Hi all, I know everyone has a bucket list of some gun, hand gun or other.
My question is: When you realize your bucket list handgun, are you satisfied after waiting all that time to get your gun?
(Mine, on bucket list, Luger P08)

Did someone on 2aHawaii sign up for a BOT service, intending to have it boost gun-related interactions via some canned topics?
This is yet another BOT account:

The again, this might be someone who registers at dozens of gun forums, then uses a software tool (Hootsuite is one) which posts and reads to/from many forums at once. Regardless, this account and others like it are just creating general firearm & hunting topics, not topics related to 2A in Hawaii -- or any Hawaii topics for that matter.
Based on the lack of responses to replies in ALL the forum topics I looked at for these accounts, I'm still leaning toward BOT. A human would occasionally answer to his own post when someone else replies to him.

He msged me directly to sell a saiga shotgun from his father on the mainland. Paid down payment wait to see shipping. Hope it's legit.

Nope direct. I have a bad feeling but worst case I will serve as a good lesson for everyone on this forum.

If it's a scam it's pretty elaborate. Got picture proof of gun with hand written note. Talked to him for days. Ffl sent info.

Go to Walmart and get a $200 GC. Text a pic of the code to 99Nevamine and you'll get $5000 worth of shooting gear. . . .

FYI. PayPal is anti-gun. They prohibit use of their system for any firearm related transactions.
Prohibited Activities
You may not use the PayPal service for activities that:
violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation.
relate to transactions involving (a) narcotics, steroids, certain controlled substances or other
products that present a risk to consumer safety, (b) drug paraphernalia, (c) cigarettes, (d) items
that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity, (e) stolen goods
including digital and virtual goods, (f) the promotion of hate, violence, racial or other forms of
intolerance that is discriminatory or the financial exploitation of a crime, (g) items that are
considered obscene, (h) items that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right of publicity
or privacy or any other proprietary right under the laws of any jurisdiction, (i) certain sexually
oriented materials or services, (j) ammunition, firearms, or certain firearm parts or accessories,
or (k) certain weapons or knives regulated under applicable law.
If you used a credit card to fund the transaction on PP, they may also have a problem if you used PP for a prohibited transaction.
Long story short: using PP is not smart. Not only are you unable to avail yourself of their fraud protection due to violating the Acceptable Use rules, but you probably lied about the nature of the transaction to avoid paying a fee, like "sending cash to a friend -- not a purchase". Credit cards offer fraud protection, too, but lying to PP and performing a firearm transaction probably voids their protection, too.
Once the money is in a scammer's PP account, they can withdraw the funds and abandon the account -- which was probably opened under a stolen identity, or it was a hacked legit account. Regardless, they will never be found by PP. The money is gone.
Next time, maybe ask opinions on here for advice on how to proceed. I personally would verify the FFL info via the ATF website (they have a list of all current FFLs in the nation you can search). Make sure the contact and mailing info on the ATF FFL record matches the info you were provided. it's easy to grab a digital copy of anything and alter the name or address, even an FFL certificate.
Then, i would make arrangements to pay the FFL. Have them act as a sort of "escrow". When the gun is in his hands, he delivers payment. That way, you know there's little chance of never seeing the firearm.
I normally use a credit card, even if I have to pay 3%-4% non-cash fee. That gives me a 100% guarantee that I can get the money back if it's a scam. Credit Card Purchase Protection details vary, so know in advance if you're covered for a specific transaction.
those are just the basics. Lots of other ways to verify things to CYA.
But, I'm sure an IT guy knows all about the Internet Scams going around. :geekdanc:

Some back and forth it's was a scam. Oh well. 100$ lost. Would recommend banning all these bots. I knew the risk. But was a little desperate. That's life your take risks, I knew going in that I wasn't going to get my money back. Please ban OP. If mods need proof I can provide of scam.

I think this guy (bot) came on right before Fell did.
Inspector’s been calling them out when sees same post on his AZ forum.

