After hearing about obama getting re-elected and the whole talk about another weapon ban, i'm in the mood in picking up another log gun. The only problem is funds are limited so i can't really pick up everything i want. Just one. So out of these, which one would choose and why?
Arsenal SLR 106f 5.56 AK
Saiga 12 pistol grip converted
Robinson Arms XCR 5.56 OR 7.62x39
Benelli m4
Shrubmaster ACR
ar15 di? piston?
Now some of you may own some of these already which would make you biased to choose another option. So just for funsies, lets pretend you either don't own any of them or you own all of them.
Feel free to also tell us what your next purchase is in the near future. O0

it really depends on what you already have and what you need the new long gun for
and whether or not you have sufficient ammo in one caliber or don't mind stocking up on a new caliber

the ar due to parts availability, ammo etc.

I am intrigued by the "shrubmaster" ACR. I just wish Magpul would have kept it.

Just buy strpped lowers AR AND AK.

hehe, it doesn't really matter what i have. I want one of each (if not two). I don't need any of those rifles. I want one though. Ammo is not too much of an issue...i hope. I don't REALLY think that obama will be able to pass anything that will ban weapons and ammo. I'm just kinda using it as an excuse to buy something LOL. Even if i pick up something that i have no ammo for, i'll just pick up a bit at first, then wait till the panic buying and hording subsides and stock up. I don't shoot a whole lot anyway.

Here's my $0.02
Arsenal SLR 106f 5.56 AK - I have one, SUPER FUN to shoot, ammo is easy to get, but mags kinda expensive.
Saiga 12 pistol grip converted - Don't have one, but I don't like shooting shotguns (other than for hunting). Pretty limited use here anyway.
Robinson Arms XCR 5.56 OR 7.62x39 - cool gun, but for the money I would probably get something else.......maybe a SLR 101 milled with $$ left over for ammo/mags
Benelli m4 - meh.....another shotgun.......
Shrubmaster ACR - I'd get 2 guns for the $$ instead
ar15 di? piston? - If you don't have a AR yet, somethings wrong with you ;D But seriously, if I didn't have one, I'd go ahead and get a decent DI and be done with it.
At one point I had a bunch of AR's. I sold all but one because IMHO they are boring to shoot. I'd rather shoot a AK, FAL, PTR 91, or my pistol caliber rifles.
If you already have a decent HD gun, buy whatever you think will put the biggest smile on ur face.

Arsenal SLR 106f 5.56 AK - I just bought an Arsenal SLR-101s. Haven't been able to shoot it yet though.
Saiga 12 pistol grip converted - Not much experience, but seems like the ones that I've seen aren't the easiest to keep running.
Robinson Arms XCR 5.56 OR 7.62x39 - No clue.
Benelli m4 - I like Benelli shotguns, but the M4 seems rediculously expensive. Maybe a M2 with a tube extension.
Shrubmaster ACR - Bleh. Much better value elsewhere.
ar15 di? piston? - A quality DI gun would be perfect if you don't have one already. I have a few and I love shooting them all. IMO, piston guns are too expensive and don't offer much over a DI gun unless you are shooting supressed, an SBR, or have to run a wide variety of ammo in the same gun. The proprietary parts of the piston system is big negative to me.

Just buy strpped lowers AR AND AK.
Roger that! There will always be parts for sale..... Filling the receivers up with goodies will be more available and easier to get than register required parts....

So i just ordered an LWRC M6-SL upper, but i'm not satisfied. I'm still tip toeing around the idea of a SLR-106fs or Robinson Arms XCR or Sig 556r swat. Hmm so many choices....not enough $$$!! Not to mention i still gotta get me a lower for the m6-sl. Sigh
-
XCR.....not enough support/spare parts. 556.........no............and I own one. Buy a bunch of stripped lowers too.

You have the 556r? As in Russian? That shoots the 7.62x39? If so, what don't you like about it? I know i could always get an ak, but i have one and want something with a longer rail and have a manual of arms more similar to an ar15.

^^^No I have the original 556 SWAT version, sorry I missed the "r" part. IMHO if the handguards fit like the original versions I would definitely opt out. My rifle was disapointing in its (lack) of precision/accuracy.
