I'm supposedly in a high risk category (mid 60's) and eligible to get shot.
I'm not eager to be a guinea pig though.

Without a second thought. Getting one soon myself.

Yes, but I’m referring to it as “The Trump Vaccine.”

a couple of buddies got Moderna. Both decently fit and both said second shot was pretty bad for a day after. Like bad hangover.
-

Not part of 1a but 1b.
-
I work in health care and am in group 1A
I got my 2nd shot. Pfizer. 2nd shot was worse than the first. initially pain not bad, but later that evening got bad shoulder pain and body aches and generally tired. lasted maybe 24 hours, maybe 30 hours. after that I was fine. although was tired and body aches not too bad bc I was able to work the next day
heard of a few people had to call in sick for 1-2 days after getting the 2nd shot

Do you drink/dope-up at work, or is this really the state of your mental condition?

I'm retired so yeah, I would. If I was still working I would be a bit more eager to get the shot. Right now I'm more meh.....all I do is stay home and once a week go grocery shopping. I no go no place.
I tell my wife to get the shot as soon as she is eligible. She is still working so I want her to get it.

I think getting the vaccine is mostly safe. There's a risk with any drug/vaccine/surgery, but I'm in a relatively high risk group. If offered, I would take it.
Part of that is my military training. The chance of bad things happening if you get sick outweigh the potential (unlikely) bad things that could happen from the vaccine.
However, I don't agree the vaccine should be mandated. Fuck anyone's personal opinion on infringing on others' freedom to live and not be at risk. There's nothing that says you have a right to be safe from other people's infections. There's no way to 100% prevent it, so pretending we can and demanding masks and vaccines is childish as well as fascist.
My body, my choice. If I need to wear a mask to avoid infecting people, so be it. But making me take a shot that's untested to any effective degree is the worst thing to do.
Imagine if 20% of the vaccinated children develop autism, or 30% of the men become sterile. How about 50% experience a drop in immune response to other diseases they didn't experience before? Until the numbers come in over several decades, you're mandating everyone take that risk. That's not science. That's emotional fear and dictatorial compliance.
Reminds me of the movie Die Hard.
Big Johnson: "Figure we take out the terrorists. Lose twenty, twenty-five percent of the hostages, tops."
Little Johnson: "I can live with that."
-
Took Pfizer 2nd shot as part of 1a. I was hesitant but reviewed source of truth data and justified based on my health = low risk issues. Side affects: headache, body ache, and chills after 24 hrs getting vaccinated. Recovery another 24hrs.

Sounds similar to the after-effects of almost every immunization I've had to one degree or another. Sometimes it's just the swelling and soreness around the injection site. The worst was Yellow Fever that took me Fri-Mon to feel well again.
What are common side effects of vaccines?
The most common side effects after vaccination are mild. They include:
Pain, swelling, or redness where the shot was given
Mild fever
Chills
Feeling tired
Headache
Muscle and joint aches
Fainting can also happen after any medical procedure, including vaccinations.
Keep in mind that most common side effects are a sign that your body is starting to build immunity (protection) against a disease.
Every immunization clinic I remember required me to remain in the area 15-30 minutes just in case there was a severe reaction.
-
U can look at it this way, if there are any long term side effects, u will be too old to care as much compared to somone who is 20 now.
Younger person if worst case scenerio would be unable to live the rest of their life happily (make baby, maybe need meds for ever, etc...)
At 60, youve had a full life, so i would go for it.
Im in my 30s and wont get vaxxed unless i have to in order to travel. My wife is on the same page. She has travelled many times since this began and has been fine without a vaxxx.

I respect those who are anti-vaccine as it’s their choice and personal belief. In fact, an estimated 35% healthcare employees are hesitant themselves and have not gotten vaccinated to date.
However, there may be social consequences in the near future for those who are not vaccinated such as restriction and limited access to public and participating private entities in both physical and virtual forms. Even being flagged to existing and future employers.
There are plans evaluating the radical shift of Hawaii’s social-economic factor and recovery forecast between optimistic vs pessimistic trend.
Do your due diligence and seek source of truth data and white paper documents to make a decision vs relying on the news.

I know a health care worker that had covid
When they asked about the vaccine they said un necessary because they had covid.
Not sure how they supposed to show their "papers" though.
A positive test result?

======
Health care workers who tested positive are monitored daily and are unable to come to work until cleared by employee health. COVID positive employees to get vaccinated is case by case basis determined by their PCP and employer guidelines that are following CDC framework.

