Title: Restringing a compound bow

Generally how much to restring a compound bow?

My coworker got a compound bow from his brother but it needed new strings.  I think he said just the new string cost like $110....so labor was about $90.  I think the only thing he had them add was a nock point.  No peep sight or that thingy  and the tube thing to align the peep sight

I assume the string already has serving on it

Sounds about right! I had mines done two years ago and it was around that much at Island Archer

Thanks!  SAS Feud is about $200, I’ll probably get that.  I paid like $30 for my bow a few years ago.  I guess time to let it go to bow heaven

I might step back and shoot a recurve. I have to pick one up. Compound is getting expensive, 20 years old, cheaper to buy a used one at this point. Hoyt Magnatec or limbs at 60 lbs, 28" draw length, gold tip 340 spine arrows with 100 grain muzzy mx3 arrow heads.

Good point.   I have 2 cheap SAS Spirit recurve beginner bows.  I’ll look for a hunting recurve

Just make sure to wax your string and I use teflon oil on my cams to extend the life. Good maintenance makes it last longer. Check your cams if you drop or fall with your bow. Check your limbs too to make sure no cracks or splinters, run gauze over them.

Good points to keep them waxed when storing and yes gauze of cotton on limbs to see if cracks.  It may save you from having it explode on you on the draw.

A friend of my friend has a bow press.  I just need to buy the string.  The manual says 38” string

Would this be okay?  Comes with servings.  $25.  It was the first one I found in Amazon

I would check the owners manual or tuning charts online to be sure.

The bow was made like 25-30 years.  I’m guessing bow strings have changed a bit and the manual would have outdated info in regards to strings.  Maybe just the length and # of strands in the string (which I believe is related to the  draw tension) would still be relevant
