Title: info on open hunt of axis deer on big island

Anyone else seen this on the news the other day?  If I'm not mistaken they are opening hunting for population control on big island for axis deer "no bag limit."  Anyone have more info on this I went on the dlnr website and couldn't find any info about this announcement.

I see no report of how many deer on island that they can call for a population controlled hunt.  But if they are getting that bad out of hand I'd like to go down and get some meat.

If only it was close like Molokai, Lanai, or Kauai. I'd rent a plane and let someone fly over with me! XD

This topic came up last night while handing out candy to the trick or treaters. We couldn't get much info about it, but want to plan a trip. Sounds like fun!!

I checked DLNR's and DOFAW's websites .... but noting ..... I personally wouldn't shoot any axis deer if I saw any of the population Grow establish.

A while back some guys were illegally dropping deer in for game purposes so if you go down to sports authority and hpd there are notices for kill on site, eradication kind of thing. Not sure how many they brought in or where though
