's better :shaka: :shaka:

I HATE looking for stuff on Brownells. You can't narrow the categories down to something specific. For example, I tried searching for an AR15 magazine. The most I can do is narrow it down to is AR15, magazines, then in stock. The I'll have to search through 81 items to find what i'm looking for.
At least let me pick what caliber @#$%^
-
Yup, doesn't make much sense. You can't order a TLR-1 either. Tried a while back and got the same message.