If people like you didn't exist (and have money), scammers would go out of business.

Yup I think they make accounts, post and pretend to be real. To create a false reputation so people trust. Then they scam. But I have to say this is the most elaborate scam I have ever seen. 76 emails. Pictures of the actual gun. Hand written proof with the gun so it's not just a pic. Custom messaging, phone numbers. Welp lesson learned. Once I clean my emails I'll forward to Mac and he can ban all the bots.

You know you can do a Google Search for images, right? Most scammers swipe the pics they use from online sources. Google will be able to tell you if that pic exists anywhere on the Internet to a reasonable degree of success.
But, you knew that ..... IT SME.

So, he's "offering" a gun for sale which he actually happens to own?
Man! This guy is a criminal mastermind ... and an IT genius! No wonder you were fooled!
Seriously, though, what was the firearm deal, and what was the price you settled on?
What's the market price for that gun?

A more "seasoned" forum member would have been less likely to get scammed. That's the kind of thing that comes with age and experience. We're not as likely to make purchase decision unless we're 100% sure it'll be a success.
When anything about the deal doesn't feel right, just walk away. Unless, of course, you're doing this so you can TEACH OTHERS on the forum what NOT to do.
I was going to suggest for next time, just give me your money, and I'll buy it for you, but that would be a straw purchase. If we could, you'd get what you want, the seller would get paid, and I would keep what's left over.

People getting desperate for money and scamming everyone. Sad
They just need one fool target every so often to keep them going. . . sad
WTF were you thinking? I mean I know someone who got scammed recently too. He really liked this girl and wanted to get her flowers for Valentines and fell for one of those online pre-order things. Quite elaborate as well with phantom shipping companies providing "confirmation" of delivery. He only spent like $20. I think he learned his lesson. But again, understandable as he was 15. . .
Seriously, sorry to hear that you got scammed. Hope you have learned from your experience. From what you've posted here, I don't think you've fully learned. Sometimes learning lessons the hard way is the best way to learn. That's totally true for me in many cases.

I prefer to buy local guns.... they're fresher.

I've been scammed before, guess I am too trusting. Sometimes you take gambles for good deals, I've won some and lost some. Shit happens, it was 100$ because I wasn't sure. I've lost more on one poker hand betting on a 25% flush. Just have to trust my gut more and be more careful, getting too complaisant. Don't want to get too down on this and move on. I am probably minimalizing this just to feel a little better about being scamming, but in the end I just thought I let everyone in the forum know so no one falls for the same scam. Get all these bots banned cause they are trying to trick people by seeming real.

I'll take calculated gambles on certain things. However, over the years I have come to go with trusted vendors on certain items, even if they are at a premium. I don't want any doubts about authenticity. I had a couple of counterfeit golf clubs back in the day from eBay. Luckily, eBay was pretty good about those things and I was able to get full refunds. In both cases, the seller tried the excuse of "we bought these items at closeout from another business that went out of business, so we couldn't verify the authenticity". For guns stuff, optics, etc, I definitely go with trusted sources. Amazon is actually one that I've taken chances on deals and I've actually thrown away a bunch of crap that I received. Yeah, live and learn.
Up to you to continue to try for deals, but then you'll be putting yourself at risk for getting taken advantage of again. Don't get complacent. . .
That you're "probably minimalizing" because of your feelings is why I said I don't think you've fully learned from this experience. That's on you though.

Put out a realistic list of WTB, and I think you'll get realistic feedback. Also, don't be a tool (like you have been) and I think folks will start taking you more seriously.
Personally, I have long have what I "need" and a lot of what I want. I don't think I would sell many guns. There's maybe one or two that I might consider, but it would be at a premium.

This, or I work with a LGS and have them bring it in. Even if it cost a little more. I don't mind supporting LGS because I often ask them lots of questions.

