In NYC, a bodega worker was attacked behind the counter by a man upset that the clerk wouldn't let his girlfriend's daughter keep a bag of chips after her debit card was declined. It's even reported the mother pulled a knife and threatened the clerk to get the chips.
She then left and told he boyfriend what the clerk did. I doubt her version included not paying for the chips or pulling a knife on him.
After being attacked behind the counter, the 51 year old clerk grabbed a kitchen knife on a shelf and stabbed the 37 year old man 3 times: 2 times in the chest, and once in the neck. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
After having his bail set at $250,000, his lawyer was able to have it reduced to $50,000.
Release the criminals caught doing bad things without charges or bail, but lock up the victims for successfully defending themselves.
Apparently the bodega owners in the community have a sort of organization, and they have requested help from the NRA of all people! The bodega owners say they don't feel safe in certain high crime areas, and they should not have to add on top of that the fear of being arrested for self defense.
I wonder who the bodega owners voted for and donated to in their elections?

This is a nightmare. In real time.
It certainly seems that this is only the beginning of many more incidents like this if the American people don't do what needs to be done this November.
I can certainly see this unfortunate setting potentially happening here in Hawaii, where criminals are hugged and embraced while law-abiding citizens get the shaft.
This is the kind of sh*t that could plunge the country into anarchy.

ABC and CBS were calling the dead guy "the victim," just like they do when someone defends themselves with a firearm. Seems like the clerk was the "intended victim," and the dead guy is really the "alleged attacker."
A narrative doesn't have to include the truth...

We are blessed in that the biggest problem causing culture is pretty much absent in Hawaii,
or we would be just as bad as Illinois.
From our governor, down to our police chiefs, we don't have a right to protect ourselves.
Indeed they obstruct us from legally using legal means to protect ourselves eg.
Obstruction of issuance of concealed carry permits. In the whole state only about 100 applications
for a permit has been submitted. That will cause a "blood bath" on our streets.
in a state of about 1.5 million people, if they are granted.
The state government and it's supporters are pretty low on the Common sense quotient.
I guarantee you if you legally defend yourself, in your home, business, or sojourn and that results in a death, you WILL
be arrested and charged with something.

It's so unbelievable how things have deteriorated to the point where the victims have to figure out the very precise moment before they can start defending themselves.
In the NYC incident, how many slams against the wall does the poor guy have to endure before he can start defending himself?
Do you have to be half dead or 3/4 dead before you can start fighting back? Why does an aloof DA sitting in his plush air conditioned office adjusting his $1000 cufflinks and smoothing out his fancy smancy suit get to decide at what point that clerk can turn from aggressor to victim? At what point can a 51 year old man start defending himself from someone stronger and more that 20 years younger?
WTF happened to common sense in that f**kn city?

That is why everyone should have SD insurance, even if you cannot or don't want to carry a firearm.

The clerk beater was probably a member of a certain protected species, so the victim being arrested was preordained.
NYC is not really part of the USA. It is foreign territory. It is run by and for that protected species.

Not sure if all details are 100% accurate, but ...
The "debit card" the young girl's mother tried to use to buy chips was an EBT card (SNAP/Food Stamps) that had no more benefit $ loaded on it. Balance = $0.
So, if the mother had been tracking her card balance and spending, she would have never been in the store telling her daughter she could have chips.
Then the boyfriend that died shows up wearing a $300 designer T-Shirt, gold jewelry, etc.
This is the entitled bunch. Told by the establishment they need to rely on government for necessities, getting their victimhood drilled into their heads constantly, and being convinced that whitey will never stop keeping them down.
The deceased was a criminal with multiple felony convictions.
If we want to discuss what makes people violent (i.e. why mass shooters decide to murder), maybe this case is a good lesson: contrast the life choices and outcomes of all the people involved -- a felon starting a fight, a foreign-born immigrant working his job, and how the government is more interested in arresting the actual victim in spite of video evidence.
Nobody is going to protect you besides you!

I can see the initial arrest but after the detectives look at the case and are able to determine it was self defense no bail should be set.
We only have a short clip of the video though, maybe there are some other aggravating circumstances?
