Transitory my ass!
Back in the Gulf war days oil was under $40 per barrel.
I paid $0.92 per gallon for fuel.
Today the price per barrel is a little over $70 per barrel
my gas is over $4 per gallon.
Don't give me that BS about Hawaii being isolated,  as I understand it we
get our oil from Russia and Indonesia, same price per barrel
and lower transportation costs than the mainland.
I can give example, after example, after example.
The problem is the Democrat dominated government in the USA
and locally, the Tyrannical government that Hawaiian citizens tolerate.
That is the problem. Let a Democrat take over and run a prosperous
state and it turns into a Zimbabwe, Venezuela, or a Cuba.
Rant off. :grrr:

I have panels and can't afford an EV.  I'd go with a horse or mule first.
About "chill out", I'd rather try to figure out ways to deprive the
government of money. ;D

If the US imperial chicken hawks have their WWIII, that will be the standard mode of transportation for the survivors of that war.

The power okole will just print what they need, and tax you to pay it back.

The problem is the illegal occupation of Hawaii, by the US empire, that artificially creates a middleman leading to the higher cost of living, for everyone living in Hawaii.  As I have always stated, a restoration of the Hawaiian nation state that could deal directly with the global suppliers, of what people in Hawaii need, would result in lower costs for almost everything.

You "Assume" that the restored government would be better than the Hawaiian Democrat
one we have now.  I don't think that will be the case.
You would have to destroy what the residents of Hawaii have built over the last many decades.

You hit the nail on the head! When I was younger I was all about Hawaiian sovereignty. I even had my wife choose Keanu Sai’s online UH class as her elective and I basically did the class for her.

The cold hard truth is that this place would be ten times worse then it is now under a constitutional monarch. The same corrupt politicians that run this place would run the Hawaiian kingdom because the same people (voters) who allow the “fake state” to steal and completely disregard the constitution would allow them to do it in the Hawaiian kingdom. You’d be a different country in name only except atleast under the US we have the Supreme Court which sometimes gets it right.

Well I have no dog in this fight, and I do think nation in a nation is a legit proposition for natives.

That said go visit Guam and ask them about what happened during the Japanese occupation of WW2. Let's just say your average Chamorro is pretty damn happy to be under the skirt of Miss America now.

Remember; only those who can trace their lineage to the decedents of the Hawaiian Kingdom / Republic of Hawaii would have full citizenship and voting rights.  Yes, there are Hawaiian nationals today, who tend to be democrat leaning, but their are many who are more akin to republican values as well.

You’d be a different country in name only except at least under the US we have the Supreme Court which sometimes gets it right.
You mean the same gutless and corrupt Supreme Court that refused to settle straightforward matters regarding the 2nd Amendment and reaffirmed corporations as having the same rights of living people, which have only worked to solidify the control, of the US empire's power okole, the ultrawealthy?

No American patriot, for that matter, should put any faith in that body of government.  They have become the legal tools, of the US empire, and not its people.

The US empire is collapsing from within, for the many reasons you and almost everyone on this forum are familiar.

Hawaiians such as myself, know the challenge is to quickly reassert its international sovereignty, once the collapse begins, in order to restore normalcy and prevent SHTF chaos that will also occur, to the other former states, of the US empire, if they do not prepare similar contingencies.

This requires reestablishing the trade treaties the Hawaiian nation had prior to its illegal annexation, by the US empire; thereby, hopefully achieving a continuity of economic and financial commerce as well as food security, all for survival.

I am confused, I thought the 2nd greatest achievement the Hawaiian culture (first being the navigation to find this place) was their excellent system of resource management when it came to feeding  themselves by their own means? Irrigation for taro, buidling fish ponds, deep sea fishing, rationing, and the kapu system dictating  who got to eat what. Why would you import food?

I am a Hawaiian nationalist, but one who lives in the 21st century.

I love all kinds of food, but am a lazy guy, who loves technological progress.  The days slaving in the taro patch and fishing all-day are reserved for those Hawaiians, who believe in their version, of a pre-contact lifestyle.  Strangely held beliefs since the Kapu system was abolished as well as the establishment of Christianity, among Hawaiians, were all decreed, during the Kingdom era.

I know some folks who bought property on the big island and went back to traditional Hawaiian subsistance living 30 yrs ago, they are really happy. Big upside of doing that is the health benefits of going back to the diet of your genetic memory. Also being off the grid and living old school made  them give zero Fs about politics and government, it doesn't really touch their lives much.

Travel to some other parts of the Pacific and you will quickly get an idea for what is the most likely future of Hawaii without empire money pouring in. Except we neglected most of our natural resources, polluted the rest, and a big chunk of our highest value tourist property and infrastructure is going under water. The best case scenario would be something like Fiji, which is still very poor compared with our standards.  On the other hand they will manage to eat relatively well during the coming shortages while we murder each other over ketchup packets.

No one would make a favorable trade agreement to a tiny island. Negotiation wise you would be with less leverage.  Treaties too.  China would take over this island quick.  Lend a bunch of money and start influencing just like Africa. Then again you would love that.

