The big news in the 2A front was the SCOTUS hearing on New York Rifle & Pistol Association v. Corlett, which is about Carry Conceal. As we all know, any ruling that happens at the SCOTUS level will impact all laws in all 50 states and the DC.
So, lets assume the case goes pro 2A and Hawaii turns into a "Shall Issue" for carry conceal. What will you do to celebrate this victory?
I will start it off:
1. Write in the this Forum. "LETS GO BRANDON" with a subject of "2A Carry Conceal Constitutional"
2. Walk in the next business day and apply for a permit with the reason of "IT IS MY CONSTITUIONAL RIGHT TO CARRY CONCEAL SO LETS GO BRANDON"
3. Submit a permit to purchase a new gun. SA Hellcat Micro, HK P30SK or SW Shield.
4. Carry it for about a week then put it away because really I have no desire to carry conceal every day. However, the option is there when I think it is necessary to be armed, This is what I want, the right to choose the time and place to protect myself and family. Sorry but other people doesn't fit in my equation for protection. I'm not a police office or a super hero. So make sure you are armed because if I can escape with myself and family without shooting, I'm out of there.

I'm going to look for the most comfy setup I can find that works with tshirt and boardshorts
-
i own no firearms, ammo, nor holsters...
-
wtb 20" 500 magnum
-
I'm just gonna buy a pocket holster for my P365 and stick it in my front pants pocket.
I mean, after I get the CCW of course.
-

whats a firearm, ammo or holster?
-
Make no references to "Brandon". Just go apply for CCW.
-
Responding to the "I'll carry when I feel I need to..."
It's called "Everyday Carry" for a reason. Trouble chooses the time and place -- not you. When you need a firearm, it'll probably be when and where you least expect to need it.
When asked, "Why do you feel the need to carry a firearm? What are you afraid of?", my reply is, "For the things that I can't foresee or predict. If I knew in advance where and when I will need a firearm, I could just avoid those places. Problem solved! Life's not like that."
***
"I don't need to carry my pistol today. I'm just going to work then straight home."
"Hey, Warren. Did you see the new Xerox copiers? Um, what's up with the gun?"
-
I hope you were being a comedian with writing "Let's Go, Brandon" on the application.
One of the things the police will ALWAYS have is the power to deny a carry permit to anyone they deem to be of low or untrustworthy character. If they know you are the town bully, having had multiple complaints filed against your for threatening people and damaging property, HPD has a duty to make sure you can be trusted with a firearm carried on your person.
Making political or disparaging remarks on your official application may not be received as "funny."

Ah but that is the whole thing about constitutional carry. The state has to prove unworthiness to deny a right which would probable be at the level of denying a citizens right to bear arms. It has already been adjugated that disparaging remarks against a public official is a protected 1st Amendment right. So as long as it doesn't say "Lets Kill Brandon", giving a finger, talking, or writing openly against our leaders would not rise to a level of denial of a Right. However, the state will try and will hope that the citizens will not fight back because of the large legal fees that would be incurred. That is how the State will flex it's anti gun right laws, by breaking the bank of the disenfranchised citizen. (I read somewhere that a lawsuit that goes from local to SCOTUS can cost upwards to $1 million. I got money but not like that.)
-
A lot of our discussions are just speculations but all of us know how our leaders in Hawaii feel about the 2nd amendment so we all can see that the speculations are pretty accurate as to what may come about in the near future.
That's why sometimes I get so frustrated that I let the dark side get the best of me and I start wishing Hawaii undergoes a period of mass social unrest and lawlessness. Something like a Katrina type of disaster where law and order is temporarily non-existent.
I sometimes think a Katrina type of disaster will wake a lot of people up about self-protection. Those who think HPD will be there when they need them are delusional. When the SHTF everyone will be out for themselves and their families. HPD will be no different.
It was only a year or so ago when Hawaii and the nation experienced a panic in firearm purchases and ammunition purchases. All of a sudden complacent ainokea types and anti-gunner types wanted a firearm for protection.
All it takes is a SHTF scenario to wake everybody up.
A SHTF scenario is a very possible reality. We already have a big piece of sh*t in the White House and he has been hitting the fan so much there is crap everywhere.
Sorry I digress. Anyway, soon everyone should apply for CCW. Don't forget! :stopjack:
-
I carry every day. Depending on where I am going and what I will be doing will determine whether I OWB, IWB or pocket carry.
For instance, if I am working around my house and making trips to Home Depot I OWB carry. No need to conceal. If I am going to a restaurant or a business that might complain if they see a pistol then I IWB carry or pocket carry. I have to say that pocket carry is much more comfy to carry even over IWB carry. Tho the pocket gun is using a cartridge smaller than 9mm Luger.