Not sure why mine is unrealistic. Yes, lots of people in Hawaii like to put premiums on guns. I am not able to afford these premiums, which forces me to go to the mainland for deals. I am not trying to be a tool, I just don't tend to fit in exactly with everyone's political opinions.

LGS are getting slammmmmed so I don't want inconvenience them to go searching for guns that are not in production. These rare guns are the ones I want. They can make far more money from servicing other people, who want production guns like a glock. Can't exactly say, hey I am looking for a p7m8 can you order one from your vender.

Maybe I'm exaggerating, but like this:
Luger P08
HK91
Benelli M4
People who own those aren't going to sell it cheap and IF they entertain selling, they're not going to want to deal with a yahoo. Your being a tool has nothing to do with your political opinions. As someone who owns some premium firearms, I can tell you that's what I think.

That's generally what I do as well. My Gucci Glocks, I ordered straight from the mfr on their Black Friday sale and used a "friend" FFL. Other than that, I generally go through LGS. I spread my spending to LGS many times when I could get items online. To me, good to spend money with them regularly.
But, how many LGS stock purple stuff?

In today's environment of Internet-based scams, anyone who doesn't do the minimum due diligence gets no sympathy from me.
My mom was close to retirement when I bought her a PC with all the trimmings, including setting up her cable Internet service. Since I was in HI and she in NC, I knew she'd need my help but would have difficulty over the phone (it took me almost an hour to walk her through unplugging her mouse and plugging in a trackball).
So, I installed pcAnywhere so I could remote into her PC and fix problems and install updates.
Now that she was cruising the Information Super-Highway, I constantly reminded her how to avoid scams, and to ask if she was ever concerned.
One day she got a call from "her bank" trying to get her to verify her checking information by reading them info from a check. She kept them on the line for 2 hours! She kept asking obvious questions, and when told to get her checkbook, she couldn't find it.  Right after that, she called the local FBI office as I'd told her and filed a report. The scammer called back the same week. My mom ran him in circles for so long, he started calling her stupid and slinging all sorts of insults!
If an elderly woman with zero IT experience can be taught to protect herself from scammers, I don't believe a college-educated IT "expert" is unable to do the same.
It's arrogance and hubris which is in play. If you think you're smarter/better than scammers, you'll pretend it can't happen to you.
I'm not the slightest bit surprised to hear this is not the first time OMIGOD has been taken to the cleaners. If you have to touch a glowing, red burner on a stovetop to know it's hot, and you've been burned before, obviously you're a slow learner.
The first time I made a purchase or bid on an auction on eBay, I read whatever I could find on protecting myself from scams and how to tell a bogus ad from a real on. The same was true on Craig's List, Amazon, Newegg, Gun Broker, etc. The ONLY time I was taken was for $60 for a Kydex holster. I was traveling back and forth to NC because My mom was in a care center after a series of strokes. I finally sat down after a month or more and realized I hadn't received a shipping email. When I contacted the seller, they said they were back ordered due to high demand. This was during the Sandy Hook aftermath when every gun store in the country was sold out of everything. They gave a date it should ship, and I accepted that. Two months later, nothing. Tried them again, and couldn't contact them. Turns out, they closed the online storefront without delivery thousands of orders. I only ordered with them because an ad was being shared on FB through reputable gun-related accounts.
After searching the BBB for the company, I learned they had 100+ complaints and were no longer active. Since it was 3 months or more since the order, my credit card company couldn't do a charge-back. Just what I needed on top of the stuff I was dealing with in NC.
I still don't know for sure it was a scam. It may have very well been a legit business that ran into cash flow problems and decided stiffing paying customers was their best option. Although, I do know scammers take the time and effort to set up LLCs for a phony business, take orders (and payments), then run off with the cash only to do it again and again. By ripping off each customer for less than $100, they can be pretty sure no single customer is going to make a effort to find and sue them.
So, yes these things can and do happen everyday. But that doesn't mean you can be sloppy and lazy and shrug it off as, "That's life".
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." if you can't be bothered to search for readily available information at your fingertips, you deserve what you get. One of the easiest is to just Google the name of the retailer and the word "scam". Anyone reporting a scam that matches should appear. Often, if it's a well established company, you can find individual blogs reviewing the company in great detail.
There's no magic shield to protect against scammers, but that doesn't mean you should make it easy for them.
I'm trying to not make this insulting -- just objectively truthful. Sometimes the truth hurts.
-