Thanks for all the opinions and points of view.
I'm still debating with myself whether or not to get it.
At my age, I lead a rather mundane lifestyle and go to work in a secured room.
I'm well stocked on Microban, Lysol and alcohol.
Given my particular circumstances, I'm leaning towards not getting the shot yet.

I respect your decision. If you live alone, don't go outside, have no family and friends then yes no need vaccination. But, if you have friends and family who are considered high-risk and they live with you or visit, I would reconsider as you can be a carrier and spread it to them as many of the positive cases are clusters due to people gathering. High risk are folks with pre-exisitng conditions such as weak immune system, cancer survivor, Type II diabetic etc.
Majority of hospitalizations and deaths equals to patients having pre-existing health conditions. Too much rice and stress, not enough exercise. The best thing you can do to fight COVID is to get into the healthiest version you can get mentally, internally and physically.
-
In all honesty, it still will be a few more years before the entire planet can get to some sort of pre-Covid-19 socio-economic normalcy, with or without herd immunity. Until that time, preventive measures should be appropriately practiced, as there will be many new treatments and updated vaccine versions developed, as more empirical data from both the survivors and fatalities, of that virus, are documented.
Based on that premise and in the short-term, I will still probably be practicing prevention and rely on the rapidly increasing number of treatments that are being discovered, should I have the misfortune of contracting the virus. In the long-term, I will most likely get vaccinated with the latest version, of the Covid-19 vaccine, at year five or later. In my projection, the availability of reliable global data regarding the virus, the survivors, and fatalities will be available, at that time. Hence, not saying the current iteration of the Covid-19 vaccine is not safe, but the researchers then will probably/hopefully be able to develop a much more safer and reliable vaccine with less potential side effects.

The vaccine notwithstanding, it's a good idea to continue to eradicate ALL germs/bacteria/viruses by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing common areas.
Then again, anyone growing up in a quasi-sterile environment can fail to develop the immunities needed for common diseases, making it worse WHEN/IF they contract something.
We can't win, can we? :shake:
-
Based on my age and my basic health I would not normally even consider getting it. But with my wife being an at risk person I don’t want to accidentally bring it home to her. I want to do everything I can to prevent her getting it from me. So I think my best chance of not doing that will be if I get vaccinated. Hopefully at the same time she gets her vaccine.

I also believe in natural immunity so I have no problem playing with the dog and picking up his crap.
I believe in the 5 second rule. Especially if it's shrimp or charsiu.
Ie. I am not a germophobe.
I think everyone should evaluate their individual situation and weigh the factors.
Eg.
If you contact many people on a daily basis, then get it asap.
-
Yep, this is why if my wife has an opportunity to get vaccinated, I'd encourage her to do so. She works for an Electrical contractor and the boys are constantly going in and out of the shop and into the office to ask her questions.
When the expeditors are busy she goes outside to receive materials from the supply house.
Anyway, she is in contact daily with people who are going on and about different places interacting with different people.
I'm retired and no go anywhere aside from the one weekly trip to gas up the car and buy groceries so I feel I can wait until more vaccines are available.
-
My friend is a real doctor and said the best thing you can do for your kids is to have them go outside and play in the dirt. Not disinfect every thing they touch. But this was preCovid.

Yesterday, one of my docs just said the same.
Rockette and I are in the + 60 w/ no real conditions.
Neither of us are interested in getting the Vax.
Our parents let us eat dirt, play in the mud and we drank out of the garden hose.
We rode our bikes w/o helmets, ate road kill and seat belts weren't even invented yet.
The chance of us being 1% of the population that gets infected and part of the .01% of that 1% that dies is probably less than those that get the shot and turn into flesh eating zombies.
Best case scenario is we get to dish out the head shots.
Worst case scenario is we take the head shots with a fever.
Bon apetite !

Small kid time way back then I used to suck the water faucet pipe at school.
I seldom cleaned my fingernails after playing marbles in the dirt and I would eat rice with my hands.
If we skinned our knees and dirt got into them we just shoot it with the water hose. And then we said "owweeeee......"
We used to play in the sugar cane ditch with the water tainted with fertilizer and heptachlor from the pineapple fields of Wahiawa and Mililani. Actually there was no Mililani back then, lol!
We all believed in either the 5 second or 3 second or whatever second rule if food fell on the ground. Hell, some of us didn't care about time. We just hose um off with water.

The older I get the longer the rule gets. Sometimes have to have a 1 minute rule so I can go get something to get the food out from under the furniture.

Depends. If it's the last M&M or french fry, it's worth the effort. If there's plenty more, it stays under wherever it landed until we move or replace that piece of furniture or appliance!

