what kind of stuff do they sell there?

Lots of different stuff. Most all the gun shops have booths. Alot of the clubs have booths. Knives, swords, gear, new and used guns, ammo.
Do your research on the stuff you are interested in before hand to make sure you're getting a good deal. Some stuff for sale can be overpriced IMO.

+1
This is completely true.  Bring cash and low expectations and you'll have a good time.   I made the mistake of rushing my way through it last time, so go slow and be sure to browse each table, there are some nice things out there if you just look.

Hah!  I do just the opposite--I tend to blaze through there and try to spot the deals before they're gone.  One word of advice--if you see it, like it and can afford it, don't fool around--buy it right away.  If you walk away from the table someone else will buy it for sure (don't ask me how I know).

Hows the ammo selection in the previous years? 308, 556, 12ga?

If you go early you can get the NEW OLD STOCK deals.

I scored last year
9mm $7 a box 124gr FMJ
556 500 rounds XM855 $100
12ga Slugs 2-3/4" $3 a box
308 win american eagle 168gr $10 a box
9mm Hydra Shocks $3 a box

Selection is typically limited from my point of view. For instance, if you are looking for bulk military ball ammo you should find Young Guns, Security Equipment and maybe OGC will have deals in .223/5.56. Don't recall if I have ever seen .308 and 12ga but I don't shoot those calibers so I am not usually looking for them. If you are looking for bulk .22 and/or 9mm, .45, .40 and don't care about brand then Young Guns usually has some sort of sale going. But if you are looking for a particular brand/caliber then the selection is not good. Last show YG had CCI Blazer and Federal American Red Box .22LR for $18.95 per brick. They also had Federal American Red Box 9mm, .40 and bulk packed .45 on sale. When I was at their table the 9mm and .45 was flying out the door. The .223/5/56 bulk military ball was selling well. I suggest if you are interested in buying ammo at the show that you check the 2 or 3 major players first and buy everything you need Saturday morning as YG was running out by noon/early afternoon. Some ammo they said they had more of and was going to bring on Sunday. Other calibers they said they brought all they had.

Guess I am kinda spoiled cuz when I lived in SoCal there were usually 10+ vendors with 10+ tables each of numerous brands and calibers of ammo. Unless you shoot something unusual you would be able to find just about any caliber and brand at a sale price.

I went to the gunshow this a.m. looking for primers and 7.62 X 54R military surplus ammo for my mosin. I saw two tables selling pistol primers but they weren't what I was looking for. I didn't see any military surplus at all. I left with an ammo can and disappointment.

I thought this gun show was better than the last one at the beginnig of the year (so long as you werent trying to buy any guns).  Pick up a few large cans of ballistol, cr123s, and some maxpedition stuff all for under $40.  Picked up a few surplus first aid kits with molle pouches for a good price too. Lot more knives this year, ok prices.

Not that many ppl there at 10. HUGE rush around 11:30.  All in all, a decent event for 6 months of waiting.

Went this morning and while I found a few good deals it was lacking in selection of guns IMHO. There was no 10/22 stuff or guns that I could find. Got a good deal on some .22 and .357 ammo. I reload .357 but the price was so good i couldnt pass it up. Found primers at an ok price. But decided not to buy them. I can wait until the next bulk purchase.  I noticed a lot more reloading supplies for sale this show. Especially bullets and cases. Decent prices on some stuff there.

I too left with ballistol, cr123s and disappointment. As far as firearms go it was a let down. Dexter and Brian probably had the best table as far as diversity and selection. But hey, if your looking for Swiss army knife and leatherman knockoffs, ammo cans, and paracord your in heaven. All kidding aside I appreciate the effort, after all A gun show is better than NO gun show.

Exactly. I try to think of the gun show as more of a "tactical accessories show". That way I'm never really disappointed.

Speaking of which, did you pick up the 10 cr123s for $20 at the Fenix table?  Hell of a deal in my opinion.

Some Ballistol, 7.62 and .40 ammo here. Oh yeah, my daughter got some of the paracord stuff, that's about it.

I was looking for AK furniture, and maybe a deal on a 10/ 22 or another 9mm, but was a bust. To be honest , I didn't need any of the stuff I bought, but had to justify my time with something.