FYI other scams I had were mostly when I was young and through online games.
You take risks in life sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I like to belive in the good of people. If they scam me hopefully karma catches up to them. I've never scammed anyone. That's just how I live life. You can't always be paranoid on things you don't control. I've been cheated on in relationships, but I can't believe that all women cheat if not ill never have another relationship. Can't control others. Just be a decent human and hopefully more good things happen to you than bad. I've done risky deals where it actually worked out and I got a great deal. Then sometimes things like this happens.

So, the other scams were like last month? ???
Sorry, had to. I mean I am quite trusting of people, but as a very wise good friend tells me "trust, but verify".
While I am sure we all can keep railing on you, you HAVE to take responsibility and own up to things. You're still passing off the responsibility as "because others take advantage". Eh, that's life! Unless you change, you're going to keep getting taken advantage of.
That said, I know folks who own waterfront property in Arizona. Prob not far from uber nice gun range. I heard they are willing to sell, pretty cheap. . .

When I was heavy into mmorpgs in my preteen and teen years.
True. I am going to use this as a learning experience and do that while trust but verify.
It's a sad world that there's people out there who are untrustworthy. We are all Americans we should help each other not hurt. Hopefully they see their errors and change or karma or if the magic man in the sky exists everything will equalize out in the end.

mmporgs? What kind of sorcery is that? Haha
I mean I get what you're saying. I do somewhat believe in what goes around comes around, but not to the point of "protection" or "penalties". I mean I'm not totally jaded to where I don't trust anyone. Actually, quite the opposite. But YOU are in control of the choices YOU make in life. YOU!!! Own it, and I think you'll grow more from it.
Anyways, my 0.02 as the extra cup of coffee is kicking. . .

Paranoid is another name for "fear" (yes, these are synonyms).
I don't fear scammers. I prepared myself to recognize one when I see it. I try to keep up on Internet scam methods, because the people who know me ask my advice (a "real" IT guy).
IT is a profession that is always changing, not only the technology but also in the ways people apply it. It's required in this field to stay informed of these changes.
Some people just don't use technology for good. Hopefully we all know that fact.
In 2016, the Democrat National Committee was scammed by a phishing email. That's how someone hacked their emails, which to some degree helped Trump win. It doesn't take being paranoid to not click on a phishing email link before confirming who the sender was. A quick phone call to the supposed sender would have been wise. But, that requires experience and personal responsibility, as well as a work ethic that helps one follow the rules even when nobody is watching.
Wise ... that's a word we don't use often now. Wisdom used to be something people in the US valued, respected and wanted. Now, too many are raised with no values, no respect, arrogance and a desire fort whatever the last commercial we saw told us we "needed."
Taking responsibility for one's own actions, as DRCK1000 said, is really where the solution lies.
I remember a line from the movie The Godfather: "Women and children can afford to be careless, but not men." In that era, men of the family took care of the women and children. They had to take responsibility for themselves and for other family members. If they made a critical mistake, everyone in the family was impacted.
It's no wonder you don't seem to get this. We brought up personal responsibility in the abortion train wrecks many times, but you always supported a guilt-free, responsibility-free abortion system so everyone can screw their brains out without remorse or consequences.
Carelessness ..... Ainokea. It all makes perfect sense.

