Title: Primers and Current Pricing
Post by: surfmaster on August 29, 2022, 02:52:13 PM
When available, what's the current price for 1,000 primers like small rifle or small pistol. Brands include Federal, CCI and Winchester. Thanks.

From what I've seen, around $100/1k for regular, and maybe 1.5-1.7x that for match primers.

Some sellers are selling off portions of their stash.  Not sure what the going rate for those have been.  I missed out on a couple of offerings though.

I paid $160 /1000 small pistol primers and $170/1000 match grade small pistol primers. Now the powder is an issue.

Pretty sure factory ammo is cheaper than reloading pistol calibers now .

I’m thinking the SEC prices is not too far off. Last update I got was 169.95$ a brick for srp. Or 850$ for case from SEC.

I’m one step away from reloading 45-70 and that’s large rifle primers.  I guess patience is a virtue.

I really think these prices are here to stay. Why? Cause most of the  reloaders would still buy it at this price. Look how fast it goes outta stock on on major online retailers. I think we’d do the same too, if both primers and powders is in reach for us here.

I think the pricing will be like this for a while, and yeah, I considered paying that amount for the last SEC shipment.  Hopefully (not holding my breath), component pricing will follow supply and demand, and thus pricing for loaded ammo.

Working on a humangous project right now where it involves having economists looking out at projections years out.  "They" say some key commodities, at least that affect my project appear to have peaked.  However, known unknowns like Ukraine, and "other factors" remain. . .  :(

I disagree prices here to stay. Mainland prices are 60.00 to 80.00 per brick at various locations. 100 more here? That's gouging hard. I even found shotgun primers for 58 a brick just last week. Its trending down. I suggest not buying at 170.00 that's a horseshit price. 100 or more extra more a brick doesn't reflect shipping or hazmat.  120 would be way more "reasonable"

Tell you what--when you find a retailer selling quantities of primers at that kind of price let us all know, mahalo! :shaka:

What’s going rate or what most would pay at a LGS for  a pound of  .223 powders nowadays? (H335, cfe223, varget, etc)
