Trump has been permanently suspended from Twitter and conservatives are being purged from social media and the internet, book deals, jobs, etc. Even Apple is trying to remove Parler from the app store today unless they implement draconian new speech policies.
There is a very real possibility internet service providers could also become part of the purge as well. If this site goes down where do we rally?
Ham radio net? Email/Phone list? Meeting regularly IRL?
I just got a message from one of my industry heads talking about the "terrorist attacks" and everyone who supported trump or believes the election is rigged should be punished. We might have to turn into one of those secret societies with handshakes and passwords very soon.
Up for suggestions.
-
This is unfortunate, while I think Trump is a dumbass and says stupid things, its his danm American right to do so. This has implications on free speech. Big tech has gone too far. I gave them some leeway but this is too much.

This is what the Left means by "Unity." Everyone must agree with the ONE party line (in unison) or be punished.
The party of tolerance has never demonstrated tolerance for anyone opposing their policies.
I saw that a new member of Congress (self-proclaimed new member of the "Squad") is drafting a resolution to expel all GOP members of Congress if they supported Trump's challenge of the election, calling them all traitors.
Meanwhile, in 2017 ...

You said Big Tech can do whatever they want -- private companies are not governed by 1A Free Speech rights. Nowhere in the Constitution is it an "American Right" to post on Twitter.
Now they have gone too far? Maybe this is the result of allowing them to start down this path and ignoring the obvious, logical outcome.
People like you giving them "leeway" is what enabled and encouraged them to do exactly this.
We warned you, but you were too smart to listen.
-
Another issue is that our open forum offers ample opportunity to be infiltrated by HPD Stasi, ATF, Antifa or other related groups posing as allies in order to derail the conversations. Red flag laws mean it is becoming less safe to hang out on a public forum as exercising our first amendment rights can now be used as a justification to take away our second.

They have a right to add disclaimers, fact check etc. But to summerly ban the president of the USA is too far in moderation. There is always a gray area, I still believe they also have the free speech right. But whos free speech matters more is the question. They are a private company but also parade themselves as a public forum. So I believe there must be some equality between both peoples right to free speech. Disclaimers, fact checks etc is a good middle ground. Banning people isn't.

Capitol riot and deaths have given the Left the moral justice to over reach as usual. In this clip of the retired Air Force woman being shot point blank by the "capitol police" she was clearly not armed and at the time was surrounded by police in the line of fire. The clip is long so skip to the 34 minute mark. Give me your description and assessment of the shooter please. Warning, may be too graphic for the pussies. When will politicians and the media stop lying to us?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfiS8MsfSF4&feature=youtu.be

FAWK ! She’s literally standing next to cops.
But you’re right. This event gave them their moral justice in the eyes of the mass public.

The video brings to mind the storming of the Bastille, at the dawn, of the French Revolution. May be there were Antifa present, but the majority of people I saw were not mindless Trump zealots, but the remanence of the American Republic making a stand, at their own national capital, to take their nation back, from the US Imperialists. As a Hawaiian working for the de-occupation of Hawaii, by the US empire, I shed a tear for that young woman, who was shot, by a frightened coward, hiding in the shadows.
THAT WILL BE THE SHOT THAT WAS HEARD AROUND THE WORLD IN THE 21ST CENTURY.
So it begins; the final chapter of the US empire.
So much the better...

So, the Cops standing 6 inches from the protestors didn't feel threatened to the point of drawing their firearms, yet someone behind barricaded doors felt the need to fire a weapon because one person was almost past the barricade?
Outside the barricade -- not a threat. Inside the barricade -- threat.
The person firing was NOT in immediate danger. How do we know? Because other Cops standing in front of the barricaded doors were not harmed, nor did they draw their guns. In fact, they calmly moved aside to let the protestors past them.
I don't see a justification of self-defense in this video.

I'm thinking that f*ckn coward hiding behind the barricade was not a Capitol Police officer.
I'm thinking Secret Service. WTF was he thinking? Maybe, just maybe that barricade was the line drawn in the sand. Protocol calls for any unauthorized person passing that line is a threat and will be shot. I dunno.
And what was she thinking? That guy clearly had a bead on her for a while. Why didn't she back off? Maybe she didn't see him in the excitement.
What a tragedy. :(
-
Now we see why sec 230 was so important to be removed. All these companies are immune from lawsuits. So they got the best of both worlds.

No self defense, there were protected vips behind that barricade. That's his job to keep them safe. Just like if you run at the president be prepared to be shot.

Well Flapp, you should very much know that the government usually does not prosecute one of their own. Not only do I predict that coward not see any jail time, but might be given a medal, for his heroic acts in defense, of the imperial Congress.