If the seller, then it's obvious he was prepared and use that to further build upon some false sense of security -- not to mention the arrogance of a youthful know-it-all.
If the buyer, then it's obvious the seller had no fear of being found out, because the intelligence of the buyer had already been established.
-
I don't think your problem was that the seller doesn't have the Saiga, the problem was that he was looking to rip you off.
Compared to the Nigerian Prince who's selling a Saiga and used goggle images just to show the gun.

I am sorry you were scammed. You have no one to blame but yourself.
Us old people have an old saying that we live by. “If it seems too good to be true, it is.” That price was too low in this market. Another old person saying comes to mind “Getting something for nothing”. The lure of getting the gun for a low price without common sense shows greed. Feelings over common sense. I dare to say typical of Millennials.
What bothers me the most about all of this is you have been scammed previously. You are a human being. There is another old saying. “I think therefore I am”. You are supposed to learn from your mistakes so it doesn’t happen again. But apparently you didn’t learn the first time or the second. That is worrisome. It goes to show a lack of critical thinking and common sense. But then you also justify your mistake by using a poker analogy which you probably used the first time you got scammed. This is clearly not the scammers fault. People will be evil. It is your responsibility to be smart enough not to fall for the scam. At the very least you should not have fallen for it after the first time. What scares me the most is that you can and probably will reproduce. And unless you grow up, and grow up quickly and become an adult that can function in the adult world you are just going to teach your children to be same way you are.

Its true it was my fault I was scammed its not like I am blaming people. I was scammed when I was 14. Not sure how that translates to a lifetime of never getting scammed again. I will make some changes on how I act, but I won't live a life of paranoia. I still try and believe in the good of people. The poker analogy I did use that as an excuse after my first scam. Went on to making some deals that went perfectly well and made far more than I lost (in video games). I have no fears of reproducing, children are not clones. I will teach them to take risks that are appropriate. Go into the deal with the thoughts of can I accept the negative outcomes. What is the potential gain? Is it worth the risk? In this case losing 100$ for potential gain. Just like in poker everything is a calculated risk. I've lost hands, but I've won hands too. So far I have come out on top more often. For me its all about risk and reward. Is the risk worth the reward and if I fail will I accept the risk? In investing in stocks, its all calculated gambling. You must go into it with the knowledge you might lose it all. Are you willing to have that happen, is the gain worth it? I only invest money I can afford to lose. Knock on wood but so far this risk has been paying dividends.
In this case I lost, and I was a bit hubris and ignored some of the warning signs. I got greedy. I didn't properly evaluate the risk and reward. I need to work on my greed. Also I need to do more research and trust my gut. Scammers have come a long way since I was 14. I have to learn to spot details that give away its a scam. Everything in life is a learning experience and I hope I have learned from this. But to say my future children will be a bunch of scam falling for people is a stretch.

pre-1898 are considered antiques.
Found one in Kansas so My BIL can pick it up
but the price is too low to be true. ~1800$
Most pistols of that era are $3,000 plus.
You know a C96 has the same ballistic
characteristics of a .357 Mag?
But like you say it is an antique.

I have a Red 9. It is reblued but not too badly done--it looks nice. Unreliable, awkward to handle, a bitch to reassemble and parts are almost non-existant.
Makes a great paperweight but a pre-98 SAA would be a far better piece for shooting (and I don't care for shooting SA revolvers, even though I always seem to have a few lying around).

Although I wander a bit. isin't this a gun oriented forum?
What is an SAA?
Red 9 is Chinese so what do you expect?
SA revolvers don't really match up to a
C96 semi, stripper clip fed 10 round internal magazine pistol.
Keep me updated as I will all my fellow 2A site guys.
We are entering dangerous times.

SAA=Single Action Army
Red 9 is the war-expedient 9mm chambered C96 pistol fielded by the Hun. They had a red "9" carved into the grip so that the 7.63 Mauser wouldn't be mistakenly loaded in it.
This is considerably less drift than some other threads.

