Title: MantisX
Post by: 11bravo on August 30, 2022, 04:41:34 PM
Anyone have a MantisX To improve marksmanship?  I'm thinking about getting this system and would like some feedback.

Before getting a Scatt I did read about the Mantis. It uses an IMU to plot your shots versus an optical or laser unit to measure your shot. The most important pieces of information that I found was the before trigger break trace measured in milliseconds. Since the Mantis uses an IMU it doesn't need a target to see. I'm guessing it calibrates by measuring where you are in space.

I tried it with live fire as it attaches to the rail of the handgun. It showed what I thought, my hands shake while lining up the sights, prob due to all the caffeine running thru my veins.

I didn't get to use it long enough to see if it helps improve my accuracy. It was a friends one that I was playing with.

I have one. IMO it gives you some great feedback on what exactly is going on when you press that trigger.  Of course when dry firing, you probably will not flinch, but practice of a good smooth trigger press, that does not disturb the sights, over and over, will definitely improve your shooting. It builds good muscle memory. Be sure to have your exact full shooting grip when you practice as well. Having a soft sloppy grip with a good trigger press won’t translate to success in live fire.

All that being said, I might be parting with my MantisX. Let me know.