I am going to pass. Not in the danger age and relatively healthy so there is not much to worry about. The possibility of disastrous side effects a few months or years down the line definitely concerns me. These are experimental drugs and I would prefer to be in the control group.
-
I took a vaccine on Thursday, but it wasn't for covid.
It was shingrex. It has similar side effects which is why I didn't go to the 2A rally.
sucks to get old

I'd take the shot after the seniors and relevant medical professionals get theirs.

Dr. Fauci said this week that political division slowed the treatment and prevention of COVID. What you said is a good example that what he said was true (for once), although I have a feeling he was talking more about policy than medicine.
If it didn't come with a big pay cut, I would have expected Biden to make Fauci Surgeon General.

Seems like they called in all favors with the stooges, on their payroll that they had in the government to delay such treatments, until they could solidify the contracts for their vaccines, first. Now that they got those contracts signed, all the non-vaccine research and treatments are allowed to proceed.
More evidence how the ultrawealthy controls things, at the expense, of their cattle subject citizens, in the US empire.

New drugs bring higher prices due to patents and the justification of recouping R&D and Testing expenses.
Trying to just increase production of already existing drugs that have outlived their patents is a horrible money-making proposition, especially if generics are on the market.
Geesh! Think of the drug companies' executives! They have to get their investments in before the market crashes!

the people i have been following on youtube and twitter since january have been saying from the start- do randomly controlled studies on ALL drugs, and see what works. there are dozens of drugs, from anti-androgens to anti-depressants, antibiotics to antiparasitics, and many others that are shown to have at least some efficacy
HCQ/zinc/azithromycin from the start was shown to be huge, and ivermectin is even better
@covid19crusher on twitter is a leader in reporting on these...
@covid19critical on twitter is the team of doctors that came up with the protocols the FDA and WHO are ignoring

Why "treat" covid when you can vaccinate....
-
Why "treat" covid when you can vacinate....
Is that a synonym for "vaccinate?"
We can't eradicate a virus in a few months. That takes decades, and isn't always possible.
Are you suggesting we stop treating those infected with COVID just because a vaccination exists?
-
Why "treat" covid when you can vacinate....
ivermectin works as a prophylactic, hcq/azithromycin/zinc (and can add ivermectin) can prevent worsening disease if giving stat after a positive test
this has been know since spring/summer, you know, before there was a vaccine
would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives...
what is "vacinate"?

Sure let's get a time machine. Cause we found some stuff that might work. I would have bought more tesla and bitcoin. Hindsight is 20/20. What if they introduced treatments that didn't work and killed people?

I was fortunate enough to get the vaccine. After completing both doses, i am on the mainland for a while, hunting turkeys and visiting family and friends. The vaccine is like the golden ticket! Yes, its possible I could still get infected .01% of vaccinated folks have) but highly highly unlikely it would be a serious case requiring hospitalization. So I am surprised that only about a quarter of the poll respondents in this survey indicated they would get the vaccine. Its a shame that this has been politicized and people are immune to facts, science and information.
My brother is a doctor here on the mainland. He gets death threats every day now, just for being a doctor. Again, anybody that works with science or has an education seems to be a target of hatred, driven by politics and assumptions of some people. Hard to understand.

Eventually I'll get a vaccination. Just not yet. It was offered to me months ago.
Several reasons why I turned down the offer.
1. Too new
2. Newer improved vaccines are still being rolled out
3. Not very active, socially.
4. Not planning to travel anywhere.
So basically, everyone has to weigh their particular risks and needs.
I do take an annual flu shot and I just got a shingles vaccine...ie. I'm not an anti-vaxxer
-
My reasons are:
1) Too new
2) Better stuff may come out or the bugs worked out. Think of it like a 1st gen of a car or firearm. Usually there is some problem that is fixed later
3) Not FDA approved yet
I don't get the flu shot, but then again I don't take tylenol type pills either. But I'll down creatine and preworkouts like there is no tomorrow.
I'm not anti vaxx, I'm anti new vaxx. But if I had to take it to travel, then I would.

Your reasons are the same as mine. On reason #4 I do plan to travel eventually. After I retired I plan to visit places like Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Alaska, etc. But not a good time right now.
I was a Vegas junkie prior to this covid BS. Used to go at least 2-3 times a year. I have no desire right now not so much because of the reports of people not following safety protocols. It's more because there are fewer table games and what few they have has plexi-glass all over the fuckin place and the places to eat is few and far in-between.
And not all casinos and hotels are open and some if not all are not 24/7. I'll wait. No biggie.
If "they" come my house to give me the vaccine I would take it in a blink. Otherwise, ahhh....when-eva.

