I've shot a few HPs here and there, and was always casually interested in them.  I ended up going with a CZ75 that scratched the itch for that general type of gun.

There were some sales on HP a while back, but never jumped on it.

I have have an FN Hi-Power made in Belgium. I think it is called the Sport Model. It has what they call the “Beer Can” adjustable rear sight. The finish on it is very nice. I think it is from the late 70’s or early 80’s. It was my father’s pistol. He left it to my nephew and I bought it from my nephew. When I got it, it had the magazine disconnect safety feature. This caused two issues. One is the magazines don’t fall free when the magazine release is pressed. And the trigger was absolutely horrendous. Since I hate magazine disconnect safety’s I decided to remove it. And boy am I glad I did. Not only does the magazine fall free now but now the trigger is tremendous! I was going to take it to my gunsmith to have him work on it but now that the trigger is terrific I am not going to. It shoots very well tho I need to practice with it more. Also, I need to see if it is reliable with HP ammo as it is still from that era where ball ammo was recommended.

I think there were a bunch of Israeli Hi-Powers that were recently imported and I missed out on them when they were available.

Your CZ75 is a terrific pistol. I wish I had one.

A buddy in Houston picked up a surplus one and he restored it.  He is a hobby-level gunsmith and gun restorer.  He's pretty good at it.  Anyways, I was tempted.  I like guns with history like the HP.

Yeah, I love the CZ.  It's a Shadow II, but I would've been ok with a basic one.  They came out with a commie version.  I thought that was pretty cool actually.