I would like to have at least a few options. a few of those options will be revolvers, of course. :shaka:
I could probably use my LCR with almost any clothing I'm wearing bc its small, and I have a couple carry options for it
fits in my pocket, prints smaller than my wallet. J frame is good too for a small revolver

The above is right, it's called EDC for a reason. BJ Baldwin didn't carry daily, until he was involved in a road rage incident that the other guy took out a bat. Luckily, he was able to drive away. He was just going down the street for milk. Since that event, he carried daily. Which saved his life. And now I'll bet his gf Top Gun Tori will carry daily too. She wasn't armed at the time. And NV has permit less open carry and shall issue CCW which is very easy to obtain.

I have 2 K Frames (Model 10 in 38 and Model 547 in 9mm) and I have an SP-101 in 9mm. I have a IWB/OWB holster (Simply Rugged) that all 3 fit into. The holster when I wear it OWB tucks the gun up tight enough that I wear an unbuttoned flannel shirt over it and I am very concealed. Even better of course if I wear it IWB. But wearing OWB is much more comfy. So I keep my Model 10 in my rotation of EDC. I will eventually add the SP-101 into the rotation. I probably won’t use the Model 547 in my rotation as it has some wear on the finish from when my father owned it. I don’t want to add to the wear since it has some sentimental value to me and it has some collector value as well.

All
I think we all have our ideas! For me, i will just apply and not throw anything in anyones face. We all got to be nice to the officers working and enforcing laws they might or might not agree with. Respect is shown more when respect is given.
I myself already have my "EDC" and is ready once the climate changes. Unfornately i choose to live in our "restrictive" state. The SAD part is i might be now a PT resident of California.
Aloha and Take care Fellow Brothers and Sisters....

I wanted a LCR and ended up trading for S&W bodyguard in 38 spcl. With a friend. Traded a 9 mm Shield.
Double action safe and disappears into side pocket of cargo shorts. Looks like my wallet or cell phone.
If I’m gonna carry I feel more confident with a hammerless double action only revolver.
Trade off, only 5 shots though.
And I’m not very accurate with it at 25 yards.
-
My NV CCW instructor who's in his 60's carries a 38 snub nose in his front pocket. heads
I carry a VP9 AIWB when in a casino. And when going to a friends house or staying off strip for most of the day, at the 4-5 oclock. Reason is I lean forward when gambling and if I carry at the 4-5 position, it prints a lot.
Plus when walking on the strip, often it was shoulder to shoulder (precovid), and it's easier to keep control with the VP9 in front of me, vs on my hip.
Each position has it's pro's and cons. The size doesn't bother me because it's only for a week. So no big deal. But if I were to EDC a handgun daily, I would get something a little smaller.
If Young wins, I would also open carry the same way, but maybe a smaller gun still. I don't want someone getting nosey by seeing the gun on my hip for open carry. This way only the person directly facing me can see that I'm armed.

i like the DAO hammerless configuration for pocket carry as well.
old school conceal carry. I also got the old school FBI loads: 38sp+p LSWC :shaka:
but probably will use better JHP that expand and work better
-
If I was going up against a cracked out uso it would be .357 snubbie, but I think these days we are more likely to encounter criminals with 3D printed high cap mags so I’m more inclined towards a slim semi auto. Snubbie definitely has the cool factor, though.
-
Open carry would be nice in the sense that sometimes having to hide something can be tedious and annoying. But personally I feel it defeats the purpose but should absolutely be a right just as conceal carry should be. I’d only carry concealed because I wouldn’t want to attract too much attention to myself, but that’s my thought on it. Would probably carry full size concealed as a truck gun and compact for traveling, and full size on my person when traveling in familiar areas
-
for open carry, I would consider my S&W 627 snub nose 8 shot 357. moon clips make it a little easier to reload, but its too big for me to conceal, so open carry only for this gun for me
my G19 wouldn't be a bad choice either
-
I would carry a Colt peacemaker buntline special 45 colt with a 14” barrel, front carry concealed. Good for self protection and the ladies would be in awe!  :D >:D
-
Of course bigger is always better.
You think anyone would notice?

I'm just gonna buy a pocket holster for my P365 and stick it in my front pants pocket.
Is the P365 the best 9mm cc weapon? Then farsighted thinkers should get one now, before the big rush. The XL Spectre models with a Romeo Zero RDS are currently selling for over $1100. How can someone afford that on a McDonald cashier's salary? Need to be a dentist. I was told by a range officer at KHSC that Glocks are considered to be spray & pray weapons, the last thing you need in a crowded public area.

There is no "best ccw" gun. Its the indian, not the arrow. Same goes for spray n pray.
In the end, it comes down to what features you prefer. Luckily, HI removes 1 variable, cant exceed 10rd mag.