If you have your NV CCW, they no longer do walks ins. You have to make an appt to schedule a walk in. Right now the Metro has nothing available.
I follow YT on people gambling and I don't see any staff wiping machines in between users. Understandable not wiping chips and cards, but the machines can be done on a regular basis. So gotta remember not to rub eyes or dig nose while playing. Gotta purell right after usage is done. Only 2 buffets on the strip are open. 1 is Wicked Spoon (Cosmo). IDK the other one.

You have to factor in that this poll was put up over a month ago. Not much data was available on the side effects, risks or availability of the vaccine back then. A lot has happened in the last 40 days.
Now that you know (and trust) that 0.01% of vaccinated people might contract the virus anyway, you're able to argue that point. That data point didn't exist in mid-February.
Also, many people who opt out don't have a job, don't travel regularly by air, and/or don't care if they can't go to picnics and soccer games. Not everyone lives the same lifestyle or has the same family & friend situation.
It's easy to judge others when you assume everyone has the same situation and priorities as you. Not everyone does.

That's the problem with this virus. For every Dr. or like authority figure that says the vaxx is safe, there are another who says the opposite with the same credentials. So in the end, it's a personal or business call why to take it or why not.
If I was 60+ I would take it. I had a good life and got nothing to lose at that age. But since I'm much younger than that, I'm hesitant. There are no long term studies yet because it's so new.

If I was 60+ I would take it. I had a good life and got nothing to lose at that age. But since I'm much younger than that, I'm hesitant. There are no long term studies yet because it's so new.
I believe this statement is misleading. A large majority of Doctors say its safe. A tiny minority says its not.

What do you guys think of this?
Nutjob? Retired and then went nuts from boredom?
Dr. Michael Yeadon, Pfizer’s former Vice President and Chief Scientist for Allergy & Respiratory who spent 32 years in the industry leading new medicines research and retired from the pharmaceutical giant with “the most senior research position” in his field, speaks-out about what he calls the coming carnage.

People like him are the bad apples of doctors and give a bad name to other doctors. Much like the bad apple police officers.
-
I think this part of what he says can be easily refuted, if it was false.
If not, then that he said makes sense, why are they lying?
“If I can show you that one major thing that governments around the world are telling the people is a lie, you should take my 32 years of experienced opinion that says, most of it, if not all of it, is a lie.”
“The most different variant is only 0.3% different from the original sequence as emailed out of Wuhan in … January 2020. 0.3% [is] the one [variant] that is the most different on the planet so far. And now another way of saying it is, ‘all of the variants are not less than 99.7% identical to each other.’
“Now, you might be thinking, ‘hmm, .3%, is that enough [to escape immunity and become more dangerous]?’ The answer is no. Get away, ya know, get out of here …
“The human immune system is a thing of wonder. What it does is when it faces a new pathogen like this, you’ve got professional cells, they’re called professional antigen-presenting cells —they’re kind of rough tough things that tend not to succumb to viruses. And their job is to grab foreign things in the near environment and tear them limb from limb [inside the cell]. They really cut them up into hundreds of pieces. And then they present these pieces on the surfaces of their cell to other bits of your immune system, and amazingly, because of the variability that God and nature gave you, huge variability to recognize foreign things, and your body ends up using 15 to 20 different specific motifs that it spots about this virus. They’re called epitopes, basically they’re just like little photographs of the details about this virus. That’s what they do. And that is what is called your repertoire, your immune repertoire is like 20 different accurate photographs, close-ups, of different bits of this virus.
“Now, if a tiny piece of the virus changes, like the .3% I’ve just described, if you are reinfected by that variant, your professional cells tear into that virus and cut it into pieces, present them again, and lo and behold, most of the pieces that you have already seen and recognized, are still there in the variants.
“There is absolutely no chance that all of them will fail to be recognized and that is what is required for immune escape, to escape your immunity. It must present to you as a new pathogen. It must be sufficiently different that, when it is cut up by your professional checker cells, it won’t find mostly the same thing it has seen before. And that is just absurdly impossible when you have only varied .3%, so it is 99.7% (similar).
“You can go and check that by looking at papers by a person called Alison Tarke. There is also Shane Crotty, and all of the other co-authors.
“And before them, coming from my theoretical understanding of multi-locus immunity, which is what I just badly tried to describe, to what actually happens … If your [immune system] is presented with something that contains even half of those similar pieces, there is no way your body will say, ‘that’s a new pathogen.’
“And, so, the idea that 0.3% could even have a chance of getting around immunity is just a lie. It’s not [even] like an opinion difference.
“I don’t think 3% would be enough. That’s 10 times more variation than has occurred in 16 months [with this virus]. I don’t even think 30% difference would be enough. So, I’m saying that 100 times more variation than has actually happened, would still leave me putting a big bet on the human immune system not being fooled that these are new pathogens.
“I’ve chatted this over with several professors of immunology and they agreed with me, it’s like, ‘why are you asking me this?’
“So, I think that what I’ve just said is that governments and their advisors in multiple countries are lying about variants. That’s a massive thing! You should check it out. Your readers should check it out. If it’s true, don’t you think it’s terrifying?! It was when I realized it.

