Title: Fanny pack holsters, hot weather cloths
Post by: robtmc on May 24, 2022, 01:16:14 PM
CCW (legal of course) in Arizona has me wondering what method to carry if I chose to.  I typically, other than in winter, dress like I do here in Hawaii for hot weather.:  Shorts with no belt, tee shirt, slippers.
Got room for a wallet and usually leave my cell in the car.

Keep thinking of a fanny pack for carry and cell phone.  Bought a Galco IWB holster, but wonder how will that would work with elastic waist band shorts.

Cop I sold my car to clearly had his in a fanny pack that he left on the passenger seat while we were talking, got me thinking that might be a good carry for my preferred mode of dress.

Anyone tried using a waist pack for carry where you could?  Could double up for carry while hiking.

Search sucks, pardon for rehashing something if this is.

I looked into fanny pack carry for when I go to the gym in Vegas.  I would have used a "g-string" holster and tied that to somewhere inside the fanny back. This way when you draw the gun from there, the trigger covering stays with the fanny pack, so you don't need 2 hands to make the gun operable.  And it reduces the size because you wont' have a kydex holster inside the fanny pack.

But then I just choose not to work out while on vacation. So I never purchased anything.

Another option that I looked into is when not wearing a belt but board shorts or basketball shorts. A kydex holster will not stay on the waistband when drawing. So gun is drawn with the holster still on it. ULTI Clips are designed to be used belt-less.  And they're simple to screw in and out.  I bought a set for my taser holster thinking I would run into this issue when wearing no belt. But my We The People Pulse holster has a clip so tight that it stays with the belt-less shorts.  Even on Mrs. CMO's yoga pants it works.

So I gave away my ULTI that I ordered to my knife maker.  My plan was to buy 2 taser holsters, 1 with the normal belt clip and 1 for the ULTI clip because I workout 4-5X a week and it's a PITA to screw and unscrew the clip daily.

I also have a belly wrap, but it's too hot and ULTI clips solved the issue. For Mrs. CMO, she was looking into "Flashbag Holsters", these attach under the bra between the 2 tiddies.  But again, ULTI solved the non-belt issue.

I have a few of these, small for my sub compact, large for a fuller frame auto.
https://www.amazon.com/Small-Concealed-Carry-Buffalo-Leather-Tan/dp/B00YLUBQ5I/ref=dp_prsubs_1?pd_rd_i=B00YLUBQ5I&psc=1

Very comfortable for carry, pull tabs make for a quick open and draw.

That is the same one I have. It is comfortable and worked good concealing my G17 and spare mag during my Alaska fishing trip a few years ago. It seems durable.

I ran a triggerguard only holster and then tied paracord to it and then tied the other end of the paracord to the inside of the Fanny pack elastic loop. This way I could carry with a round in the chamber but the trigger be fully protected. And when I draw the small triggerguard holster is pulled off and stays connected to the Fanny pack.

Like your trigger cover idea! 🤙🏽 Awesome

PHLster Enigma might be of interest? It’s a pretty popular holster for deep concealment, any attire.

I bought a cheap Jan Sport fanny pack, and able to stich three loops into the inner front of the pack.  This allow me to clip my Bravo Concealment holster into the pack.  I need to work on my draw with the fanny, but so far so good.  Vegas been hitting 110 lately.

I made a minamilst holster. Just kydex shaped to cover the rigger guard with a loop of string to yank it off. With a small gun it works fine for sitting in the pocket but not good for pants with stretchy waists since it would drag the pants down.

Fanny packs are nice and useful, not very fast draws though.

This holster has a "fabric clip" that eliminates the need for a belt.  Not sure how well it works with loose shorts versus jeans (as in the video), but it may be worth researching or experimenting.

I seem to have missed who the holster maker was?  Had trouble with her voice if she said it.

FWIW
I use a Ted Blocker fanny pack as an EDC bag.
I've carried a 3913 and Colt Officers in it very comfortably.
I used to rep Blocker here 30 years ago but Ted sold the business to somebody else.
I still have new-old stock of other stuff if you are looking for CCW leather.... real leather.

A major advantage she has is she never has to worry about printing.

She could conceal-carrying an AR-15 and nobody would notice!!   :geekdanc:

This thread has new relevance.  I'm going to Vegas soon and plan to attend a pool party (hotels pool+dance club combo).  If they're not wanding at the front, I will be fanny packing because I wont' be wearing  a shirt.  If they are wanding, then I will check firearm with security.

I don't plan on buying a g-string holster because it will only be for a few hours so I will make due with my regular IWB kydex inside the fanny pack.

Area 15 (Omega Mart)  wands and we had to put our guns in the glove box, which is legal to do in NV.

Best part of winter is you can CCW the biggest gun you own.