Or she was committed to fighting, for the restoration, of the American Republic. Something she was willing to take a bullet for, in the process.

Name the VIPs behind the barricade.
Congress was adjourned when the whole thing started, and they returned late at night to finish the electoral vote certification.
I guarantee, if anyone was still in the building, it was NOT members of Congress. Security would have evacuated them knowing there's no way the security team had the people needed to protect over 500 "VIPs".

That makes things interesting.
Perhaps, that Black security guard saw the opportunity to shoot a white MAGA? protestor, fulfilling personal revenge, for all the White cops that shoot unarmed Black people.

I thought the shooter was SS but I read that it was a plain clothes DC police. I assume they had a plan for ROE if the crowd tried to break in.
Those cops had weapons drawn. That lady must not have been thinking clearly to keep trying to break. (I assume she saw the drawn weapons)
-
Ill prob get roasted but ..
1. Who knows whos back there (when the lady got shot) . I know they adjourned that whole thing to get everyone to safety. Maybe they actually were back there? Idk the layout of the captiol. Does anyone here know? But i do know they will evacuate the central meeting place and place them in offices or the furthest place from harm. Did they get all of them offsite?
2. Protest peacefully. I said that with blm and antifa. "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes." If someone were to climb into your house, what would you do? During a riot?
I feel bad she died, but obviously dont climb barricades.
3. Just like blm and antifa, who protests in crosswalks and jumps onto people's cars. I like watching them get run over. Thats just fuckin dumb.
Edit:
Continuation of number 2.
A good cop, someone i knew long time ago said.. if someone breaks into your house throw things to make it into an obstacle. Have 911 on the phone. And yell the person who is breaking in to back off and you have a gun. If the asshole continues to come at you, it shows intent. And that unfortunately was the lady's downfall. She was climbing through the window. Intent. Maybe she had a bomb ? Its not like they went through security screening (screening of persons and property) before entering the building lol.

Parler could also be experiencing a massive influx of people trying to get in before the Apple ban tomorrow, and my guess is a lot of folks are also trying to figure out how to get the APKs working for their androids.
I have not flashed an Android in years but my guess is it has probably become easier now. A little scary to try on a fancypants late model Samsung but you can get a cheap phone or tablet and find instructions on youtube.

Pence and Sen. Charles Grassley, the president pro-tempore, were taken to a secure location.
Capitol placed on lockdown, buildings evacuated amid protests
There are several buildings in the Capitol Complex, including the Library of Congress, which are all interconnected by tunnels. It's not a far stretch to guess how and where all the Congress Critters were evacuated. When people are trying to come in through the front, you go out the back or through the tunnels to other buildings. Every building has evacuation plans and meeting locations.
So, what were the names of the VIPs remaining in their offices even after an evacuation order was given?

I have bought some phone off the net that were factory rejects. The ones I bought in particular are.kind of off brand ones there are no longer supported. I'm using one I had bought new but the other ones I got the only problem was the digitizer for the screen was shot. I just replaced it and for about 40 bucks I was good to go. Only problem is the is is maybe 2 years out from the final update they published. I still like it and think is more secure than the big names like Samsung and apple.

Before installing APKs from questionable online sources please do your homework so that you are not accidentally loading contaminated files. Ideally those looking to run banned apps will have much improved experience by installing a custom ROM, but this does not completely stop your phone from spying on you. The only way to be sure is to physically de-solder the mic, camera, and gps unit and use plug-in headphones that are disconnected when not talking. Not saying there is a need for that now, but we do have a Fusion center up in Wahiawa so when IRL meetings become a thing again it may be worth considering. Also stopped by TCX wireless today looking for burner phones/sims but I could not tell how the prepaid plans worked so I am still searching for a way to not enter in any personal identifying information. Definitely do not buy anything on Amazon because they can trace the accounts and IMEI numbers back to you.

That looks promising, but warning labels still say that is is for developers and not yet a consumer ready product. Ideally we can find some way of getting the technologically challenged boomers here to the rally point as well.
I just checked and Signal offers group messaging, but blowing up phones with news feeds is less than ideal. Still it is a way more secure way of sharing information than the private message feature here. Could come in handy for when covid restrictions are lifted and we can meet again.
One of the best people to follow on the subject is Ed Snowden. Although "retired" for some time now and not privy to the latest tools he has some great insight into privacy and security