Is the P365 small enough for pocket carry? I have shot my nephew’s and I have been looking at the P365 XL for IWB carry. And for me the P365 is just a little too big for pocket carry.
I have a Ruger LCP Max for pocket carry and it is just barely small enough for me. Anything much bigger and it would print too much and the butt would stick out and be visible from my pocket.
Not saying you can’t or that your conditions are not different from mine. It is just my experience has been the P365 is a little too big for me for pocket carry. Let me know what type of pocket holster you end up with. I find the soft nylon ones are very comfortable.

I happen to have shot the P365, Hellcat, Taurus Nano, and the Glock in this size category. While I liked the Glock because I am used to the trigger, the P365 is for me the better of the 4 pistols. Some of the gun writers I follow mostly have the Hellcat. So I think it is really more of a personal choice. But for me the P365 was softer shooting and had a better trigger of the three. I am interested in getting the P365 XL as it has a slightly longer slide/barrel and buttstock. It also shoots even softer than the smaller P365. With my arthritis this helps a lot. It also has better sights. When I finally do get one I still need to find a good IWB holster for it.

Thankful for that. Luckily the criminals follow the laws and would never have more than 10 round mags. That would be a crime.

Anyone shot the new S&W M&P Shield Plus? Same as the regular Shield but upped capacity?

I actually went to the LGS intent on buying a Ruger LCP in 380 caliber. After trying out the other micro guns I settled for the P365. I still might buy the LCP in the future, lol!
Yes, the P365 does print a little but I've found that I'm able to pocket the whole gun without the butt sticking out. If you look really really hard you can make out the butt printing a little even though it is fully enclosed in my front pocket.
I'm still looking at all the offerings for pocket holsters but I'm swaying toward this item that touts as being a pocket holster but it essentially is just a trigger cover that safely encloses that area. I think the downside is after drawing the weapon you have an extra step where you have to snap off this cover. With practice it would take micro-seconds, similar to an Israeli draw. I could be wrong, gotta look into it more. :shaka:

I have a manual safety on my p365. Would be go to carry. Not sure what method I will do. With all the safety measures nowdays criminals don't even use holsters.

If you have a chance, check out the LCP Max. It has much better sights than the LCP and of course it comes with one mag that has 10+1 capacity and with extra mags you can get 12+1 capacity. For me it is very controllable and very comfortable in my pocket. I am using the holster that came with my LCP Max. It means I have to slightly change my draw to make sure the holster stays in my pocket when I draw. But it doesn’t take any extra time or steps, just an adjustment. For me pocket carry is all about comfort. So for me the smaller the better. I am really interested in seeing the holster you are talking about.

For a carry conceal, 10rds is fine for me because I’m going small, light gun. If it was open carry, then I would go full size, and 10rds is not enough.

A shooting buddy has a full sized Staccato. He loves it. 1911 or 2011 wouldn't be anywhere near my first choice for CC, but I've been told by many that the profile of the 1911 does conceal well, at least for some body types/folks.
Would make my pants hand low(er). ;D

There's a least two KHSC ROs (I think I saw at least one of them last time I was at the range) that can so that from concealment in <2 seconds. Probably pushing 1s when they train a lot.
Then there's some here who can probably get off the 2 shots in that time, but would be nut shots or the attacker's right leg

My 1st time CCWing, I was looking at every mirror that I passed to see if I was printing (AIWB). By the 4th day in, I stopped because knew I wasn't printing.
Also lost like $3K that trip, and justified it by saying it was the price to pay to exercise my freedom.

I'll find a female ringer at KHSC who can outshoot us all at the CMP match on Sunday. ::)
I cannot disclose the name of the RSO since he communicated this information about the Glocks in a private conversation. At the time he was also making fun (in passing, based on my observation) of a shooter at the Silhouette range using a pistol with one hand, targeting one of the medium sized targets at 50 yds. I was impressed by the fact that he was hitting at a 50% rate, while my score would have been much lower, even with two hands. I need to find a 30 inch metal plate that is friendly to my shaky aim. And, please put it at the 25 yd line. My Glock G19 is still factory stock, so I will also use this as an excuse.

I took a handgun lesson from a friend. At 25yards, with a VP9 I was hitting like 1 of 5 into an index card. Then he let me use his G19 and got all 5 on the index card at 25 yards. I still didn't buy a Glock. Both iron sights.

Both guns are fully capable. I don't own a VP9, but I've shot them quite a bit and seen that they are excellent guns.
Some folks just like a certain gun. Looks, feel, just confident for whatever reason. That's certainly real. That said, those who trash one gun over the other is ::) In the end, buy whatever float one's boat. Just hope folks actually try said firearms before judging. Usually, it's not the gun. . .
Especially with HK fanbois. . .
