Title: MM inc M10-762 Any experience
Post by: Oatmeal5150 on September 21, 2012, 08:46:57 PM
Looking to buy an AK... Was thinking of Arsenal originally, but they've been hard to find as of lately.  Checked out an M10 762 today. Seems really nice, the reviews I've found have ALL been good, it's a couple hundred cheaper than an Arsenal.  But if I'm gonna jump it's gotta be quick, local store only has 2 in stock and no sign of any more coming.  Anyone else have on of these?  KK?  Money is tight and I've been saving.  I'd hate to buy the MM, and end up not liking it and wishing I bought the Arsenal and have to start all over again.  Any advice/help/opinion is much appreciated.

It's just a dressed up Romanian.

I would spend the $150-$200 more and get an arsenal.

Thanks....  Arsenal aside, what do you think of the MM inc?  Dressed up Romanian obviously but.. Worth the money, over priced, good, bad etc?

I haven't owned one but I've handled a few.

They seem to be kind of crude in a WASR kind of way.

If you don't want an arsenal, OGC has the VEPR MD2's in stock for around $850.
That's a great AK. I've got two of them.

As far as the M10. I kind of don't like the position of the front sight. It's much shorter than a standard AK which by conventional wisdom means it will be less accurate.

Those are a great price but they're unconverted.
$499+$65 shipping + $40 FFL = $604 for a rifle that you still need to have converted to use regular AK mags, and it doesn't even have a threaded barrel.

Your options are buy the $60 worth or parts necessary to do it and try to do it yourself, or pay a shop $250-$300 to do the conversion for you. ($854-$904 total, now)

Or $850 for a converted one with a threaded barrel.

Wow - Vepr for about $600.  Does it just need the bullet ramp like the Saigas to take AK mags?

It needs a bullet ramp and it needs to be modified to accept standard AK magazines.

Hi KK (my future Dad!!),

So just the ramp and filing the mag catch to take regular mags?   (And the whole 922r deal for it to be legal to take hi-caps)

Tnx!