Another old person saying “Ignorance is bliss”. Or he is blissful in his ignorance.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I don’t have an extra $100 lying around that I am willing to risk losing. I value my money and the hard work it took to make that $100 too much to make that mistake more than once. As a matter of fact I can honestly say I have never fallen prey to a scammer. Ever. Because I value money and the sweat that went into earning it. And I would never teach my children that it is okay to put yourself in that position for ANY reason. No matter what the reward might be. Personally I think that is bad parenting. But what do I know?
For me, I have a lot more than $100 I could take a risk with at any time. But I would never do that for any reason. The way I see it is that $100 is 500-1000 rounds of ammo I could make to shoot that would last me a month or more. Or it could mean having to wait a month or more to buy that gun I wanted because now I have $100 less to spend on it. Or maybe I might think about that $100 less than I had to go towards a down payment on a house I tell people I am saving up for. Or if you want to look towards the future that $100 is $100 that will never go towards my child’s college fund or food. To be so cavalier about losing $100 and then not learning the only lesson there is and that is to never to take that chance again is just beyond comprehension. And because he has not learned that lesson he will hand down to his kids that it is okay to lose $100 if the possibility of the reward is there. The future of our country is in the hands of people like this. :(

I take it you don't gamble? Do you have stocks? If you do, do you invest in low risk? Everything in life has risk and reward.
I'm guessing 100$ for ammo refers to reloads. Which you invest your time. At my age time is money. Couple hours of reloading is 100$ if I work. I get saving is important. If it wasn't a scam I would save 100 or so dollars on a gun. If the next time I don't get scammed it evens out. If you eat a nice meal vs a cheap meal that's money "wasted". For me there is a limit to being frugal. I may only have one life and I can get hit by a bus at any time, enjoy life, take calculated risks, this isn't Egypt you cant take your money to the grave. We have different mindsets on life but doesn't mean one of us has to be right or wrong.

In poker, there's such a thing as folding. Games have odds associated with them, and they help determine the SMART play versus the STUPID, ALMOST NO CHANCE OF WINNING play.
If you play poker the same way you approach giving strangers on the Internet PayPal money, we need to start scheduling poker nights.
I'll bring the chips; you bring the dip! :geekdanc:

If he'd actually folded after putting $100 in the pot, I'd have more respect for his skill and discipline. Instead, he checked every round, then called a $99 raise on the river with a busted straight (assuming the ante was $1). Lost to a pair of deuces. The only thing he had a chance of beating was a lower garbage hand.
That's not gambling.
That's having no idea what you're doing.
Since SOMEBODY missed the point of the post of a f*cking dollar ...
Assume OMIGOD was on the button. Now, when the hand goes "Check", Check", "Check", "Raise", and OMIGOD is faced with calling or re-raising a $100 bet, instead of folding and keeping his $100, he calls the raise nothing but Ace high, because "Gambling."
Poker requires more skill than most games. Anyone who calls it gambling is saying they don't know enough about the game to be good at it.

One more thing. In casino gambling, including poker, if you're playing against the house, you're starting out at a disadvantage. They set the rules, they have the odds on their side, and they can afford a few loses whereas you might be busted after a few tries.
The scammer was "The House." He set up the game, he created the constraints for play, and he had time to prepare before you ever received that first email.
You basically walked in, put your money on the table, and said, "Show me how this works."
If this is what you call gambling, I'd have to disagree. I call it, "Being a fish."
If you understand the game, you have a better chance at achieving a favorable outcome. People who walk up to a $100 minimum Black Jack table and haven't the first clue about basic strategy might as well wipe their ass with their money for all the good it's doing them. Maybe the dealer busts, and the noob wins that first hand. It doesn't matter. Chances are good he's going to give it all back -- if not that session, a later one. The same greed you blamed will increase as the noob wins a few times ("I AM INVINCIBLE!). That's when you find him at the cashier's cage asking for a credit card cash advance. Remnants of "Lampoon's Vegas Vacation."
If $100 is no different than water to you, then I see how you could be scammed multiple times. I BET this will not be the last time.
What you do doesn't affect me directly, but I hate that another scammer succeeded and will scam again.
In the grand scheme of things ...