There are many examples of this phenomenon in worms and mice, but the study of environmental epigenetic inheritance in humans is a hotly debated topic, and there's still a lot we don't know.

"Inherited effects in humans are difficult to measure due to the long generation times and difficulty with accurate record keeping," stated one recent review of epigenetic inheritance.

The conditions you state were present, if not worse, during the age of empires, in the 19th century, and yet the Hawaiian Kingdom, due to its skillful use of diplomacy was able to economically thrive through its trade treaties it enacted with the imperial powers, of its era.

That is, until the US imperialists, not American patriots, hijacked their nation's foreign policy and orchestrated Hawaii's eventual illegal occupation.

There are many island nations that have been able to thrive, despite their island's geographical constraints.

Not all of them will achieve the success of the UK, for example, but favorable outcomes are indeed possible.

All the more reasons, I have said the US empire needs to begin a program of downsizing.

Internationally, purposely reducing its military forces geared for global projection to that of border projection would go a long way to free up funds for domestic purposes.

Domestically, let all states as well as legally/illegally held territories choose to go their own independent way, while those states, who wish to remain, establish the 2nd American Republic.  This is not to say that the reconstituted 2nd American Republic could not form another confederation with the other former states, of the 1st American Republic, who decided to be independent nations, of their own.

Confederation-based nation states are actually not bad at all and can be advantageous, given the unreconciled differences that exist, between the current states and its own residents, within the US empire.

Check them out.

HI people grumble for decades about not being able to gamble here.   A bill is finally presented and HI people say no need gambling.

Pakalolo bill also died.  Not like HI needs multiple sources of revenue right?  CO legalized MJ and the taxes from it was supposed to go toward the schools. In a few years, all the schools updated to where they need to be and they had excess money to spend.  Last I heard they were spending it on the homeless.

This is the mentality of most of HI and why HI will continue to get worst.

That's what comments have been leaning toward for years on FB news pages, that people want gambling.  But the comments on the gambling bill were mostly negative this time.  So either FB is editing comments or the attitude changed.

That's what comments have been leaning toward for years on FB news pages, that people want gambling.  But the comments on the gambling bill were mostly negative this time.  So either FB is editing comments or the attitude changed.

I have a dollar that says most of the people posting on FB against legalizing gambling are either too young to gamble in a casino, or they live on one of the islands that would become a gambling destination -- they don't want to be the place all the "degenerates" from Oahu, the mainland, and other countries travel just to gamble.

I'd imagine many of those opinions were fed to them by teachers -- unionized workers who support the opinions of the politicians their union supports.

Solution to lower the impact of gambling on neighborhoods was to have Cruise Ships do it inside Hawaiian waters. If the State WAS smart they would own the boats and hire Vegas to run the day 2 day action.

I thought the Jones Act prevented that for a majority of cruise ships.  The ship's hull would have to have been manufactured in the US to avoid the restrictions that require it to dock in a foreign port after docking in a US port.

The obvious solution would be a Sovereign Hawaiian Nation with its own dock. Kuleana can man the gangplank

Set up a gambling area on kahoolawe,  half the gamble is not to find military ordinance.  I would fully support lanai becoming a new gambling area,  right now its mostly private owned and resort area.

Nice of you to volunteer to donate OTHER PEOPLE'S LAND where YOU DO NOT LIVE.

That's so .... Socialist of you!

Please show me where I said to donate land.

Or perhaps I was saying make it legal to do so in certain areas....which are either government or private owned.  Unless you think Lanai's owner would decline a casino opportunity.

Apparently kids in school don't learn about land designations and federal historical registries anymore.

I said YOU are donating land you don't own.  It's so easy to give away other people's property, even if they are given a reasonable price for it.

It's not your property, so to suggest that others should sell it is pure Socialism.

Stay in your own lane.  You can't even afford an EV, but here you are recommending what people owning potentially millions of dollars worth of real estate should do.

Just stop.

I'm not donating land bro. Never did it,  never said it,  never ment it,  not even close.   Legalizing something on land isn't donating, not even close.   If I suggest legalizing pot am I saying to donate all land on the island?  If they legalize it on lanai he doesn't have to do anything about it.

Lol no.   You stay in your lane/land too get facts correct first.

Tell me you aren't suggesting "private owned and resort area" real estate (which someone other than you owns) be converted to casinos.

Or was that sarcasm?

Nope I fully support it becoming.   Did I say force? Steal the land?  Or anything like that?

I fully support legalization of pot.  Does the mean I want to force everyone to get high?

Just listen to the lyrics.
Explains a lot.

They tore down the Fujimura store….

They built Mililani Town
On top all that nice pineapple ground….

Imagine a city all the way,
from Kaena all the way to Iwilei….

They said they going build one shopping complex,
I wonder what they goin’ broke down nex’

And this is 1977 original Home Grown album.

Side note, If we legalize pot will we need to grow more food ?
