Not going to burn up ammo I cannot easily and affordably replace, may need it depending on what sort of crap they try to pull on us.
My airguns will keep me current with most firearm skills.
-
Wish I bought more ammo so I could sell some now, but who are we kidding? I would just sit on it like everyone else. Fingers crossed that Trump pulls off a SC victory and the manufacturers can finally get a breath and catch up.
-
I dry fire a lot and shoot about 100 rds per week air rifle.
Just to keep muscle memory up to snuff.
Due to the election My Xmas present is going to be a Dillon re loader
and I'm going to build an AR10.
You AR guys( and Hawaii Democrats) finally broke my resolve.

Same here. I hardly ever shoot centerfire ammo now. I use my Umarex Glock 19 BB gun to practice drawing and firing. Only thing, is it is hard to find CO2 Powerlets. I have 84 of them right now and thousands of BBs so good to go for a few months.

Good choices.
I hope reloading supplies will be easy to come by.
LR-308/AR10 is easy as I recall. Barrel nut may require a different size wrench than 5.56. Receiver holding fixture is different of course.
Went through a few handguards and buttstocks before settling on a setup. Weighed a little over 8 lbs with iron sights and an ACE fixed stock..
Adjustable gas block made it a very soft shooter with 18.5" barrel.
-
Hope it won't get to the 2012-2013 levels where I had to cut back shooting drastically. When there wasn't anything by say .40 S&W ammo to be had. . .
-
After sandy hook, I try to get 40sw pistols and than get the 9mm conversion barrel.
The range was empty yesterday. I wonder if shortage of ammo helped to contribute to that
Reloading seems to be the way to go since it looks like Biden may pull it off and ammo may be scarce for a while
-
I have enough reloading components to last a while
I have enough ammo to last a while
I have multiple calibers so I can shoot something quite often
if I just want to shoot/plink, I have enough 22LR to last a while. I have 22LR firearms in revolver, semiauto pistol, semiauto rifle, bolt action rifle so I can practice or plink
since the last shortage, I started hoarding stuff. now i'm glad I did. and i'm going to hoard more if I can afford it and find it.
its just how it is now. and it might last a while
just like keeping money in the bank for a rainy day, we should hoard ammo for ammo shortage too

I stocked up on some .45 ACP just before COVID hit, with the intent on shooting that more often. May have to save that for barter/trade value. . . :shake:

I've been reading that in some places 1 rnd of 223 is at $3

Eff me. That means I shot about $450 worth of ammo this past weekend. :(

If anybody like buy, I am willing to sell 3000 rounds for only $2 a round. I will even deliver at no extra charge.

I guess I have to start training with those.
My friends' kids have a bunch of airsoft. Some of the full autos are damn fun! And the bbs aren't that expensive. It's the gas that gets pricey.

You can use Propane from those green canisters you can pick up from almost any store, just have to find the conversion nozzle so it'll fit correctly.
-
Like these? I have some of both. I think the Benzomatic cans are like $3-4. The “Green Gas” that I’ve bought for my friends’ kids are like $15-20.

Hmmm, with an igniter in the muzzle like the flamethrower had, could be interesting.

Heads are available but not at pre panic levels. Once fired brass is still available but some calibers are getting hard to find and prices are rising. Powder is available tho the powder made in Australia is basically non existent. There are a lot of good US and Canadian made alternatives available. You can even have them shipped to Hawaii if you can’t find them locally. The problem is primers. They are basically non existent here on the mainland. You can pay scalper prices assuming you can find them at all. I would look locally ASAP and buy as many as you can now if available. If not you are pretty much screwed until the panic is over.

Gonna be shooting revolvers for a while. I don’t burn through ammo as fast. :(

With so many boating accidents I hope you know how to swim?

