While speed and alcohol are likely factors in this weekend’s crash, residents say safety measures are needed on the roadways to force people to slow down.

just like blaming an inanimate object - like a firearm. The root cause is always human nature and laws need to be obeyed.

Speed tables?  Yeah, that will help slow down many drivers, but others will view it as an opportunity.  Cue Dukes of Hazzard theme song or Fall Guy. . .

Maybe if the Maui Cops weren't busy with other things, they could set up speed enforcement at places where people claim the traffic is routinely doing 80 in a 30MPH zone.
