Title: EDC pocket knife/Civivi Ortis
Post by: spicynoodle_1 on April 28, 2021, 07:06:36 PM
What is everyone carrying as their EDC knife?  I’ve been trying out a couple of Civivi’s (Ortis and Elementum) for the past couple weeks to about a month.  So far they have proven to be arguably the best budget folders that I’ve tried.  Haven’t had a ton of experience with different knives, but I have had carried and used knives at work and in everyday tasks in the $150-$200 range, and these have held up as good, if not better in some cases.  Just wanted to see what the community is packing in the pocket...

i was looking at the civivi pintail in M390 just this afternoon
but for a dollar more, you can preorder the kershaw dividend in M390 (and it's made in USA)

my current edc is the kershaw link in 20 CV

i love it
i know i would not want to carry a more expensive knife for fear of losing or damaging it...

ZT 562 and 566

I also have a Kershaw M390 I carry when going camping. It’s a great beater blade. I’d be fine with it as an EDC, but usually pickup the ZTs when I head out.

chose this today bc the pocket clip matches the color of my pants  :shaka:

I have a ZT 0357, think it’s a Ken Onion. Great knife, just wish it wasn’t assisted...

Why not assisted? I have both, and like both.

I’ve heard some have had the assisted open inside their pocket. I haven’t experienced that *knocking on wood*

Hinderer Eklipse Bowie: Like my other two, required polishing & redrilled detent hole, but once done, makes this washer knife feel like it's running on bearings.

Undisclosed Benchmade: My workhorse since 2011. Still going strong. Swapped the springs out twice.

ZTs were always one of my favs. That being said, Chinese mfgs are killin it in the knife game. In some cases, their clones have better fit n finish than the real thing, and some are using real super steels in their product. But I try not to support the CCP.

Not so much the assisted opening part, love that.  But it’s the closing that I find frustrating.  I like opening/closing with one hand and it’s difficult for me to close an assisted knife with one hand because of the detent it hits halfway down.  I always feel like I’m gonna cut myself...  then again, I have wee little hands... 😕

Ahh. Gotcha. Know what you mean. I usually close/fold on my leg.

Lots of Spyderco fans do those open/close tricks. I got ok good at them at one time.