This is actually one of the most important questions we can ask to help get us through the next few decades, and I am very grateful you brought it up. Like so many other technologies that were promised to change our lives for the better, the internet has become a total disappointment. We were promised that it would promote free speech and democratize the planet, but today we witnessed the prison doors slam shut. People who are fortunate enough to still have their jobs are more productive than ever, because now that they can take work home with them the work never ends. Kids who would have forced their parents to resist unlawful lockdowns are developing mental problems and killing themselves from social isolation after being hypnotized by crappy entertainment for the past nine months.
Asking those who still remember how they used to get things done without involving network computers is a great way to get back some of that freedom and autonomy that was stolen from us.
Time is not on our side now that the Federal government just got hijacked by a bunch of techno communists

I would assume the gun stores would be one sort of hub but not the best way to disseminate information. I think people would have to subscribe to newsletters by the Hawaii Rifle Association or other such groups. This would give us regular sources of information and can announce times and places where we could meet. I grew up in the infancy of the public internet so I have always had this in one form or the other to communicate but clearly people managed to organize without it. MLK Jr. didn't get the million man march with Twitter.
-
i'm thinking any IRL meeting, we're going to be infiltrated by HPD and/or FBI informants, trolls, their ilk. It's sad that we're becoming East Germany.
The thing about East Germany is that it eventually failed not because of a violent revolution, but the people simply stopped going along with the program. When Erich Honecker ordered troops to fire on crowds of people and they refused the wall came down within a week. Slavery requires participation.
“There has never been a slave who did not choose to be a slave. Their choice may be between bondage and death, but the choice is always there.” Tyron Lannister
As far as keeping infiltrators out of meetings, people have been more or less successfully doing that for thousands of years. The difference is with modern technology we are actively inviting them in, and as a consequence they have grown lazy. Forcing them to get off their bum and do a spy campaign is real work vs letting AI scan the hard drives of the "enemy list"
Also these are small islands which means informants are much easier to pick out. Hawaii actually has an advantage in that way.
-
Troll here often?
Obviously, your critical thinking skills are lacking.
It's a serious question -- probably more serious than your question.
The Internet is NOT the solution. It has become the problem. From an information perspective, it's a godsend for us research-aholics who thrive on learning new things and keeping abreast of changes in our career fields.
However, for the most part, it's also become an addiction for a large sector of the country. Kids graduating high school and college can't remember facts or directions for how to do things without Googling them. They are addicted to social media -- to the point that researchers say getting "likes" on a post or video is akin to the feeling one gets when playing a slot machine and winning.
It's also become a repository for your entire life, allowing outsiders to access your most critical and personal information -- that includes government agencies.
With all the bad actors using the Internet as a medium for their scams, misinformation, stalking, political messaging, and commercial ads, I believe there is at least as much bad on that information highway as there is good.
I'm 59, but I bet I was doing more with computers, databases, digital communications and similar technologies in the 80s and 90s than many people do today. Simply asking what old farts did before the Internet is a very narrow question. Not all of us were/are technologically illiterate.
-
Stop trolling. It is a great question and actually introduces something positive to the conversation besides just complaining about the problems we are facing and bragging about past accomplishments

If it is a safe haven/rally point everyone is looking for I can create a private forum where you must be allowed in. Let me know and I can create it. It won’t be public and cannot be seen by outside sources.
Easy enough to do.
-
If there is enough interest in having an Internet Rally Point that is private I will be happy to set it up for us. Please PM me and if I get at least 20 people that would participate I’ll create one. I’ll allow in only people with a current account and you have to use your current username so we know who we are dealing with. Anyone who creates an account after right now must be invited by a current participant.

The problem is Apple and google dropped them off their app stores already. I think that may be the death of Parler even if they stay afloat. A lot of people are not going to like using a web browser to connect. Hopefully, I’m wrong.