You still don’t get it. There is no comparison here. I don’t gamble, tho my wife likes to play nickel slots when we go to Vegas. And when you purchase stocks at least you are buying something tangible like partial ownership in a company. What did you buy? Fucking idiot. You got ripped off and you are still trying to use analogies that don’t apply to make it sound like everyone does it. Nobody here does the stupid things you did.
There is no comparison to investing and getting ripped off by a scammer. Next time suggest to the guy you are buying from to use an escrow company and see him run like hell. If he is legit he’ll go for it. If not you save yourself from getting ripped off. Stupid ass. Eating nice meat is not being so stupid you get ripped off by a scammer. At least if you eat nice meat you get what you paid for. How is that the same as being stupid like you are? You got nothing for $100. Being frugal is not spending money you shouldn’t spend. If you can’t afford it you shouldn’t spend it.
But let me tell you about myself. For over 40 years I brought my own lunch to work everyday. Could I have afforded to eat out everyday for lunch with all of my friends? Of course. And occasionally I did. By not eating out I put almost $20 back into my pocket almost every day. And I took that $100 a week that I saved and invested it. Which let me remind you is NOT the same as allowing yourself to get ripped off and then trying to justify it by using analogies that are not even close to being the same thing. I invested in stocks when I was younger. I decided I didn’t like the risk and moved to investing in real estate. I have done quite well for myself all the while earning less than you do. If you read books by guys who worked regular jobs and became rich they all have one thing in common. It was not how much money they made that got them rich. It was how much money they didn’t spend that made them rich. Most of them never bought a new car in their lives until they were already rich. Most of them made their own lunch and brought it with them to work every day. Most of them were frugal because they were smart enough to realize that a penny saved is a penny earned. You can say what you want and do what you want but until you realize the truth about how the world really works, you will never be successful working a regular job with the attitude you have. I became successful because I didn’t take unwarranted risks with my money like you do. I didn’t go out and eat expensive steaks even tho I could afford to. If you work a regular job you have a choice, live for the now like you are doing and have little to nothing when you get old. Or watch what you spend every day and don’t take stupid risks with your money. And take what you save everyday and invest it in something tangible that will make you money over the long haul. You can’t argue with my success and you can’t argue with the real rich guys who became successful working regular jobs and were frugal when it was appropriate. That is the difference between our generations. You think in the now and I think for the future. And the real difference is I acted for the future. Being frugal when appropriate was a big part of that. But taking everything I saved by not taking risks is what got me and every other rich guy who worked a regular job where they are today.
And if I didn’t say it enough before, quit trying to make yourself look like everyone else here by trying to compare your stupidity with everyone else here who invest their money. It’s not the same thing. Otherwise all you are saying is that everyone else here is as stupid as you are. And I can attest that nobody else here is as stupid as you are.

Re-loads can be addictive, especially when your chasing.
I’m down. I’ll play for low limit to more. To me, me it about the read of players.

Wait what? I "folded" after the 100$. I put no more into the scam once I knew it was a scam.
He played the hand.
He had a small chance of winning. (Low odds)
He wasn’t holding a good hand but wanted to see the flop.
He matched the blind with a minimum bet.
Saw the flop and folded.
Pretty much this.

Any of y’all want to play poker. NLTH, I am down...
I love poker. Last time I played was Vegas and that was the only place I made money, Beating the house didn't work :(
-
You still don’t get it.
You missed my point but ok. I get what you are saying. Its not like I spend frivolously daily. I also take home lunch and save. But saving isn't my life. Its all about balance. Take some risks, have some fun but you never know what life will give you. I got a 401k, savings, stocks and I have fun money. Plan for the future but enjoy the present, is my philosophy. I got budgets for many things, money to live, money to save and money to enjoy. What I did was a bit dumb I admit that I paid 100$ on a gamble but its not going to destroy my life losing 100 bucks. Just gotta compensate in other areas of fun money. Not eating out for a couple of weeks or not buying a gun accessory. Got a set monthly budget for "fun" and unfortunately this scam took some out of that. Live, learn, move on.