It’s amazing how that works, right? And if you own a single action only revolver you shoot even less. It takes forever to load and unload a SAO revolver.
I’m going to buy another case of .22. I’m burning through .22 pretty fast these days. If Biden does win I can’t see this panic slowing down anytime soon.
I bought some extra mags for my Glock 17/22 conversion because one 10 round mag is maddening to have to keep reloading and it is hard to practice mag reloads with only one mag.
It is starting to get cold around here. We are expecting some below freezing temps at night starting Sunday and to continue for 4 or 5 days. In anticipation of the cold weather I have saved up a bunch of indoor reloading projects I can do when it is too cold. I do case prep, powder coating and casting in the garage. And I do the actual loading in the house.

green gas is just propane with lube added. I think it fits either one

But, you can get warm, and not have to constantly realize you are surrounded by liberals.
Keep telling my wife, I am trapped behind enemy lines here. Cope with my anger for the meantime.

SAO revolver shoots and loads at least 5 times faster than my falling block action Stevens rifle.

I feel sorry for newbies just trying to get started.
I'll help folks trying to get into reloading if they ask.

Yes I am staying warm. And there are trump signs and flags EVERYWHERE around here. People get out on street corners and wave signs and flags and drive around with flags on their cars/trucks. We have Trump train car rallies out here every weekend. We even had one claim of a 96 mile long rally with 41,000 cars outside of Phoenix. However, the news is reporting it was only 7,000 cars. ONLY 7,000 CARS! That is still a lot of cars!
You may be trapped behind enemy lines but you are looking in the right place to move to if you ever decide to make that leap.

And your Stevens Falling Block is about as fast as my Remington Rolling Blocks!
I have a Stevens Model 25 (made in 1925 with a low serial number) pump action takedown .22 rifle. With an octagon barrel. It is one of my favorite guns. :shaka:

I have been reading a bunch, trying to get up to speed on it. I bought Zediker's Top Grade Ammo and McPherson's Metallic Cartridge Handloading. They are both very dense texts, I feel like I am taking a college course again. I am hoping Black Friday has some great deals on equipment so I can start to invest. Also watching a lot of The Ultimate Reloading channel on Youtube.

Good luck finding primers. They are pretty much non existent here on the mainland.
If you have any questions you can’t find anyone better than Oldfart to get help from.

I decided to buy another case of .22 LR ammunition. Doesn’t matter if Biden becomes president or not. I think people are losing or have lost confidence in the system. I can see the panic will continue longer than I expected it to originally. I think I am in an okay position ammo wise now that I have another case coming. I can make everything else.
Now that I am practicing more I find myself getting more competent with a pistol like I used to be many years ago. But it also means I am using up a lot more ammo now.

Get a BB gun clone of your CC gun. That is what I use to practice drawing and firing, mostly between 3 to 7 yards, which is where 90% of SD gun use will occur.
-
AFAIK, nobody makes a Glock widebody (.45ACP and 10mm ) clone.
Might consider a 1911 type, assuming they are dimensionally close enough for a Safariland retention holster to function.
-
My Umarex G19 clone is identical on the outside as the real thing.

This is going to be one of my to-do list items this winter along with holsters and belts. I have a big enough garage that I can spend time practicing drawing and firing. When I get sufficient at it I’ll get holster certified at the range and then practice live fire, mag changes, etc.
-
I practice a lot in my garage and also hang beer cans and egg cartons from the trees in the yard to shoot at. Feels great when you draw and shoot in under 2 seconds from 3 yards and actually hit the can.
-
I like my SIRT.
Similar weight, removable mag for reloads, no real target needed (stick dots on walls) can use indoors and I don't have to pick up the "projectiles".
Good to practice with till I'm ready to buy a real firearm.

I have a "Glock-ish" clone airsoft pistol. Was promised that it would fit Glock holsters, but noooo. Haha. I still enjoy shooting the thing though. They do have Glock clones that are VERY realistic except the weight, and of course recoil. With the CO2 cartridge mags, their weight is decent, as opposed to the super light mags with just green gas. Lots of other brands where the airsoft is pretty darn realistic. Ones I've shot include 1911, HK45, and a few others.
We've had some pretty fun "backyard" competitions with airsoft. My buddies kids are darn good shots!

That's awesome! Try some "walk back" challenges. ;D