I am since retired. I have worked exclusively in the private sector. But I have worked as a Special Inspector, Commercial Building Inspector, Construction Inspector, QA/QC Inspector and Engineering Technician in the construction industry. I was often contracted out to the HDOT, UH, C&C of Honolulu and the Airports. I was even contracted out to Kobayashi Construction as a QA/QC Specialist. I was responsible for all the QA/QC on the big condominium project at Ala Moana Center. I am certified by ACI and ICC as a Concrete Inspector, Masonry Inspector and Post Tensioned/Prestressed Concrete Inspector. I have my 30 and 40 hour OSHA and HiOSH Safety Certifications. I have worked on numerous major projects in and around Honolulu and Kapolei. Both Public Works and Commercial projects. This includes the H1 Makakilo Offramp to the Waterpark, the H1 Pearl City Viaduct Rehabilitation, The Rail, The Parking Structure and New Terminal at the Honolulu Airport, and numerous other projects in and around Oahu. I spent 2 years on the Big Island working on the Kealakaha Bridge Replacement doing QC for the concrete supplier. I spent my last 2 1/2 years of my career working for the best engineering firm in the state. I worked as an Inspector and did some engineering work for them. I even consulted for them on various rehabilitation and new construction projects. I changed careers mid life. And except for 12 years on the mainland (1996-2008) where I went back to college and got my degree and worked in the high tech field programming and scripting software, software testing and hardware DVT for Cisco Systems, Emulex and Qlogic. Plus some other short lived tech companies. The majority of my career was spent as an Inspector. I started working at 13 and my career at 18. I have worked full time for 44 years. I retired on March 13 of this year.
I have been on this forum almost from its inception. I have spent my entire time in the islands helping new shooters, as an NRA Certified RSO, I have volunteered most of my years to the HRA for the Shooting Sports Fair every Father’s Day weekend (except the last 3 years due to physical injuries), I have taken off of work to do things like protest at City Hall for the 2A cause and have donated a good part of my salary to local and nationwide 2A groups. I have been a part of almost every Gun Show one way or another volunteering mostly for the HRA but for helping out other groups as well. I have been a part of the 2A scene most of my years in the islands.
I dedicated most of my life to public life safety in the construction industry (which is the main function of an inspector) and gun safety and the 2A cause. I have probably brought in more new shooters to Hawaii than most here. I really don’t think I need to have anyone here “vouch” for me. But if someone cares to do so then they can.

Steps for preventing Apple from deleting Parler from your phone:
1. Go to settings;
2. Click on “screen time”
3. Click: “Content & Privacy Restrictions”
4. Click: “iTunes and App Store Purchases”
5. Click: “Deleting Apps”
6. Click: “Don’t Allow”
https://parler.com/post/d3d42e9d25dc43eca3dc889a1d5fd395
I also read somewhere that you can still install the Parler App via their website but not 100% sure on this.
Scroll to the bottom of this page and click the appropriate Apple or Android icon.

Nope. I had two Big Island Forums. One for 5 years (Kau Forum) and the other for 12 years (Kona Forum) before I let them go. I was a web designer (Da Kine Web Design) and a web host (Da Kine Web Hosting) since ~2002 as well as a side business. They were originally Brilliant Web Design and Brilliant Host. One of my websites is still active. It is KHSC.INFO (Koko Head Shooting Complex) if you want to see some of my work. I no longer own it nor administer it. I gave it to one of the members here. I built the site and administered it for the 2A community for a few years before I retired and moved off island.
All I am proposing is a private forum such as the one we are on right now. Only you have to login in order to access it. Out of the prying eyes of everyone including search engines using a free service. But I am not getting enough interest to do so. Since I am not hearing enough interest in a private forum, what I will propose is a group chat on Signal Messenger instead. You can Google that for yourself. You can find out all about how secure and encrypted it is. All one has to do is get the app or access it through a web browser. Create your account and let me know your user name on Signal and your username on this forum and I will connect us all through a group chat.
Do you still have any questions?
-
Okay everyone, here is what I propose. Since there doesn’t seem to be enough interest (I’ll wait a couple more days) to get 20 people together to create a private forum as a rally point in case this forum is censored, I propose we just create our own accounts on the Signal Messenger which is encrypted and secure from prying eyes and I’ll create a group chat on there so those of who are concerned about losing access due to censorship can rally to Signal and stay in touch that way until we can discuss and figure out our next step.
Actually, I like the idea of being on Signal better as it will be easier and less work for me to maintain and administer it. So the people serious about staying in touch will need to provide some sort of verifiable information that one of the admins here can check including your screen name from this forum so we know who we are talking to on Signal.
What does everyone think of that idea?

The only issue i would have with this is that you’d be listing everyone’s phone numbers in the Signal group to the group.
A suitable countermeasure to protect everyone’s privacy is to use an alternate phone number for each member, but that would require each members to create a Signal account using a number other than their real one.
OR
We can just call or message each other in real life.
Personal relationships and trust built over time is more important than trying to meet strangers at this stage of the game, at least for the immediate short term.
Anyone can create their own “coconut wireless”circles in Signal and we can pass information to each other that way.

Hey JL,
For me I don’t really care as my number has been public since 2008 since I have used it for my businesses all these years. It’s not like no one can’t find me easily.
So if it agreeable for allowing one’s phone number to be made available only to the less than 10 or so people so far then it should be okay. We can us regular text messaging but I believe the phone companies actually keep records of our text conversations. Allowing the government to subpoena them if necessary. I believe I remember a few cases where the government subpoenaed the records from the phone companies.
At least with Signal our conversations will be encrypted and kept from prying eyes. At least until they change their privacy policies. Then we might have to switch to another service. But until then I’m game. Anyone else?

