Title: Muzzle Brakes
Post by: kala201 on September 18, 2012, 02:47:17 PM
I am looking at upgrading the muzzle brake on my Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle.  I have narrowed it down to the Battlecomp BACB and the PWS FSC30.  I have a PWS muzzle brakeon my M4 which I really like.  The only downside is the increase blast that people around me feel.  I heard that the Battlecomp has the same issue.  My question is does anyone of you have any personal experience with the Battlecomp muzzle brakes?  Price wise I see that the Battlecomp ones are easily more than double a PWS one.  Do you get more for the money?  ???

I hate the PWS Brake.  I throw shells at people who shoot it next to me!

The Battlecomp BACB is not bad.

That's inherent in the design of a muzzle brake.  The force has to to somewhere.

The ones I design have little blast out the sides. and they have no or almost no recoil.

I have a BC 1.0 for my BCM middy. I've shot my friend's Colt 6920 with the PWS FSC 5.56, but not in a side-by-side.

At first, I thought the BC wasn't that much louder than an A2.  But if you are to either side of the gun, it's noticeably louder.  I don't think it's as loud as the PWS, but that's subjective.

Last time i went to the range i was next to a guy who was bragging about having a pws brake. And how loud it was. I had my friends AR 762x39 with me with a PWS brake.  I waited for him to shoot off a couple of rounds. Everytime he did i yelled "SH*T". And he just giggled.   He did about 5 shots just to to hear me yell everytime.   He was on the right of me. When the guy on the left to me left his bench. I picked of the Ar762x39 and squeezed off 5 shots. He jumped out of seat and yelled sh*t thats loud!  i just laughed.   Came overmlater to find out why mine was louder than his. Hehehehe

Never been bothered by a brake...............but then again, my hearing isn't the greatest.  Been thinking of putting a brake on my PTR 91, probably go with IGF rather than PWS due to cost.

I've got rifles with the PWS, BattleComp, and Surefire muzzle brakes on them.  I think the best performance is pretty close between the BC and SF brakes.  I think the PWS is good, but feel the other two are better.  Of the SF and the BC I think the SF is tad better in that it pushes slightly less.  Supposedly the BC is supposed to hide flash better although I've never had the opportunity to test them.

Finally with all due respect to Speed, all muzzle brakes are going to have some serious side concussion...........the gases have to go somewhere.

Do you have one with a 15x1 RH thread for a hk/ptr 91 and 9/16x24 LH for a stg fal?

I can do those threads.  but we would have to custom design something so it matches
the style of the gun
