Contrary to unpopular opinion...and because our local government is doing such a great job with providing a safe, secure environment ..we have nothing to worry about..all you need is a big dog
and if you ever find yourself in a "Scary " situation “As soon as you’re able to call 911, do so right away.” - Sgt Kim

Bingo !
Still hope I make it to hearing but preparing testimony.
This is all like in the past two weeks !
Obviously there’s a need/justification for carrying.
Thanks Ren. :shaka:

Make sure your taxes are up to date so that as your lifeblood oozes out on the pavement you’ll die knowing you were a good and loyal citizen.
-
These restrictions, protocols, and training that "they" are implementing into the CCW permit process shows that "they" do not trust the law-abiding citizen.
It also shows their personal ideologies and beliefs as far as gun ownership and rights. As professionals they cannot do this but then again, this is Hawaii with its immature leadership.
The typical law-abiding citizen of the United States know what is right or wrong. They believe strongly in their rights and know the difference between rights and priviledge.
Hawaii's LE and Politicians are afraid of this. Their courage, actions, and demeanor depend solely on the fact that they are the only ones with guns and the rest of us can suck wind.
-
Ren, you're preaching to the choir, but it's ok.
Maybe some elected official will catch the hint.

“This dangerous understaffing is an open secret within the department,” he added, calling the shortages a “dire public health crisis.”
"Right now, the HPD has over 300 vacancies and that’s expected to grow over the next several years.
The police union said another 193 officers are eligible to retire and there aren’t enough replacements in the current pool of new recruits."
Well I guess if you want to carry, you can always join HPD

we should also add the shooting down at Hau Bush last night as evidence that crackheads are rampant

Police officers are probably getting tired and discouraged when their efforts end up with the prosecution failing to follow through with convictions and the same criminals are released. Again and again.
The Hawaii revolving door syndrome.
Also Hawaii's Best and the Finest no longer see Law Enforcement as a satisfying career where they can make a difference.
And if Hawaii's Best and Finest are not filling the ranks of HPD, just guess who and what are filling those ranks.
Yep......

Maybe the "Best and the Finest" are now realizing they can't get away with their old tactics on the street due to all the video cameras in their cars, on their bodies, on people's phones, installed on homes and businesses, ...
Time to look for another ego-satisfying occupation that requires no formal training, like Governor, or lawmaker, ....

I got really really BAD NEWS FOR THOSE GUYS.
I'm pretty damn certain everyone here follows the law.
I even more certain that we are way outnumbered by those that ignore their silly assed un-constitutional laws.

Dan Goo who would testify often prior to his passing stated something like: "When I first started HPD, I was excited that I would be able to help people. But I learned within the first few weeks that instead I was a glorified note taker. Almost every call, I would arrive after the fact. WHen I retired, I had to turn in my badge, gun, radio, and handcuffs. Now I'm a regular guy like everyone else".

Honolulu Police are looking for two male suspects after a woman was sexually assaulted in the Kalihi area late Wednesday night.
Police say the 19-year-old woman was walking home along the 2300 block of Wilson Street when she was pulled into a public stairwell and was sexually assaulted by 'strong compulsion.' The victim did not know the suspects.

Too bad she cant ccw anyways due to being under 21.

Too bad she cant ccw anyways due to being under 21.
Ask yourself whether the perps know how old she is.
If everyone eligible to carry is issued a license when they apply, the perps won't know who is carrying and who isn't. They'd have to have more information to be sure their intended target can't fight back.
Her age is irrelevant, because right now NOBODY can CCW. She could have been 26 and just as defenseless.

Strong compulsion sounds like weasel words for “they beat her up pretty bad”
-
Strong compulsion sounds like weasel words for “they beat her up pretty bad”
Sounds more like a euphemism for "coerced just short of causing significant injuries", probably because she complied rather than suffer a beating on top of the sexual assault.

What’s a weak compulsion?
Rubber bands and spitballs?