As already mentioned, better than nothing...

got some 22lr, small pistol primers, and some cheap camo bushwhackin' pants. The 12 gauge federal 00 in the ammo can for $99 was tempting. It's funny cause the sale prices here are like normal prices in the other states.

Man, I really want (NEED) that 16" barrel DAS FAL that was Diamond Head side middle near the food kiosk that was going for $1000...

I don't have $1000 to spend and I don't know much about FAL's but I want one.... I gotta rehearse "Heh bro nice FAL..would you take $700?"

I hope it's there tomorrow.......at the same time, I hope it's not..... :(

I ended up with:

-12 gauge federal 00 in the ammo can for $99 (should have gotten 1 more)
-100rds 308
-and 5 20lr pmags from OGC  after the show w/ $5 off by showing my ticket stub.

Good day today

When's the next show?
Title: Re: GUN SHOW! OCT 6-7 2012

I sold 4 rifles, 1 handgun, 2 Randall knives, a couple of bayonets, a case of MRE's, AR magazines and a lot of smaller stuff today.   Most of that stuff was gone by noon.   Unfortunately, I don't have very many other guns I want to sell, so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear that a number of people considered the show a bust, but tables are available to anyone so go right ahead and buy a table for next year and sell a ton of $100 10/22's, $300 AK's, $500 Garands, $300 1911's or whatever you've got--you'll find plenty of takers.  What's that you say, you don't want to sell your mint-condition boxed 6.5" barreled S & W .44 Magnum?  Well duh, that's why you won't find many at the gun show (I've sold 2 nickeled 8.375" M-29's with the hardwood box over the past few years, but if I find another one I may just keep it).

On the other hand, I have seen the same old scopes, rifles or pistols on the same guys' tables for years and nothing gets sold.  They don't seem to care if they sell anything or not, and most of the time they're talking story with their pals. some of whom they only see every 6 months.  Whatever, it's a free country, move on to the next table.

X ring was busting ass today--they were constantly busy (or so it seems on the few times I was able to get away from my table).  So was SEC--they were blowing out cases of 5.56.   Other tables had good deals of firearms, the fact that I had no personal interest in owning them didn't detract from the fact that there were some good deals out there.

Come on and check it out tomorrow--you never know what you might find!

Yeah I did, it was a great deal. I'm a die hard surefire guy but Fenix having their own table was pretty cool. The ballistol table was pretty cool as well.

Saw a great deal on a Kowa TSN 821 w/ eyepiece for $400. I only found out that it was $400 after a fellow HP shooter bought it! I was eyeing for a awhile but considering how much everyone else wanted $$$ for their stuff I never bothered to ask for the price. Saw a complete A2 stock (no name brand) for $40 and second time around it was gone. YG had an OK deal on on Fed Match primers for $35...all pistol was gone at the end of day on Sat.

Went to the gun show yesterday too. Bought

Para cord 2 bunches $6 for 50 feet
Sling swivels $5
100 rounds of 308 federal gold medal $23 a box
Black Hawaii flag Velcro patch $10

Just got done weaving a sling for my Remington 700. Made it 42" it feels perfect. I seen a table had a weaved para cord sling for $45 I think 100yeards of cord looked kinda junk and it was too long.

I also seen dejou and Linda lingle. Still don't know who to vote for.

All in all was not bad the gun show. They should put up a stage and do demonstrations of some sort or maybe best rifle, hand gun, shotgun, etc. maybe get hawaii's military to come out and show off some sniper rifles & berret 50 cal. Maybe HPD can show off there swat team. The zombie action was cool too. Aloha peeps  :shaka:

Sorry--I was out early hunting down any deals--small kine stuff early today, then somebody brought in dozens of boxes of ammo--shotgun pistol rifle--for $5-$10 bucks each!  Missed out on .357 and .45s, but I scored 15 boxes of 30-06 and 500 rounds of .38 spl cheap!

My table was next to Karl Zakabi, knifemaker.  He had the stingray skin on his table, along with the bottle cap lifters made from diamond-plate.

Next show I'll post my table number before the show.

Sold a revolver, a Randall knife and some ammo today--the Randall sold for more than the gun!  Love the gun show!