I'm probably the biggest pirate on this forum.
Inspector can tell you.
I spend many of my Teen age years in Paramount and the Wilmington district
of CA.
But as a point of interest
we are spread from Oahu, BI, AZ and beyond.
I'd be happy to talk treason, but to what end?
If I could Nuke Washington DC, I'd do it in a second.
But more likely I'll give Iranians money to do it.
We aren't going to change Hawaii laws, legally.
We aren't going to change Federal laws. legally.
Start thinking outside the box and go "Dark" WEB.
Aloha.

I’ll vouch for Mac who vouch’s for Inspector.
I hope this was a sarcastic or tongue-in-cheek comment as Inspector Dave is one of the most respected and long standing members of this forum.
He re-did the whole Kokohead Shooting Complex website among other things.
He actually had a get together in his honor with a number of members on this forum when he departed the State.
I tried making an account through Parler’s website but sign ups are currently unavailable.

My only problem with signal, other than jack Dorsey giving it his thumbs up is that, it is known encryption. Meaning gov alphabet would have more or leas no problem decrypting it. If the encryption method is known to them it is almost trivial for them to brute force it. Meaning you would need something original that they haven't seen before.
My two cents anyway.

Thanks for vouching for me. I never thought anyone would ever ask that. It’s a valid question, he doesn’t know who I am. But still....
Parler is set to be thrown off their servers sometime this evening by Amazon. Why they put their servers into the hands of a tech giant I have no idea. But that is their stupidity. They probably are finalizing their backups and their plans for getting their new servers online and then restoring. They stated they would be offline for no more than 12 hours but I was in IT for too long to know the best laid plans of mice and men..... So to stop new account creation is part of their backup and restore strategy. They have to stop allowing new content at some point so when they restore they do so back to the same point as where they stopped. Otherwise any new content like new accounts allowed to be created after their final backup would not exist after they restore. It makes sense to halt new accounts until they are back up and running.

Besides, my RE license expired on 12/31 so no more RE for me. You can trust me now with your used toilet paper again. Wait....

Will take a look.
So far, I have had no reason for a cell that does more than make and receive calls. I presume the monthly charge to use one of those poke the screen things is a lot more than my old regular phone.
Seems to be why Verizon and all push the things so hard.

I'm the one who is newish. I've lurked since moving back home to HI. Just seeing the state, the state and nation is in now after 40 years away is shocking. I'm former mil Intel and what the military and government knows, you don't want to know...

Flip phones are under $50 for most brands, normally available in $25-$30 range.
You need to check which service providers have the best reception/coverage for your location/s first. Then you need to decide on whether you want a plan, or just pay-as-you go. Pay-as-you-go normally requires paying for a month at a time, and you get charged the full month's fee even if you don't use all the data & minutes of talk.
You need to decide if you need data and text or just voice, as different carriers have different plans and costs for each.
I'd pay for it with cash, and if you need to use a credit card to add minutes/features, use a prepaid VISA funded with cash. I'd also not order it online with my home or work address (or mom's, or a friend's, etc.). The whole point is to separate your identity from the phone so it can't be linked to you. If the store asks for personal info, say it's a gift, and the recipient will activate it later.
You might also want to think about getting a model/brand you are familiar with. It's much easier to find settings, such as disabling GPS.
Here's an example of a Walmart-branded phone that works with T-Mobile 4G networks.

Awesome advice, thanks. For now maybe we can make a group on Gab?
Or, maybe it's better we all get a burner to use on signals. We need to use asymmetrical stragities and tactics, similar to what antifa and BLM are doing. I don't even like having to post this here.
We need to be stealthier.
What broswers are better than Chrome? I've tried them all:
1. Brave uses up phone resources to mine their erc20 token.
2. Mozilla, just as liberal
3. Edge is decent but just as bad as chrome and Firefox
4. Idk

Had to take a break to go surfing and wash off some negative emotions, but luckily Laniakea was going off today!
I got the Alcatel flip phone and KaiOS is basically android light and infested with Google. The good part is it makes a great replacement for a smartphone if you are trying to break the habit of playing with it every 5 seconds like me. The security issue I noticed right away is that it burns battery super fast when the WIFI is on so you know it is sending information back to the mothership.
Also got a cheap Nokia and it seems way more secure (simple OS and no snapdragon processor) but I had issues with both bluetooth head phones as well as the plug in ones. The call quality was the deal breaker for me, but then I found out there was a significant solar storm on the day I tested it so will have to give it another try.

It was both a joke and a suggestion.
I was pointing out that before the internet the gun community still managed to exist. I was also making fun of our reliance on the internet these days.