Well Sgt Chris Kim said to comply with their demands and when you get a chance, call 911.
To me, following police advice or even calling them is a good way to get yourself killed or seriously injured.
-
What’s a weak compulsion?
Rubber bands and spitballs?
"Strong compulsion" means the use of or attempt to use one or more of the following to overcome a person:
(1) A threat, express or implied, that places a person in fear of bodily injury to the individual or another person, or in fear that the person or another person will be kidnapped;
(2) A dangerous instrument; or
(3) Physical force."
"Compulsion" means absence of consent, or a threat, express or implied, that places a person in fear of public humiliation, property damage, or financial loss."
-
Legal definition via "Law Insider"
Strong compulsion [sic] is any intrusion of any part of a person’s body into the genital opening.

A 35-year-old man was seriously injured in an apparent stabbing in Honolulu on Monday evening.
Authorities said the incident happened about 5:05 p.m. at Keeaumoku Avenue and South Beretania Street.
The man was apparently stabbed several times, and Honolulu EMS administered life-saving treatment before transporting him to a hospital.

Honolulu police are investigating a stabbing in Chinatown that left a 32-year-old man serious condition.
Authorities responded around 12:40 p.m. to the scene on North Hotel Street.
Emergency Medical Services said they treated a man with abdominal wounds and transported him to a nearby trauma center.
HPD said the victim is uncooperative and no arrests have been made at this time.

Meanwhile, HPD Chief is busy figuring out how to make the CCW process A PAIN IN THE A$$ FOR LAW ABIDING CITIZENS.

Honolulu police have captured a suspected gunman accused of holding up two businesses in two days.
Law enforcement sources say police used surveillance video to link the suspect to both crimes.
Along Kapahulu Avenue on Thursday, businesses were on high alert after the string of recent robberies.
The latest happened a little after 8 p.m. Tuesda
-
So per sgt kim, the business owner must change things, like making deposits mid day instead of at night.
Funny how we dont see hpd making statements like keeping felons behind bars or stricter sentences for career criminals.
HPd wants u to be a victim and will only chime in if it affects their personal safety. Like how they pushed for theag bans after diamond head and other laws.

I received the Amber Alert via my RING App's "Neighbors" Feed. It came in about 15 hours ago, so sometime around 7:30PM.
I then got the blaring alarm on my phone at 1:43am.
Typical government actors keeping the people of Hawaii "safe!" Why did it take from around 7:30pm until 1:43am to get the Amber Alert through the phone? Did someone lose the password again?
Seriously, imagine being a child abductor in Hawaii and knowing you have about 6 extra hours to evade detection before the public is alerted. Saves the government from immediately letting him back out on the street with no bail....
I have to wonder if the airport was alerted earlier than 2am so they could be looking for them in the 6 hours that passed before the public was alerted?
:wtf:
-
Gee, in the time lapse between the incident and the public being alerted he could have been in Vegas by then. ::)

Sgt. Kim said that as soon as you're able to, call 911. If I ever get attacked by someone with a sword, I won't be able to call 911.
My hands or arms will probably be hacked off and I haven't practiced to dial with my tongue or nose. Or maybe my head will be hacked off too so no matter. I'm dead.
Sgt. Kim, the only way I'll be able to call 911 is after I do a mag dump on that f**ker.

Kalihi Valley residents are concerned with a major uptick in crime and they're pleading with state leaders for help.
"We had a 19 year old that was assaulted -- sexually assaulted -- about a week and a half ago," said Kalihi Valley resident Michael McDonald. "And we've had other general crime in the area, you know, so everybody's kind of concerned in my neighborhood."
Surveillance videos from McDonald's neighbors show trespassers looking through mailboxes, trying to get into cars and stealing things right off front porches.