I saw what appeared to be a pretty nice S & W Model 10 for sale.  The MIM parts made me look closer at the gun because it seemed a lot older (read scuffed up) than it was.  That's when I noticed that the barrel was ringed.  The guy tried to pass it off by saying that the gun shot OK for him, no problems.  I wonder if he passed on the info to a potential buyer or if he just put the gun away--it wasn't on his table an hour later.

Just goes to show that you should always always always check out any weapon thoroughly before purchasing.

Did anyone on this forum buy this revolver?

I saw what appeared to be a pretty nice S & W Model 10 for sale.  The MIM parts made me look closer at the gun because it seemed a lot older (read scuffed up) than it was.  That's when I noticed that the barrel was ringed.  The guy tried to pass it off by saying that the gun shot OK for him, no problems.  I wonder if he passed on the info to a potential buyer or if he just put the gun away--it wasn't on his table an hour later.

Not me. But there was a guy trying to pass an Armscorp M14 as the real deal govt issue. I heard a few tall tales regarding gear and guns - glass being one of them. There is no way that Ospreys are close to Leupys, NFs or S&Bs. NFs and S&Bs have the best edge to edge clarity I've seen so far.

We had a lot of fun thanks to everyone. The zombie shooting gallery was a bust but live and learn. The guns overheated which lead to delays. It was thier first time abusing airsoft guns but the did allow everyone to shoot 260 rounds each. That was double of what we anticipated. Next show they will be better prepared. Thanks to all the forum members that came by and helped us cleanup. It was a big help. We gave out over a thouand flyers with the 2AHAWAII.COM on the back. Maybe we might get more members.

Replenished my .22LR ammo can with some CCI standard from SEC, Federal Champion and American Eagle from YG, all nice deals.

I was very tempted by the ammo can of 12 ga. slugs, but instead came across some cheap .357 mag.

Got some Ballistol and cr123's from the Fenix guys, like the rest of you apparently! haha

Boar hair gunsmith brush, and patches from Mojo (couldn't help myself!)

Great show.

Not sure if it was the same one you looked at it? The one I looked at I didn't note the barrel being ringed. Just thought something didn't look/feel right. So I passed on it. I always trust my gut instinct.

I heard alot of the same stories.....WTF

It's like hearing at the car dealer; " This Yugo will do everything that Ferrari will do".... yeah they both drive, that's about it.

To each his own and Ospreys have a market, but no dealer should ever "honestly" compare Night Force, etc to an Osprey.

Dexter thanks for volunteering to help out with the next show and thanks for asking for our input.  You might be able to get more coverage in a new thread.  Anywhos
I think the idea with a stage to do demonstrations, promotions, etc, etc, would be good and the vendors could sign up for time slots
I think more food vendors would be good, or more places to sit down and plan for whats next
More vendors, though i dont know how that would be accomplished
Maybe hpd can do some demonstrations and show how awesome they are and will be there when you call 911
Too bad we cant have a actual shooting range section.  Maybe even short shooting classes or something

Definitely worth it!!!  May seem a bit expensive, but it works much better than the $100+ electronic ear mufffs and it does not get in the way when you are shooting rilfe.

Just bought a pair this show. Waiting for them to come in the mail. I am currently working in a 100db to 120db environment and I need something because those foamies are not cutting it.

Overall great show, I got a repalica 1918 trench knife and a rucksack.  I had fun seeing guns that I would only see in books or on tv, there was a trench gun (USGI shotgun) for sale.  Only if I had the money....

Yes, they work very well. My gf's ears are really sensitive so she used to use the cheapo earplugs with earmuffs and even that didn't cut it for some of the larger calibers. Now she uses those custom molded ones and has no problems.

Also, YG jacked up the prices on the .22 federal blue box?  I got some for $14....

i look forward to trying them.

The $14 boxes of Federal blue box were water damaged boxes. Ammo is ok box just not perfect.

I flew to Maui to get them last year.  I ended up losing them because I prefer foamies more than the custom molded ones.

Were SEC and YG the only ones that sold more common caliber? WGS also sold ammo, but I don'y own those calibers.

Flew over from the Big Island had a nice time talking with a few friends from Oahu, checking out the military guns and picked up some Silver Bear ammo for my mini-30.  Was nice to see all of the people out and about.
