Heard word today that Hilo will have an indoor range and sales etc opening around the end of November. Sounds like it'll be pretty high tech. I believe it'll be called White Shark Arms. They have a website up, but doesn't say much about the range yet. Awesome that the east side will have another place to shoot, and right in Hilo no less. Sounds like they'll have lots or rental guns too, which is certainly awesome for testing potential purchases.

Did you hear anything from anyone else? Does not say much about range or store on the site. Still cool though! :shaka:
-
Yeah I talked to the owner or manager or something like that, so seemed like legit info.
-
They have a facebook page and it referred to a couple of anouncements but I didn't see the announcements. Probably what you heard just not on FB yet. Hope it is true! ;)
-
At the new store?
-
I believe they said it'll be on Holomua where the food bank is now.
-
If they're smart, they'll be catering to Japanese tourists. The local folks don't have all that much money.....
-
I don't know about that.....all these new gun shops popping up in Hilo and it seems like they are moving stuff pretty good......I think the local people were startving and now the buffet is open ;)
-
I did hear form one person a couple weeks(s?) too that there was another store opening up too. I didn't hear about the indoor range though.
UPDATE! The person that is supposed to open up this store was arrested for firing off shots in his backyard a couple days ago. . - reckless endangerment?
-
Not good. Saw some photos on the facebook page and couldn't tell where they were taken. Looks like they were taken in the backyard then.... not good.

It says its in keau..I lived in Puna...you figure shooting is normal in that area. Where I was in puna had a domestic shooting down the road took HPD 30 min to respond they has 5 officers on duty that night from Keau to the lava tubes

Hilo once had four gun shops, but none of them were making any money (which is why 3 closed and the fourth moved to an out of the way place with way cheaper rent).
Shooting on Ag land (which is the default zoning for those parts of the Big Island that are privately owned) is legal as long as the bullets don't leave your property.

Sweet! Back up to 4 gun shops so hope there is enough for all of them!!!

I got back with the original guy who told me about a new gun shop opening up in Hilo. I did tell him what happened about a guy being arrested shooting in his back yard ( Hawaiian Acres?) but he said it might not be the same guy since the guy he was talking about wants to open up a shop near the old Munch En Lau (?) So... one more shop opening up in Hilo?
-
Hope the indoor range is part of the shop. I bet more people would get into shooting handguns if there were such a place to do it (indoors I mean).

Just noticed that there is now a "RANGE" tab added on the site www.whitesharkarms.com (http://www.whitesharkarms.com). Looks like it was posted yesterday. Small blurb re the indoor range. Looks interesting.