Humans have 99% the same dna as chimpanzees. Is that 1% difference important? You be the judge.

That is why I usually wait and see what is really going on when the other monkeys start screaming

doctors are courted my drug companies

I was going to get shot after my doc told me to get it.
I'm not so sure about that now.
Apparently a lot of other people feel the same way.

That's true of nearly every profession. From car repair, construction to dental. But we still trust the professionals.

I also look at it like a liability issue. If they told you not to get it and you get sick, that opens up to a lawsuit. If they tell you to get it and you get all jack3d up, then they can blame the CDC and Fauci and Biden, etc...Plus add in the protection of big pharma laws.
Same goes with why they themselves may get it. If they got sick and gave it to staff or patients, then the lawyers will ask why they were not vaxxed when the CDC recommended it.
I've had 2 real doctor friends off the record tell me not to get it and wait due to my age.
So to each their own. If someone wants to get it, go for it. If someone doesn't want to get it, then they should not have restrictions in public. But for each side, they pay for any consequences that happen to them.
The only pharma stuff I take is excedrine for migrains. I don't take tylenol (i know the same ingredient is in excedrine) for fever or body aches and OTC stuff like that. But I do take sports supplement stuff, so ain't that something.

A very wise and trusted friend told me many times "trust but verify". Something I have taken to heart. There are many examples of scams/shams who appear to be legit, professional, SME, etc. only to find out that they are scams.

I agree, but if you have a bunch of professionals saying the same thing, it tends to hold more weight than your own opinion. For example if you go to 3 different repair shops and they tell you your valves are bad, it probably is bad. So if millions of doctors and the government are recommending a vaccine, it probably is good, at least much better to listen to than some randoms on the internet or quackdoctors.

please prove "millions of doctors are recommending the vaccine"
start with the number of practicing physicians in the US...

9.2 million doctors in the world. "Millions" would mean only 25% of doctors would have to go on record supporting, hardly a difficult benchmark.

First, you can't identify (1) the population of "doctors" you are including (Does Dr. Jill Biden make the cut?), and (2) any survey of that defined population that supports ANY percentage you just pulled out of your arse.
Secondly, Science does not require a consensus. No matter how many "doctors" parrot Fauci's messaging, the message doesn't magically become "science" based on numbers of people spouting it.

Try read the site. It only included medical doctors...
And consensus plays an important role in science...

Medical doctors in WHAT FIELDS? Not all real doctors are experts in virology.
"Consensus" is not the same as independently reviewed and verified.

"Try read" the link you posted.
The article has NOTHING to do with your supposed "statistics" about consensus. It's about "Global Supply of Health Professionals".
Get a grip on reality. Posting a link with an ESTIMATED number of doctors and nurses globally is NOT supporting your theory that ANY percentage of ANY survey of ANY population of doctors exists.

Try understand the original question was about the amount of doctors in the world :shaka:
As we don't see a majority of doctors NOT recommending the vaccine. Its safe to assume that "millions" of doctors do recommend the vaccine.

As Mac said, the issue is not the number of doctors globally, but the fact you have no evidence that ANY percentage of ANY defined population of said doctors agree on ANYTHING.

I guess captain obvious is not your friend. Love to see the millions of doctors opposing the vaccine. Haven't seen them. But according to you they must exist. Unless all doctors are just being quiet or communicating in secret.

So my wife made appointments for me and her yesterday. We were scheduled at 4:45 and 4:50 pm. We arrived early and saw no one in line so they took us.
This was the one shot J&J vacc. It was being administered at Rec 5 in Mililani Mauka. My son-in-law was scheduled for 2:30 the same day.
My wife and I experienced no symptoms so far. Guess we're lucky. Aside from both of us experiencing manini soreness in the arm after the injection, it went away quickly and we didn't feel anything else.
My poor son-in-law was not so lucky. He came home half-day from work today and he is feeling really lousy. Hope he recovers quickly.
The guy is 6'2 and 220 lbs. Big Samoan. I'm a typical filipino runt. Funny how this vacc affects different people.