Hypothetically:
Crimes rises & gov't is unable to stop it. When they do catch the perps, property crimes normally go unpunished or with a minor wrist-slap. Violent offenders get probation or no jail time because people are afraid to testify or there's nothing other than witness testimony to present at trial: no weapon, no video, etc.
Enter the Supreme Court. With the state's "good cause" rule shot down (pun intended), the state must now make it possible for people to be armed in public.
Result: If the issuance of Concealed Carry Licenses gets a few perps shot and/or killed, then crime suddenly takes a downward trend, the correlation will be a huge win for gun rights and a kick in the teeth for gun control activists.
This exact scenario has played out in many cities across the US. Arm the public, stop the criminals.
I remember the Detroit Police Chief telling people about 8 years ago to go out and buy a gun, because "we can't keep you safe."
https://www.theguardian.com/money/2014/aug/17/police-guns-detroit-crime-race-cost-issues
I think other city police have issued similar announcements in the wake of the pandemic and increases in violent crime.
-
But.....but.....but....Sgt. Kim said......... ;)
Seriously though, I agree with Flapp. Arm the public, stop the criminals. I believe that once the criminal element knows citizens can carry firearms crime will go down.
-
Agree. An armed society is a polite society.

These asshat millionaire Politicians forget that for the common citizen, hunkering down is probably one of the few options available to them.
They don't have security details to protect them, nor the ability to just jump on a plane to get out of there.
We definitely need to protect ourselves. LE will be non-existent or extremely stretched to rely on.
And then there is the other catastrophe. The social melt-down of law and order. I don't know which is worse, natural or man-made disasters. But the bottom line is when the SHTF, no one will come.

Literally just called 911 because some kids were trashing a car on the street got a video of their car speeding away showed them the video, they took my name and number said they didn’t need a copy of the video and that’s it. I can’t say for 100% sure they won’t go after them or investigate it but seems like it. I’m hopeful they knew who it was and will catch them, but the vibe I got was they’re just going to let it go. It was a nice newer Acura SUV too.

McAllister was stunned to find a man attempting to steal some of her items —including her dog. It was at that moment that she took matters into her own hands.
The 29-year-old yelled for the intruder to get out, but he was unphased. Fortunately, within her reach was the gun she kept stored. And although she had never used it before, she put her nervousness aside and grabbed it.
“All I did was turn around and grab the gun,” McAllister told WRAL. “I was fumbling with it. It’s my first time using it.”
McAllister added that she lifted the safety and did what she had to do.
“I just lifted it up, and I started shooting at him, wherever he was moving to, I just shot him out of the house,” she said.
When the police arrived to the scene, they found the thief, who has been identified as 20-year-old Malihk Giles, only about 200 yards from McAllister’s home with two gunshot wounds, one on his right lower leg and the other on his right side.
“ I know a lot of women are scared of guns,” says McAllister. “I feel those are the best protectors for us because we can’t fight a man. We can’t fight an intruder off.”
Although she’s still shaken up and it’s difficult for her to be alone at the moment, McAllister feels “stronger” now and ready for any other attempt at a home invasion in the future.

Women should take heed of that advice

Women should take heed of that advice
My wife will do a double tap on an intruder, put a third in the head
and then bitch about the mess.
Then we call the neighbor with the backhoe.
We know lots of discreet cleaning ladies.
Y'all just got to do it right.

Never fired a gun. Zero training. Stopped a criminal engaged in criminality. Hit a moving target twice. I don't wanna hear any bullsh*t about "proficiency testing". F*ck off.

Hey Ren,
Not sure what that means?
My point is do not depend on the government,
for local crime issues.
We are on our own.

I had dinner with my son last night.
He recently moved his family to Vegas.
He said that since most businesses on the strip prohibit firearms, no law-abiding citizen is likely to have a firearm in that area.
His ccw application is pending.

That's true -- in Vegas. The worst that will happen is you'll be asked to leave with your firearm assuming they know you have one. If you don't do something to give that away, there should be no problem. If they want to be nasty, they could trespass you on the spot, and you'll be risking arrest if you come back/stay.
Other places, however, do assign "the weight of the law" to their private business' Gun Free Zone signs. If you violate the sign's directive to be disarmed, you can be charged with a crime. That's on top of any trespass consequences.
So, know your local ordinances, and plan accordingly.
