I’m currently using a Giraud tri way for 223 but looking for
a “universal” trimmer - like the motorized Lyman xpress that has 10 bushings to trim a lot of different caliber - for calibers where I’m doing less quantity.
I was also looking at the Wilson trimmer with micrometer but I’m not a precision shooter and it’s hand cranked
What are you using?
Thank you in advance

Giraud
But for small batches, a Lee.
It's adequate for my needs

Wassup?!?
Heard that Lyman trimmer express is pretty good. I use a CTS trimmer for 223 but most of my trimming is small batches so I use Lee and a drill......

Cam Lock™ Trimmer
Item #050140
Can be motorized if desired

I use the Lyman Express for 223/556 and 300 BLK. It’s nice for doing larger batches. I do notice less consistency though unless I pay close attention and use the same technique each time. It has a spring loaded collar that can be hard to apply even pressure.
Overall I like it and easier than my WFT setup.

Giraud for 308 and 223. There are few options that trim, deburr and chamfer at once.

Thanks All!
I’ll probably get another Giraud Tri Way since I’ll probably do 7mm-08 and 308 next. (One Tri way can do 7mm-08, 308 and 243)
That Lyman express is tempting but my attention sometimes wanders and I may end up quickly screwing up a bunch of cases

I use the Dillon powered trimmer. Good for doing large batches, cuts super clean (no need deburr), and has a vacuum attachment to suck out the trimmed brass.

Using the Frankford Arsenal universal case prep trimmer...

My friend recommended a wft. Anyone else using one and is it consistent “enough”.
Some reviews said a set screw loosens and it affects the trimming

I have one and it works good but I ended up going to the Lyman because I didn't want to buy a WFT for each caliber I am loading. If only doing a few calibers, it works well and is decently consistent but I wouldn't really use it if I were trying to do precision loads. Just enough variance to matter to the guys who are competing. For me though, it was good enough. Just wanted to expand the number of calibers I am doing (went from 223/556 and 300 blk, to adding in 9mm, .357/.38 special and planning to add 6.5 Grendal, 6 ARC and 6.5 Creedmoor).
I have heard guys complain about the set screw but a little loctite supposedly fixes it. I never had issues on mine. Use the HF chop saw with jig to cut down 223/556 brass.

Thanks Taco.
My friend is giving me his giraud tri way that he doesn’t use. He went to a Wilson.

Sweet! Never got to try one but have only heard great things about them. That’s a great friend!

I’ve curious about the Lee deluxe power trimmer for quite some time and decided what the heck. Already have a cheap Lee reloader press that I bought some 15 years ago, still NIB. ordered the trimmer and a 7.62x39 trim die and they were delivered today. Set everything up, sized some brass on my summit press and started to trim. Was pretty impressed with the consistency it demonstrated and how fast it is. Learning curve was minimal as well. I’m not a match shooter and my loads are minute of meat so no worries there. For $49 delivered it’s a pretty good deal.

Wilson-Sinclair for all rifle cartridges, a case holder for each.

I’m getting a Wilson next time....if I ever reload 6.5 Grendel and 6.5 creedmore

I’m using the RCBS Trim Pro powered case trimmer. I have had it for 11-12 years. It does a good and consistent job.

Been using the giraud trimmer (motorized) for years. Yes its expensive but its nice being able to trim chamfer and deburr in one step. Its as easy as using a pencil sharpener.
The only caveat is it measures trim length in respect to shoulder to mouth distance. So if your off on your sizing. Your trim lemgth will vary near a 1:1 ratio. Only trimmer to avoid this is the henderson trimmer since it measures off true oal.

Giraud cutter heads r good per caliber. And shell holder can be purchases on creedmoor sports. Id also reccomend upgrading the locking die to a whidden click die to make adjustments easier.
