Title: Happy birthday 1911!
Post by: stangzilla on March 29, 2021, 10:08:58 AM
110 years ago today the US Army adopted the 1911 as their duty sidearm
besides revolvers, I love the 1911.  my favorite semiauto.  it may be outdated, I like to call it timeless
Truly an iconic firearm.  110 year old design and still in demand today.  thank you John Moses Browning for the design, genius of firearms inventions and innovations
to me nothing says America better than the 1911 (at least for a semiauto sidearm)

Almost every semi-auto handgun today has "borrowed" from the 1911's design.  It is the standard by which all other pistols are measured.

Even if the 1911 design itself is "outdated," it will continue to be the baseline for future semi-auto handguns.  It was revolutionary & evolutionary.

You have to appreciate the skill and imagination of John M. Browning and his brainchild, the 1911.

Wasn't that, "smells like victory"  Napalm in the morning?
M1911 is a great gun, My brother has Grandpa's,  issued to Grandpa as a pilot in WWI.
I have a 1911A, Rand 1943, my Dad got a hold of somehow.
M1911 is kind of like an AK47, a Peasant's gun.
It works when you need it to and doesn't take a lot of thought
to be effective.