I can't think of a pistol that I need or want...maybe a small carry gun like a sig,365?

Your poker analogy was terrible from the start.
You had the ability to see all the cards before putting one cent at risk, but as you admitted, greed got the better of you.
Arguing over a crappy analogy theme is pointless. This was a real world mistake. It had nothing to do with gambling. Gambling would be taking a risk on the condition of the firearm, not that you'd lose your deposit. This whole thing was preventable for most of us. Trying to convince us the scammer was THAT GOOD means you believe any one of us here would have fallen for it. Truth be told, I haven't seen anyone else report being scammed in spite of all the obvious SPAM/SCAM accounts posting here lately.
I don't care it you ever admit you were negligent. Just stop rationalizing it ... over .... and over .... as if it was just something you were doing for entertainment purposes.

My nephew shot my P228 and then shot a friend’s P320. He really liked both Sigs. He was carrying a S&W Shield and didn’t care for it. I suggested he look at the 365 so he went and rented one and decided that is going to be his EDC gun. He found one on the Internet somewhere and bought it. It’s a very nice little gun. It fits my hand well considering I have long fingers. The trigger is actually pretty nice on it.

I still want an original Python. In blue. I am going to start saving for it. I am willing to pay up for it. I hate to pay such a high price for one. But I have wanted one for a long time. It might be I am buying my first safe queen. There is one at a local LGS that has been there for months. It is NIB and about as close to unfired as you can get. Hopefully it will still be there when I get the money.

Doesn't have the allure of the Ruger MK4 for collector value, but check out the S&W Victor for a shooter. I want one with a RDS.

How does that compare to the stainless ruger with volquartsen llv upper. That currently is my dreamish 22lr pistol goal. I was looking into the S&W options. Not sure what is peak performance so only one to blame for poor shooting is myself lol

Dunno anything about that upper, or Ruger and S&W .22 lr pistols in general. Gotta ping the SMEs here.
My opinion, pick up a variety of firearms and SHOOT! I mean get all of the high value firearms that meets your heart's desire. That said, you need to get to shooting. I can appreciate wanting the best for "peak performance" to remove the variable that it is equipment related. But in general, the majority of quality firearms will be capable of way more than you are (same for me for that matter).

Makes my dad's MKI Target look pretty plain.
Is it any more accurate?

me too. I am very satisfied with what I have. my revolver collection is pretty good, but theres a few that I would add to it, maybe a Dirty Harry model 29 would be nice. I have a 629, but its not the same as the 29
I would like a Nighthawk or Wilson or Les Baer or Dan Wesson 1911, but I am very satisfied with my Springfield Operator and Long Beach Operator and Elite operator. they all shoot great. I probably wont get a custom 1911 unless I get an offer I cant refuse
I've always wanted a Python. realty happy i'm getting one soon. although its not the OG Python, I think it'll suit my needs just fine
one revolver that I think is realistic for me is the S&W 460. I like the versatility of this gun and its not crazy expensive, but its not cheap either

i'm not sure how it compares to earlier Mark models bc I've never shot one before
the Mark IV is pretty accurate. its my new favorite plinker. its only a couple months old or less and already put several hundred rounds through it. very dependable only 1 ftf but I think I didn't push the ammo all the way into the mag so was my fault not the gun. and the take down is super easy. 1 button take down, take off upper, remove bcg

This will certainly be a very interesting month or so. Both firearms item buying (Black Friday sales) and see what develops otherwise.
I've come to be "it is what it is", might as well enjoy what I've got.
